All the heavyweight guitarists say Django is the boss. And when you look at any greatest guitar player ever polls he never gets a mention

Totally agree my friend. if you appreciate great guitar playing you just know Django was something special he was ethereal I have heard all the contenders for the greatest guitarist ever. And some of them are jawdroppin. But they all merge into one. When you hear Django it's Different@@sotiristsallis

Django is a gem.....a gift to Humanity... great as a musician and as a human being... he fought during the WW2, despite that he was in England, safe and had a great deal with Lou Gramm the no1 music industry manager back then. He told everyone that he could not live a joyfull life while humans suffer and he joined the Partisans. anyway... Django is our spiritual father.. even Yngwie Malmsteen emulates some of Django's runs on the guitar.

No. He was touring in England when war broke out but returned to Paris as soon as he heard the news and played at La Cigale near Monmartre throughout the war. Amazingly he survived even though Germans based in Paris went to see him play.

    Thanks for putting this together.
It's always one thing to read an article but to actually hear the interviews is mind-blowing.

Thanks! There were so many more guitarists praising Django in written interviews. Took a while to find the audio. More videos to come!

Modern guitar playing owes its existence to him - regardless of genre. Rock and Metal music as we know it would NOT exist today if not for his two-fingered innovations. 😎🤘💪🍻

Martin Taylor UKs premier jazz guitarist made CDs with Stephane Grapelli Djangos violinist playing Manouche music!

Dude, how did you dig out all these interviews?! That's what blew me away. I knew about all of the people Django inspired (except Lee Roth, I had no idea he even played guitar) but never saw any of them actually talk about it. Thanks man!

Cheers mate! Took ages to find them all. I had a big list of guitar players I knew were inspired by Django, but was hard to get audio of them talking about it.

You listed one person that has any perceptible influence by Django, and left out the big one - Steve Howe from Yes.

Every guitarist has stolen something from Django. But whatever they stole they never played it as good as Django
