  • Let's take a trip through the first local swap meet of the year here in North Texas. While this is a small swap meet, there we're still quite a bit to see. It was held at the Traders Village parking lot in Grand Prairie, TX.

Used to hit the Englishtown, NJ swap meet all the time with friends. Towards the end, it was great for tools, including getting Sears Craftsman items you needed to finish a set or make up a set to carry in the car, etc. I remember one guy telling me he had the best prices, blah, blah, blah. That's when I pulled out the Sears catalog out of my back pocket and said, "Let's see". I said, "I can buy them new for what you're selling them for, and no one has ever used them". He dropped his prices a lot and I bought them. My friend said to him, "He knows his prices, you're done..." LOL.

Thanks for this post. The crappy porthole windows cut into that Cutlass would be relatively easy to delete. I would be willing to bet (as in not very damned likely!) he never was offering that car for $1200-$1500 as you stated. To increase your viewership you could spend a little more time on the cars (and motorcycles!) that don't interest you personally that much, as you frequently just blow by a lot of really interesting vehicles. Instead the camera is pointed at the deteriorating asphalt, reproduction signs, 'Billy Bob' s' made in China trucker hats, junky Harbor Freight tools and used tires a fair bit of the time.

Unfortunately, there's always at least a few at the swap meets that are like that

Fair price is more like $1200. My 66 was in better shape than that one . Total cost to restore was $12,000. I have been offered $38,000 for it. Not for sale! Working on a 1968 396 SS now . It will be on the road in the spring. It is numbers matching.

I had to explain this to guys before and i will start mentioning it at the beginning of every swap meet video i make from now on. The main point of my videos is so that anyone who is interested in that particular swap meet but has never been, can get the gist of what its like. I kind of explain this my latest swap meet video. Its over 40 minutes long and thats with me stopping at just a few vendors. I will be attending the Pate Swap Meet in Ft worth Texas this weekend. Its one of the bigger swap meets in the country. Around 15 miles to walk the whole thing and I always go through every swap before i go back and start getting video. I like making these swap meet videos to give people an idea of what to expect. And unfortunately people are watching these videos through my eyes and sometimes I will stop to look at one car and pass by another that a guy really wanted to check out. But I Will see what I can do about getting more prices.
