I'm seeing a source that defines "INTER"digital" as a palmar grasp w/ the pencil exiting the grasp dorsally between either digits 3&4, or 4&5 (contacting 1-3 palmar, 4-5 dorsally). Which makes more sense. The way you describe it would be better defined as "INTRA" digital since the biomechanics are similar between #1&4-5 is similar functionally.
