Super close battle! Congratulations to Zekka for winning! zekka certainly deserved the win, as he showed overwhelming musicality in all his matches! On a personal note, “Hope” is definitely the highlight of the competition! And I was surprised at Blackroll in this competition. I knew he was one of the strongest beatboxers in live, but I never expected him to be a Vice Champion in a format like SMYM! It was literally one of the best competitions I've ever been to see masterpieces from so many different artists! Respect to the management, staff ,all competitors and judges!
I think there needs to be a lot more clarity behind what constitutes of each criteria point, which is, admittedly, a common fault in most beatbox rubrics. But for this competition in particular, it gets confusing across multiple rounds. Most of us were under the impression that the music video would primarily be judged from the production standpoint. This has been the case in most previous rounds where other criteria were mostly analysed from the beatbox perspective. Here, BanginJang gives Blackroll like, 3 points based on MV quality alone, which is NUTS even given this format. Colaps gives Zekka a point on creativity because there were more new ideas in there. But the originality point is also given to him by Hiss for the exact same reasons. Fundamentally what would be the difference between the two? Colaps also gave Blackroll the originality point because he made an mv and had lyrics directed to Zekka. This is the first time I'm hearing this despite ALL of Blackroll's entries having been similarly, if not more explicitly battle-themed in that way. In Zekka's battle against Dropical he also gave Zekka the originality point despite Dropical "battling" a lot more. He has also given participants the originality point for having more new ideas rather than the justification mentioned here (i.e.: Dropical vs Zieger). There's a clear confusion on what exactly "originality" is supposed to constitute if suddenly you're taking battling into the picture. No hate to the judges or participants. Both Blackroll and Zekka did amazing and had banger pieces. But there's an undeniable inconsistency in the judging that might stem, not necessarily from the judges, but from a lack of a more specific criteria. Hopefully future versions of SMYM can act on this.
Tldr: Rubric is either too general or unspecified. Judges have been rather inconsistent in their judging. Not saying the result should be disrespected because I love them both, but this is neutral 3rd party criticism on the comp itself that hopefully can be used to make future versions of it better. Love smym. Pls keep doing this

I liked the judging in this vid , maybe I’m the only one but I loved to see how each judge was evaluating each criteria with their own , it’s was real funny and lovely to see what matters the most for each one from there different point of view , yes the criticism about criteria is really legit and makes total sense but I still enjoyed that , and absolutely loved how close this was , that was very unexpectable for me , I loved this all event and can wait to see more of this ( maybe with precise definition on what gives point to each category , but still that amazing , thx to y’all ! 🧡

Ong though this second judge is tweaking. I think he only cares about the video because the two categories that are very clearly supposed to be about the beatbox he somehow makes it about the video. This is the only problem I have with this format, because the beatbox can be worlds apart but so can the videos, so it’s like “one person just has something the other doesn’t” but it’s extremely costly in a battle environment like this.

That's where all his points were, Zekka beat him in EVERY other category. There's a reason there's multiple categories like this.
