  • @Ben-js9fg
    @Ben-js9fg Рік тому +246

Historically inaccuracies, as requested. I tried making this list as complete as possible!
    - None of Marie Antoinette's dogs were named Archibald
    - Marie Antoinette's palace during her reign was the Palace of Versailles, over 8 Million square metres in size.
    - Versailles was made from bricks, not marble, but however, some interiors featured marble walls.
    - Butlers were never involved in the construction of residences.
    - The front doors of Versailles were not made from oak.
    - Crosswords didn't appear on newspapers until late 1913.
    - Versailles contained hundreds on dining rooms, not just one.
    - Marie Antoinette didn't actually utter the phrase 'Let them eat cake', this was attributed to her after her death.
    - It was likely that there were no female chefs in Versailles.
    - Marie Antoinette's mother was not named Queen Marie the First, but Maria Theresa of the Habsburg Regions.
    - Marie Antoinette was not involved whatsoever in the construction of the Eiffel Tower, as it was constructed almost one hundred years after her death.
    - Versailles is located 42km (26 miles) from Paris, where the Eiffel Tower resides. Nowhere near as close as depicted in the video.
    - Napoleon Bonaparte likely never met Marie Antoinette, and he fought on the rebel's side of the revolution.
    - Marie Antoinette and Napoleon Bonaparte were roughly the same height - around 5'5.
    - Marie Antoinette never had anyone executed.
    - Marie Antoinette's wig was not the only thing chopped off from her neck up.
(Just as a disclaimer, I found this video hilarious. The amount of thought and humour that went into it was insane. Keep it up!)

All inaccuracies: 1. Europeans didn’t own Chihuahuas yet. Chihuahuas were from Mexico, and I can’t see a snooty imperialist owning an Aztec dog. 2. Dogs don’t speak French. 3. There were no comics, crosswords, horoscopes, sports sections, or cat stories in the news back then. 4. Marie Antoinette did not do any littering, framing, dognapping, or any of the stuff on that list. She had servants for that. 5. Endgame didn’t exist. 6. Crabs were for poor people back then. 7. Marie did not steal bread. There was a grain shortage, but Marie couldn’t care less. 8. The palace of Versailles was a lot bigger than that. 9. She didn’t say “let them eat cake”. 10. Milk did not come in cartons. 11. The rebels didn’t sneak a rat into the palace. 12. Ratatouille is not a historical event. 13. Marie’s Mom was not named Marie the first. 14. Marie didn’t ban creativity. 15. The police didn’t wear blue uniforms. The city guard at the time had armor and swords. 16. Medieval jails didn’t look like that. Also, the death penalty was way more common than prison. 17. The rebels didn’t hide in a newspaper office. 18. The clothes in Marie’s closet are not accurate at all. 19. The Industrial Revolution happened in the 1800s. The French Revolution was in the 1700s. 20. There were no steel factories in medieval France. 21. Marie did not build any dams. 22. Nor did she blow up a volcano. 23. The Eiffel Tower was not built by Marie Antoinette. 24. Archduke Ferdinand was not alive back then. 25. The nobles were not attacked at a party. 26. The rebels didn’t hold Marie’s dog for ransom. 27. Napoleon fought for the rebels. 28. Napoleon didn’t build a railroad. 29. There were no time traveling carrots in the French Revolution. 30. There were no dollar bills. All the money was in francs. 31. The palace of Versailles was not fortified for the revolution. They had the Bastille for that. 32. They were always beheading people, even when the jails were empty. 33. Sleepy Louie was not a rallying point for the revolution. 34. The rebels were not broken out of jail by a baby. 35. They weren’t ambushed by a train full of soldiers. 36. The revolution was not running away. They had the upper hand. 37. The rebels weren’t outnumbered. Peasants were 90% of the population. 38. Marie’s butler didn’t carry her up the Eiffel Tower. 39. Marie wasn’t shot from a cannon. 40. Marie did not sword fight with baguettes. 41. Marie wasn’t shot with a dog from a slingshot. 42. Marie didn’t have her hair chopped off. She was actually killed. 43. Where is King Louie? 44. Things weren’t so good after the revolution. The country was unstable, and there were a bazillion more riots and coups before Napoleon took over and stopped all the fighting. 45. The rebels did not tear down the Eiffel Tower. 46. Or elect a mayor. 47. And all this happened in Paris, not 24Ville. TLDR, 47 inaccuracies, also I’m a nerd 🤓🤓🤓

I say, Take. Me. Out! In Flanders’ Fields, In Flanders’ Fields, ‘cause now we lie in Flanders’s Fields
In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
      In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
      In Flanders fields.

It was fun to watch but there are few historical errors im gonna mention haha
Revolution happened at 1789-1794 and the Eiffel Tower was made by Gustave Eiffel at 1887 XD Infact Napoleon was a revolutionary general. I dont think he would fight for a queen lol
And the first ever train was invented at 1804 which is after the revolution :p But yeah it was a good video and i enjoyed it! Thanks

Napoleon became a revolutionary general after the King and Queen execution. He was part of the army that simply served whoever was in power at the time (which would be the King until he decided to flee in 1792).

@@SuperSecretBricks Well he was also a Jacobin at that times and you know the person who made him shine was Augustin Robespierre. Which is brother of Maximilien Robespierre you can research and see in Augustin's letters to his brother he said something like "Citizen Bonapart is also trustworthy" or something like that (i cant really remember sorry. But i dont believe a soldier who supports the revolution would serve a Queen but its just my opinion

    • @SuperSecretBricks
      @SuperSecretBricks Рік тому

@@leopoldavedis2940 In 1785, Napoleon joined the army, which belonged to the King until 1792. In 1789, following the revolt in Paris, the absolute monarchy became a constitutional monarchy, but there was relatively no battle, so we can say that Napoleon was in fact still serving the King.
In 1792, the King and the Queen tried to flee, plotting to join allies to re-establish the absolute monarchy. They were caught, imprisoned and sentenced to death. In January 1793, the King got beheaded. As for the Queen, she got beheaded in October 1793.
And it's only then that the Revolutionary Wars started to begin.
As for Napoleon's political alignment, during that period he was a Corsican Nationalist and spent most of his energy in Corsica which was facing a complex conflict between Royalists, Revolutionaries and Corsican Nationalists.
In 1793 he had to flee from Corsica back to Toulon in France, which is where he started to get support from Augustin Robespierre.
