Yep me too ,,went straight to UA-cam after he mentioned it ,,my mate lived in one of the blocks can’t remember which ,,went round loads of times and never felt scared tho to be fair mostly during the day 😳
sptol!! you are wrong it is not now sandbrook park! I used to live on the valley and belive me there were plenty of people who worked on there! I used to live on Irvine block and they were amongst the craziest and the happiest times of my life! they were built before Thatcher! I remember ashfield valley rock holiday when we were profiled on look north west a whole 30 minute program about the punks in Rochdale.. it was amazing and I wouldn't change it for the world...
Used to visit there and chill, in the 80s, it was home to a very diverse blend of people, yes there was the punks and crew, it was also home to Vietnamese refugees, hard core smack heads, drug dealers, Afro Caribbeans , anarchists, piss heads, you name it they lived on the valley, it was also home to some Pakistani lads , who were mad as well, drinking , smoking and fighting !!!
Ashfield Valley was demolished between 1989 and 1992 it is now Sandbrook Retail Park. While Community Spirit of the decent folk who once lived there from the outset it was horrendous most lived in squalor, the flats stunk rubbish piled like mountains burnt out cars everywhere shops were robbed and vandalised almost every day no one could get jobs who lived there even the police wouldnt touch the place a song of the most horrible times Rochdales glad to be rid of that estate believe me
Ashfield Valley was 26 alphabetically named blocks of deck accessed flats just off Queensway Rochdale they were built in 1966,67 and by 1974 they were the place nobody wanted to live it was the typical run down estates of Thatchers Britain it stunk nobody dared go there people were found dead in stairwells decent folk who lived there couldnt get jobs it was awful
We never committed anything to Vinyl Madeleine. We have tracks on a couple of compilation albums, but that's about it. Most of our studio recordings ended up on long-lost cassettes.
Here after reading Mark Hodkinson’s book 👍🏼

Reading it right now! A really good book!
Lived there as a kid then again as a young punk. Brilliant place to live lots of good memories. Knocked them down early 90s.

@@jimsstringer6436 I've heard the Industrial Asylum comp before, but not this recording. Is this recording from 1982?

i think heavy metal as well is basically about being lots of bad things, at least nowadays (ABOVE ALL violence)
