A lot of interesting ideas for new projects! You're showing me the extent to which Home Assistant can be used. I'm looking forward to you going into more detail on how you've setup some of these routines, especially the goodnight routine.
OK guys, so you can go and rob Slacker labs if you open and close the door on the way in Nice and quick! I would be tempted to put a motion sensor at the door pointing into the room, that way you could differentiate someone opening the door from the inside vs opening the door from the outside. I love the cuckoo clock automation, and the flexible bedtime silent mode - mine was locked to a set bedtime so would fall apart if my daughter was tired earlier than normal. Great idea!
Ha. Motion sensor is inside. No way to to trigger it from outside. So your only chance is to know when dog mode is on. And make your break then. But then someone will be in the kitchen waiting to let the dog back in so you will get spotted quick.
@@SlackerLabs doh. Fair point! I forgot you'd be literally stood by the door haha. Once again thanks for the video. This is my favourite sort of home assistant video, true automations. Could you make a video (without compromising yourself) on how you achieve a hands free security system? You've got me thinking about it now, but there's just so many variables (if I have a guest over that needs to stay on the sofa, etc) it boggles me!
@@SlackerLabs I do kind of the opposite. I don’t want the alarm automatically disarming in the morning in case we sleep in. But I use the disarming as a trigger to change the house from night mode to day mode. Of course I do arm and disarm the house based on if we are home or not and it’s pet of the good night routine, but I just don’t auto disarm in the morning.
hi, great video as always, but need help with Cuckoo Clock, it seems that automation run as scheduled but nothing on speakers. I changed entity id but nothing. Any clue ?
What speaker/media_player are you using? My first thought is perhaps the media player can't play the wav files. Echos come to mind as one that may not be able to. Also, if you haven't tried this already, head over to the developer tools menu and then to services. Choose the Automation trigger service, pick the cuckoo clock automation with the pick entity button, and then check the skip conditions. If that works then you know the conditions are the issue. You could also use the automation debuggers, but for me the automation trigger service in developers tools helps identify the condition issue faster.
@@SlackerLabs I use google devices (mini, Nest hub max) for that I tried to point media content to local file (mp3) it didn't work. in developers tools; with and without check "skip conditions" nothing happened. from conditions I tried to leave only time , that didn't work either
@@damirg7572 Sorry...I totally missed this response. Thats weird. Do you have SSL? I have seen issues with the google devices having issues getting to home assistant if the url is not ssl. But never tracked down if that was an ssl issue or something else.

I will work on that. I am planning to try and focus more on the automation piece / angle. And I will make sure I cover this.
Nice one Jeff! Enjoyed it!
Great video! Really enjoyed it.
Thanks. I was not feeling 100% while filming this so hopefully it wasn’t too noticeable. Haha
I'll be stealing number 2! Once you make the video of course haha
Great ideas in this one!

I would like to see the set up for the mail/fedex/ups. I am super new to HA and think that would be something really cool to set up
I started scripting that video! I did one way back when I started the channel, but it honestly is way easier to setup these days.
thanks jeff! :)
Dog mode will me a life changer
I just blame the dog:) love dog mode
It needs some work. I have a lot of stuff I want to add to the logic, just haven't had time. But right now it seems to be working pretty well.

That’s a good one. I like using logic like that so that things adjust based on life
@@SlackerLabs it also helps that I have a ring alarm so I have my phone or Alexa as well as alarm panels to disarm it.
My wife was not a fan of the cuckoo clock. had to turn it off. I thought it was awesome!
Maybe a different chime?
