The meatball had a choice, either to use the boy to free himself and escape the lab (normal ending), or to unplug himself and die (secret ending).

SPOILERS ** i think i got it! so from based off the theory that you are controlling the boy and this game is all based off controlling maybe when the boy deactivated that "thing"(the secret ending) you stopped controlling him and thats why the screen goes black because your no longer controlling him and hes in his own mind he controlls himself now, (i dont think the boy died,you can see he moves before the screen goes black) and he or us controllers of the boy freed the other people of being controlled thats the whole point of the game, to get free and free others with you,and even if the boy maybe died (i dont think he did) he freed everyone, and the games called "inside" is because the people that are inside are controlled and are living life as slaves so you have to help them to get out and live the life and stop this madness, and when you continue without deactivating the secret you are not helping anyone just yourself, and when you get out theres no point in it because you just die and dont do anything YOU didnt help or save the people they are just gonna stay as slaves all there life so its just that complicated rather then just going through the whole game just help from the beginning and free all of them i hope this makes sense tell me what do you think? im really curious to what this game is

I think in the game, the player themselves is like a virus that has infected the boys mind, hence the name 'inside'- you are inside the boys mind. You are controlling him, like you do other people throughout the game- you are what is striving him onwards to free the 'hive mind'. Your presences has over ridden his consciousness. However In the secret ending you free the boy from your mind control by unplugging the machine (notice how he drops to his knees- similar to how the other zombies do one you've relinquished your control on them?) in the original ending, you are just doing exactly what your programmed to do.
So have you broken free of the mind control and that's why the people are after you? Because you have the ability/knowledge to use the mind-control things and they want to have you under control? Or is it the blob the entire time, controlling you to end it all?
I suppose it's all just a huge experiment by the people just to see if their mind controlling actually works, In this part you can imagine all these computers were just setup to control the boy to get to the meatball and "set itself free" but in the end the meatball actually just enters a bigger cage where there's trees and a lake and dies afterwards...Just a huge experiment, notice how the people didn't actually try to stop the meatball from escaping because they all knew where it was going, it was all staged...

I think the kid is an avatar of the person on the ending,because whn the controle is turned off the kid just shuts down,i think the person in the ending is some kind of rebel or some shit
+Jorge Sandoval , In the game , when the giant meatball was breaking the whole place up , it landed on a man made model of a mountain with a beam of light shining near the river , and as you can see in the main ending , the giant meatball broke out , rolled down the mountains and landed right on the spot where the beam of light is pointing , so you're correct , it was all a set up.
I wish there was a little more to this ending, but wowww this game has me reeling. Incredible! Absolutely amazing, the gameplay, storytelling, pacing is all great... That kid is actually one of the zombie husks that you see controlled through out the game. The plug that he pulled was the main one making the technology to control them possible. So when he pulled it out the blob that controlled him had lost the ability to control him so he went limp like the other husks when they're not controlled.
