Fabulous music. I have had the privelege of singing this a good few times, and even just hearing it causes the hairs to stand up on the back of my neck. If you believe what is being sung , the effect is complete!
thank you for posting this. will use this piece for choir practise. My choir will be singing this song very soon at a festival and we have been finding it difficult to change the keys and speed.
Lovely music by Charles Hubert Hastings Parry, yes. But they should have posted also that the man who wrote the words was the Welsh poet Henry Vaughan. Without his words -- no music, no anthem. Let's give credit where credit is due -- and glory to God.
It's lovely, thanks so much for all your work, but watch out - there are some typos in the alto! According to my edition (the Year Book Press, F.W.Deane 1916) bar 8 should still be a G, and the word manger should fall to a C sharp and the next note should be a D. Also 8 bars from the end, where the penultimate note should be a B not a D. I don't know about the other parts, haven't looked. These videos are fabulous for practicing! Thanks so much
This is great. We can sing along at home! Thanks for posting these.
I have never loved a composer like i love parry
Heavenly I love to meditate to this.

Stunning performance.
Dr Rose, I presume.
I wondered that. In any case, old Guildfordians should enjoy bar 35 ...
Stupendous
Well done.
Roderic, it's only one note that's missing, the low G on '[for] THY [sake]'

If the score were corrected at least in the bass, this would be of a little more use. I love to hear this music.

As I expected. Of the higher things in life, removed from the vulgar drivel masquerading as music these days.
