The Concerned Children Advertisers spot was probably the most effective abstinence campaign I've seen.
All of us ain't fertile. This just may be my time. LOL
quintessenceSL😆 😅 😂 🤣
Oh man, I'm still looking for the elusive house hippo. Though growing up in Newfoundland it's easy to understand why I haven't... They can't swim in salt water, duh.
It's interesting to see how the different provinces are handling all this though. For all the crap I've given local politicians for other issues, I must say they've at least given a clear consistent message throughout this... And I haven't heard of a single politician who fled the country for the tropics while mandating a lockdown on their own constituents here in NS... Unlike some other provinces.
Good to see you back and thanks for another video!
I’m sad to this day our house never had a house hippo.
I want to die from seeing that Paul Rudd PSA now
This whole year has been not exactly normal.
No wonder we only got two videos. Dylan's work is done.
@@protiod lol
The German PSA probably remains my favourite, even though it was absolutely pointless and achieved nothing. But at least it was creative and that’s something the German government usually isn’t especially good at.
@@friemo660 Yeah to be fair the PSA didn’t age well when considering the incredibly inconsistent and lacklustre efforts to get the pandemic under control in recent months. I still find it charming for what it is, though like I mentioned before I also think these campaigns were absolutely pointless.
i can put my arm back on.. you can't. play safe
That last one was terrifying!
Still trying to place the movie it was taken from.
@@quintessenceSL Its from the Children. Great melt flick.
No one does horror like South Korea
Some of these songs really ARE catchy! I kinda love how creative these people are!
Also, i like that "NEN" logo thingy you used in this video!
4:49 Not exactly effective, since what feels like half of Alberta's elected ministers vacationed in the tropics this Christmas.
Yup
The House Hippo psa has never been more relevant than it is now. "That's why it's important to think about what you're watching on TV and ask questions."
As and albertan I was scared as soon as I saw the thumbnail and like I got two of them in this vid XD
I'm 100% showing these to all of my. friends immediately
I'm gonna like this just because one of the PSAs/commercials in that montage is from my hometown.
Which one?
@@dylandubeau The one with the cops performing "Don't Stand So Close To Me".
I was there in 2019 to film at the zoo. Had a great burger. (Not at the zoo haha). Cool place.
@@dylandubeau Truly. Have you heard of the upcoming penguin exhibit? Once all this is over, I'll have to take my family there when it opens. Or any of the local museums?
Looking forward to the penguins!
Ooo! Ooo! Can you do an episode on mid-80's- early 00s public TV in north america? Or those Canadian PSAs? Those shorts are my chiLDHOOD 💛😭
Also, if you think the AB covid ad was terrifying, you should check out the workplace safety campaign called Bloody Lucky, also from Alberta. That shit legitimately gave me nightmares as a teen and I've been a Safety Nut ever since.
WorkSafe BC is another source for disturbing PSAs. They've got their own channel full of stuff going up in flames.
As an Albertan given our case numbers I don't think their exactly effective to be honest
It's insane on what's going on in Alberta.
I swear the house hippo and the don't put it in your mouth psa's ran up to 2006 or something, along with many other old psa's we had in Canada.
>7:02
Is this the incredible South Korean filmmaking that I've been hearing so much about?
Yes.
You ought to see the UK ones, back in January when infection rates rose again, they released a campaign called 'look into my eyes' showing patients and staff in intensive care wards, a lot of people saw it as nightmare fuel, it was on before 9pm (which means in the UK that it should be suitable for children before 9pm) and therefore it received a lot of backlash from the general public, on the UA-cam upload of the ad it has received so many more dislikes to likes.
That Scottish commercial reminds me of the Invader Zim episode where Zim gets goggles that let him see germs
How are those corona-man PSAs effective? Do they have some kind of grim ending? Just showing up without any consequences isn't really scary. Would probably have helped if you included some longer clips from those PSAs.
They don't really show much to be honest... Hell, COVID looks like a good time in some of these. The kids are partying with him and he's the only one smiling on the elevator... Seems like good company.
They definitely don't show the consequences. The City of Tampa has a pretty good 'scary' one that does show people partying and then the consequences. ua-cam.com/video/0HbFonvs0Bo/v-deo.html
I like the mr covid campaign because its a good visual reminder that covid can be anywhere, at any gathering, no matter how safe you think it is.
Maybe they should do an updated version showing him at a funeral or something.
god I hate being from Alberta most days
3:52 audio quality???
Doesn't it strike you as ironic that they had a PSA about not going to parties without masks while having a party without masks? Who in their right mind would listen to hypocrisy like that?
The creators of the ad talk about the process of making it, and the 'safety protocols' here. But yeah, not ideal haha. www.thestar.com/politics/2020/12/11/nightmare-on-covid-street-corona-headed-party-provocateur-stars-in-new-alberta-ads.html
LOL
What a brilliant idea for a vid :)
Not suprised by the canadian ones, if youve seen the head medical doctor dr. tam youd know true knightmare fuel.
Cool vid, slightly weird thing, at 3:50 and a few other places for some reason your voice is coming out of my rear speakers, rest of the video seems to be balanced more to the front - though I will allow this could be a quirk of my audio setup
Probably on my end. Something weird went down with the voice over haha
in UK there also was the Santa Claus in hospital with covid
Hi guys I've currently got Covid and feel really poorly... I've had my vaccinations thankfully. I can't imagine what I would have felt like without them x
...but ...but the people in the PSAs weren't social distancing during the CoronaLoves campaign. Doesn't that make people think that if it's safe enough for a social distancing PSA that it's safe enough for you, too?
I'd recommend Polish Covid PSA for anyone interested in somewhat disturbing PSA's source: am Polish, it gets played on TV too much
Man who sales these face masks???
4:24
Personally, I thought they were all rather watery & ineffectual. I've always believed that if you want to get a serious message across you have to hit the people hard in the gut whether it be through a PSA that is gut-wrenchingly sad or one that scares the living sh!t out of them. Perhaps likening ignoring social distancing & not wearing a mask to taking the family to the mall after being made aware that there's an active shooter there would be more effective in getting the message across. Obviously, some sensitivity toward the time slot in relation to the age group of viewers would be required.
3:08 Is that Seattle Opera?
Nobody does horror like South Korea
Haha scotland
Can someone explain to me toronto mayor Tik tok where he’s choosing between in person or virtual meetings? I’m confused
What makes these truly terrifying is that corona was blown way out of proportion and this is all propaganda
Why doesn’t he understand the Scottish accent but he understands the Indian or the Singaporean? Is it okay to make fun of if they’re Scottish but not Asian?
Is there a link to the last one?
It's from the Children
What are even sayin?
HAHA, 2020 was bad
Man this was a bad day to say that
Wow. 3rd to see this
Fuck me it’s really frustrating being Scottish. You think you’re speaking English clearly and you either get a blank stare or a reaction like at 6:47 ☹️ wouldn’t change it though 🏴
Either would I! 🏴🏴🏴
Unnecessarily rude about the accent of the lassie in the Scottish ad. To the people it's aimed at every word is clear as a bell. I expect better from you than sneering parochialism Dylan!
Fair. But also 🙃
Everyone remember when they did this for the more deadly flu that goes around every year? No? Me either.
Those PSA's from when I was a kid really shaped my life, happy for them. Especially "Why be you when you can be me?" and "What's your thing?"
Side note, they should have aired "Don't you put in in your mouth" on TV again as an anti-covid ad
As a Scot, the second Scottish ad is basically saying to people not to bend the rules for their own sake and we're all in this together. If I remember correctly, this came out when our Virus rates were going down in the first wave
Ha better 2021 good one.
