I practice Darbuka since 1 week now. I can do the basic. I only have 1 question to you Omar: is there any chance so that i can reach this speed even that i am allready 32 years old? Dude, you've been playing one week! You have to crawl before you can walk let alone run. Make sure your technique is clean and then spend 6 hours a day practicing if you want to advance quickly!

my darbuka constantly falling forward due to heavy head. i'm trying to hold it with my elbow but feel uncomfortable to play split technic that way. You have your elbow high in this video and instrument is not falling anywhere - how's that?

Ok my friend I'm no expert but i AM a mess - i can say i am playing a jambe as a darbuka cleanly under armpit high not efficiently between legs as tabla because hygiene. The reason i am able to do this is because of a free STRAP simultaneously non obstructively around my free wrist keeping it taut. It works.
If i use the big one strap goes around my shoulder. Actually i think it helps hit more accurately come to think of it only just.
I have experimented with different positions because tale of a man + his instrument+potentials surpasses all other approved things which were+are guesswork to begin with from other teachings. I'm apparently not too bad. I know I'll never be as lightning fast multi-tasking as these Disciplined Masters but that's ok I'll be me.
Do you. I notice upside down works well. Normal hold: holding hand is weak+slow to strike so i need to practice dexterity+ strengthening the wrist possibly balance and hold differently too. At the end of it we are different shapes+beings and no technique will fit all exactly. I make things fit me not other way around.
