Technology came a long way, What a wonderful piece of equipment, saving time, and a whole lot of man's labour. This has brought production to new and better level to the industry. Thanks for this video. John Deere has don it well.
its really quite a engineering marvel, its one machine doing 3 jobs, it gets rid of the slasher, and the delimber and its still a feller buncher, and you get rid of the skidder because they don't have to haul out full size trees. thats what the forwarder is for
They should be feeding the finished logs into a rack or onto a flatbed or something, save having to pick them up again. What an awesome piece of equipment. I wonder what the increase in efficiency is over two guys with a saw ?!?! A million percent ?!?!
There's a machine made by Valet, now Komatsu forestry that does just that, but somehow it never got too much attention, I think the problem was in the harvesting head itself. Because it had to do all the work it normally does, plus grappling tasks, which made the machine a bit slower in unloading
this is true, i am a tree surgeon / landscaper and iv had Greenpeace at sites where i fell trees, i would say i plant 100 trees to every 1 tree i cut down over the year and i cut down alot of trees in a year.
This is facinating technology. Could you imagine if you told a logger from 1940 that one man could level an acre of trees per hour (or whatever the actual rate is)? He would say, "Your friggin' nuts!" Here we are ~.~
If every country had in place a sustainable system in which large areas of trees are planted and grown at the same rate that they are cut down, this would not be an issue.
finally, we want progress or not; there are always good and bad results, and will continue to exist. so it is good to plant some trees to have to cut. We are 7 billion... ....so dont cry on keyboard, lets plant arround your neighborhood!!! :))))
I don't get all the negative comments about this video. I guess all of you haters have never used furniture, paper, books and anything made of wood. Hypocrites.
Does anyone know if this awesome machine simply holds the vertical tree steady or actually slightly lifts it when the saw is cutting near ground level? I assume the weight is removed/lifted so the blade doesn't get crushed.
hello warrior 7772 you are right when you go to cut a tree you grab it with your knifes which are the arms slide down to the height you want close your wheels for maximum grip and you just lift a bit so there's no downward pressure then cut. the saw makes a bit of a gap 1cm or whatever it cuts out but you can feel when the tree is cut then you lift up.a lot of the time when the tree is cut it sits on the bar and you life up it comes back,on some machines when the saw has cut through it will wind the wheels back wards to lift it up.a good operator like this bloke makes it all look easy, when your learning you bend a few bars which gets expensive.
now they just need to replace the machine operator with a computer software. btw how much is the ratio, fuel consumption of the machine $ VS. wood sales profit?
Just looking at the comments lol i am a logger and "I" thats me and me alone think that cutting down "native" trees is wrong and not good for the earth in saying that some native trees pose a threat or hazard and need to be put down .. this video shows a plantation forest grown for wood production and to help stop the blatant and down right murder of native forests around the world .. were i live New Zealand has reached a sustainable plantation forest cycle we plant and grow trees as fast as we cut them down some native is cut down but done selectively to give smaller trees of that type a chance to grow ... But this is just my humble opinion ..
Well actually trees produce oxygen while they grow. So from the oxygen-production point of view it's even better to cut grown-up trees (converting them intro buildings, furniture and other crap for the new billion of people) and plant fresh ones. The entire mass of tree is made of carbon it took from the atmosphere with co2. So trees are the best accumulators of the co2 gas (which causes you know what), but they have to be cut (grown-up trees don't produce oxygen)
I just bought of these at a garage sale last week. I'm going to use it for weeding my front yard. Thanks John Deere.
Technology came a long way,
What a wonderful piece of equipment, saving time, and a whole lot of man's labour.

Thanks for this video.
John Deere has don it well.
Absolutely amazing! What a piece of engineering. i love how it cuts close to the ground & strips off all the branches.
The John Deere H414 HARVEST HEAD is one of the best inventions ever.

SCV good to go!
A clean forest is a healthy forest. Trees as a crop! Its the next step into the future. Plus its jobs. Trees as a crop!
I wish I had a need for one of these, this things so cool. Maybe i'll buy some land and plant trees then this will be a retirement gift to myself.
Does it come with speakers blasting that music?
This totally needs to be a robot fighting attachment for the Pacific Rim sequel.
BU MAKİNEYE DAĞLAR DAYANMAZ TEBRİK EDİYORUM BUNU YAPAN KİŞİYİ MÜKEMMEL

It's Valmet, not Valet.
Very nice machine !

yes i do thanks a lot for explaining it to me have a great day
That thing is a monster
The inventor credits dating a member of greenpeace and starting a conversation about "worst nightmares" for inspiring this invention.
That makes me so happy.
this is a real machine!!
@kplayaja great to see you can back up your argument! hope you feel like a real hero here.
nothing runs like a deer and nothing smells like a john
THIS HEAD IS AWSOME NEED ONE!! COMPLETLY AW S O M E
The tree cutting is going already on a professional manner. But where tree is planted so quickly?
@deereman4700 im just glad i finally got you to smile. have a great day.
The background music makes it.
Trees are a crop. Do you also weep when a corn stalk is cut down?
If every country had in place a sustainable system in which large areas of trees are planted and grown at the same rate that they are cut down, this would not be an issue.
wow that saw really cuts! is it a sc 100?f11-19 or f11-10? what rpm?
You could build a log cabin in an hour with this thing.
finally, we want progress or not; there are always good and bad results, and will continue to exist. so it is good to plant some trees to have to cut. We are 7 billion...

This kind of reminds me of the scorpion harvester from this one game that involved dinosaurs, I can't remember the name of it though.
I don't get all the negative comments about this video. I guess all of you haters have never used furniture, paper, books and anything made of wood. Hypocrites.
holy crap!

Damn right we have!
now they just need to replace the machine operator with a computer software.

Muy práctica esta gran máquina.
Just great! Well... it was a pleasure breathing oxygen with all of you.
Doesn't the chainsaw go blunt from cutting so low to the ground?
good jobs
Infernal, it's only DEAD

Whatcha gonna do in hardwood, or large pine?
bellissimo !!!!
very poor choice of music, it's so creepy lmao.
nice harvester btw, keep up the good work, nothing runs like a deere !
Hell nah this shreds, just like this machine
incredible machine ! i wonder how much $$$ Put it on robot wars
Now build us a machine that will replace those trees just as fast. That would really impress us
What is the song name?
Plz i love it, but its very sad watching this kind of stuff :(
@Piorux the pay is good if you work for yourself but with some contractors they dnt pay aswell training can cost alot of money
we finally made it.!!!!
Супер! Посмотрели бы мужики,те,что с топориками по
ёлкам да соснам,да по снегу сучки рубили!
There are a bunch of guys who got jobs at the new John Deere factory to build these.
helal olsun makınaya gercekten 10 numara bır iş
What is the song name?
YOU REQUIRE MORE MINERALS
E muita tecnologia!!!!
That is modern time, trees go wery fast. Don`t grow so fast. Sad to watch, but that is how it goes nowadays (
The enemy of Avatar, the Blue boy are coming ...
impressing and terrifying
They should have called it The Tree Nommer
I really like that music. Does anyone know the titel or who play. "song:s" name?
Anyone??
Com certeza florestas plantadas!!!! Nao adianta julgar sem conhecer. Vai atras e veja seus próprios atos antes de pedir SALVE A NATUREZA.
I would like to buy that machine plz tellbmevthevdetails
dobarrrrrr
Adoro
Metal.
thumbs up if the crablogger from thunderbirds brought you here
Man, those are low cuts. I would be too afraid to hit dirt and dull the chain.
soon that will be us being overpowered by a more powerful being
music is from starcraft 1 ? :)
LOL...Go get'em!
Source?
the is goooooooooooooooood machine
asa ceva n-as fi crezut ca exista
TIMB......oh it's gone......lol
@mkarnerfors No, I've heard this song. I can't put my finger on it though, sounds like Dream Theater.
Salvem a natureza, fique sem papel!

Anyone can identify the background music?
wow............
ta invertendo tudo
song please
I tried it with my Gracenote application... no matches at all.Probably some generic piece ordered by JD for this ad specifically.
omg, its crazy.
nice machine lol
@juniorloz More like 50000 layman Jobs around the industry are gone. because of the ingenious work of few smart engineers ..
it was rhetorical in case you didnt get the sarcasm
Once there was the axe...
I would hate to have that thing get ahold of my leg.
looks like the lorax in real life...
OMG
save the woods!
that guy has watch how low he cuts u never kno when theres a rock on the other side but the lower the stump the better
@Halodri13 Would be pretty damn violent.
Desde ese día el Hijo árbol no volvió a ser el mismo
@kplayaja Because pine tree create oxygen.
we can do that with machinery, why aren't there giant fighting robots yet?
Goodbye forest!!
When I look at this machine I always imagine what would an ancient romanian or a medieval folk think of it.
🤜💥🤛
💪👍👍
si hablamos solamente de ingeniería y no de ecología se sacó un diez; caso contrario tristemente mal.
