I was so sad when she was actively trying to date him and give up on Josh (a healthy choice), but he was spiraling and ignoring her at the wedding. And the fact that she hooked up with him at first because she wanted a distraction from Josh (even though Greg liked her)-! Their whole relationship was like one big missed connection.
This scene was so beautiful. How honest they both were with eachother, acknowledging they are/were hurting, but also their mistakes. And we can see the lingering feelings they still have for eachother, despite Rebecca believing she's in love with Josh, and Greg sort of letting her "off the hook" to find happiness elsewhere.
I agree. With all of the ambitious music numbers and dramatic twists and turns this quiet scene was probably the best acted and written scene of the whole series. It shows the characters putting down their facades, their fantasies, their insecurities and their ulterior motives to just be honest and vulnerable with each other.
Bagels After Midnight you're literally under every video of this show and you're also making videos about it... And they are good too!!! Urgh, if I could only analyze old plays and novels by old, weird German men, dang it, I would crush my graduation exams.... I'd rather analyze any TV show, that is kinda popular but also liked by me 😂😂😂😅😅😅 Hahaha
Chances are for dramatic purposes he'll probably still have problems from time to time. People don't just transform overnight and though Greg is trying he still has his own bad habits, attitudes and behaviors that will still likely pop up. This show does such a lovely job of showing the subtleties of human motivation though. No character is evil, no character is flawless. They're all a bit messy and selfish but still mean well and ultimately want to do good.
And THIS scene is the reason I know they are endgame! They are honest with each other and they are their real selves. They don't expect anything from the other. So perfect.
Nope. Nooooope. Nope nope nope. The show is far too clever to allow itself to be set up as "who does she end up with". She'll go through the whole quirky back-and-forth Josh-Greg thing throughout the season, but they won't make some sort of Decision the final point of it all. The actual endgame: RB proves that she's far too messed up, selfish, and obsessive for any sort of a love life. Currently, she's just going through a well-known phase called "X is dodging commitment and Y is no longer into me, so I should obviously force my way back into Y's life and away from X, just to make things more awkward for everyone involved".
Not sure if whether or not they end up together is really the point. They're more like two ships passing in the night. The thing they share most in common is that they're both emotionally damaged children of divorce who are using their early adulthood to work through those issues in their personal relationships. It's more about their growth as people and learning to be more giving and trusting in relationships and less selfish and guarded.
The way I see it, this kind of honest interaction is supposed to be how people communicate in all relationships -- romantic, platonic, whatever. Just because you can be your real self with someone doesn't mean you're soulmates -- ideally, you'd fill your inner circle of friends with people that you can be real around.
i keep returning to this moment, and if nothing else it's because this remains one of the best, most emotionally charged scenes from the show. more so if you remove all the dark mental health episodes. but this is so... moving? and meaningful? i don't think she's had a moment this authentic or vulnerable with any other of the boys. i like skylar, i really do, but man. i miss santino fontana. he brought so much depth and transparency to greg. there's still a little pay off, having him there, them being together for a little bit -though, I really hate they were together only to break up for Rebecca to re-learn the lesson she learnt in season 3 with Nathaniel so like... fine?- but it's not nearly as gratifying and powerful as it would've been to have santino back.
I totally agree with all of this. On one hand I understand and like that they went with a different actor for creative reasons- and Skylar definitely put in a ton of effort to learn Santino’s body movements and mannerisms- but there’s something so moving about seeing these two together. I wish there was a way to see Santino in season 4. Maybe in my dreams aha
Agreed 100%. I think Skylar did great, but there is just something so special about Santino. I wish we could have seen that version of season 4 with him back.
I can't believe this scene is longer, deeper and way more emotional than Rebecca apologizing to Josh about years of truly horrible behavior. I love this scene, I wish the other scene was as good
Watching the penultimate episode, and still on #TeamGreg. Even if they don't end up together, their relationship will always be a model to me where genuineness triumphs romanticism.
rebecca hesitated cause she knows deep down she isn't happy with him and he doesn't make her happy like greg really makes her happy without her trying so hard its just natural and I think she should of just let that natural progression happen instead of forcing this notion of happiness shehad with josh she once had as a teen and deluded herself that she will be happy again.
It's season 4 and I'm still team Greg all the way, make him comeback pleaseeeee. Rebecca's all better now, moved on from Josh all that and as much as I like Nathaniel, he's bad for her. Greg is the only one, they both were quite challenged by their situation and needed recovery. Now Rebecca's all recovered, GREG LITERALLY NEEDS TO COME BACK AND MARRY REBECCA.
+Ren Mez yeah, that was worse than sleeping with his best friend. Now, I just want her to be alone and focus on her career and herself, also I don't think I like new Greg. Not hating on New Greg but I love Santino Fontana
@@min5963 I get the feeling. I miss Santino Fontana. It's weird that Valencia and Heather are team greg tho. It makes me think they might end up together after all.
A very very lovely scene. However I don't think Rebecca is going to change her mind about Josh anytime soon though she may feel conflicted about Greg. She loves the idea of Josh that she has in her head but finds that she has more common traits with Greg. Classic love triangle with a delusional female lead at the centre of it. Let the games begin!
It's not just that she's a "delusional female". Josh excites her. He's the reason she moved out to California to begin with. There's usually only a handful of people in your life you feel that way about and often it doesn't entirely make sense why. It's like Jordan Catalano from "My So Called Life". Greg makes more sense though he's also an underachiever and has his own issues as well. Ultimately the show's about Rebecca's growth and maturing through her issues with men and coming into her own whoever she ends up with.
Yes but she's having delusions that Josh is her Prince Charming and that they'll have their happily ever after one day. He has a positive effect on her with his optimism and happy-go-lucky personality but he's also toxic to her as a romantic partner cos he can't match her on an intellectual level and doesn't want to be in a relationship with her. I don't think Greg is right for her now nor she for him because of their respective hang-ups but it's more interesting to explore their dynamic. That being said, I'm Team Get Mental Help Rebecca more than anything...
Could you upload where they first meet and Greg says she's his type because she's ignoring him? It's a hilarious moment that I can't find on UA-cam and you do such a good job with the reprises and little moments that the official channels leave off.
Team Greg since Day 1, The dude is awesome ☺
Team Greg all day, every day. I was literally yelling "No! Noo! NoooOOO!" at my screen at the end of last season.
i hope he will come back and be with beca
Team Greg for ever 😢♥️ he deserve better and omg I definitely don't like him
Connor Rodney same here. He’s always been my favorite ❤️ me and my boyfriend were both team Greg lol
I was never team Greg or team Nathaniel or team Josh ......
I was always on team Rebecca
i literally gasped when he revealed why he got the DUI, i got all teary-eyed and everything-amazing acting and pacing and writing
This scene is Emmy material. In fact, if it were a movie, its Oscar material. The acting is that good.
It was a Shit Show.
And then she had sex with Josh cause she was sad and upset about Greg. It was all just a mess.
Anyone else emotionally wrecked by this scene?

🙋🏻♀️
It feels so real.
Rebecca's face when Greg say I love you... OMG
so...I keep choking up...
"We are... wearing matching outfits..."

Greg is my favorite and I really think that Rebecca is meant to be with him.She can be herself with him.Love the new Greg, hope he will stay like this.
Chances are for dramatic purposes he'll probably still have problems from time to time. Hasmik Nersesyan I'm desperate they're gonna get together
Rachel Bloom BETTER be getting an Emmy nom for Best Actress next year; simply for this scene alone. Her facial expressions here are fucking spot on.
I absolutely love this guys voice. Speaking and singing. Plus, he's f*cking gorgeous 💕. I miss Santino as Greg so much.
And THIS scene is the reason I know they are endgame! They are honest with each other and they are their real selves. They don't expect anything from the other. So perfect.

@@SockPuppet80 you were kinda spot-on
this scene is heartbreaking, and I'm still crushed about him being gone...

Te chemistry between Santino Fontana and Rachel Bloom it's the reason why I loved crazy ex-presidente girlfriend.

So true!! Love what u wrote :)

I'm NOT crying.
I'm sweating. Through my eyes.

Genuineness is true authentic love
Romanticism never was
This scene honestly broke my heart. I love Greg. But i love how they were so honest and mature
Every now and then I return to this video to grow even sadder
"This new person" looking back that is hilarious.
I have rewatched this clip so many times. This is my favourite scene! So real and so touching.
Most heartbreak scene last season! 🤯😭
I miss Greg! But I'm loving Nathaniel ☺
Greg is obviously the one for Rebecca❤️
rebecca hesitated cause she knows deep down she isn't happy with him and he doesn't make her happy like greg really makes her happy without her trying so hard its just natural and I think she should of just let that natural progression happen instead of forcing this notion of happiness shehad with josh she once had as a teen and deluded herself that she will be happy again.
Not even 3 seconds in and just seeing the box of donuts makes me tear up...this show was so good!
3:07: "Wow, you're like this new enlightened person."
"Not really, not yet. Someday I hope. Maybe in Season 4 when I'm Skylar Astin."
"I don't need to know" Great judgment there
so he gave her a UTI and she gave him a DUI
I wonder if Greg will ever come back to the show. I miss him.
Naiara I don't think so he's no longer under contract with the show he might make a few guest appearances but I think that may be it
Mostly likely he will make a guest appearance in the final season (season 4).
I miss old Greg thou
the show is not the same without greg ;(

Jd Garcia I’m also team Greg but Rebecca slept with his dad. That’s messed up. I don’t think they could make it work.
+Ren Mez yeah, that was worse than sleeping with his best friend. Now, I just want her to be alone and focus on her career and herself, also I don't think I like new Greg. Not hating on New Greg but I love Santino Fontana

He's so handsome
With filming being what it is during the pandemic they can keep scenes like 2:30 & 2:45 at a minimum while shooting more scenes like 2:36
It was just sad to see this "come on"

I have this scene at the start of a video I just uploaded here:ua-cam.com/video/PAmWOh8HZHY/v-deo.html
