I agree with your perspective on old growth forests. There is a hiking trail to stave lake falls near Mission BC that still has the old growth and another between Revelstoke and Golden. with giant cedars. Once you enter you feel as though you have arrived at a natural cathedral. The sunlight is subdued, the aroma of musty soil envelops you, and a sense of serenity overwhelms you. It effects you to your core in some almost indefinable primeval way.
