Dude, your vid flashed up in my feed last night, I started watching it, before it was finished I’d ordered the watch with Amazon prime and it’s now on my wrist. It’s outstanding for the price and doesn’t look too giant on my small wrists.
You are a legend my friend! Glad you enjoy it!!!!
The wife parts are the best
I'm sure they are are ooh er missus 😂
Just to caveat that with mine looking over my shoulder so are hers and I love her to bits ❤ 😀👍
The life is better without!
absolutely - would love to see the wife do a short review of the MWC's collection and see which ones she doesn't like and which ones she does, and how Mr Pagani reacts. Schuper! My brother who died a few years ago after battling drugs for half his life was a Lorus fan, while I was Seiko. Could never got on board with some of the Lorus designs, but now I've ditched Seiko and wear a lot of Ali watches and of course swiss micro and Casio and G-Shock. That Lorus without a rotating bezel is a mistake though, otherwise its is Schuper! ha ha ha
She always calls it tbf.
Have to agree with you - my father owned a Pogue in the 1970's but it got damaged beyond repair, and I've always had that on my top 5 "wants"when it comes to my watches. He then had a couple of Lorus's, but never lost his love for Seiko. Since he passed away in 2009, I now have his last Seiko, a titanium Kinetic, but I never really liked it hat much. Put it on a few different straps, and BOOM! The Milanese! Now my other half wears it all the time, but that is nice as she never met my father, so it sorts of connects them in a way. I have an SKX009 and a just added an SRPE51 to my collection, so my love for Seiko is very clear! This is the watch that might sway me towards Lorus too now! Another connection to my dad's memory. Anyway, thanks for the content, always great to watch your videos and get a proper enthusiast's perspective on decent watches for the everyman!
I, like MWC, have a partner who hates this watch. I'd love nothing more than to start my collection with it just to annoy her and see her face 🤣 love the videos and the insight into what makes a good watch! Why don't our partners see what we see?!?! Good luck to everyone ❤
Had a Lorus when I started in college. It was a square-shaped quartz and still alive until now. Good to see Lorus is still pumping out nice watches until now.
I've had a Lorus quartz chronograph for 20 years and still wear it. Totally reliable. This looks great and would sit well in my watch box and on my wrist.
My Dad had a Pogue that was gifted to him when I was a kid. Unfortunately that is the only watch of his that I don't have since it went missing. When I first saw this Lorus I knew which watch you were going to compare it to. Interestingly I just wore a Pogue last week at Austin RedBar. A member has one. It was great to see it in person again.
MWC's wife's take on watches is often a good indicator of whether my missus would like the time piece as well... 😅
Wow! I would have never considered a Lorus as a great looking watch, but after seeing this review I am now definitely looking to get one.
There’s some really fun Loruses (Lori?) out there. Some of those knockabout field watch designs are very tempting for such a small amount of money.
Go the full lume dial 37mm Lorus Sports Lumibrite. Looks like an 80s Hamilton field watch. 40 quid, fully stainless steel, 100m WR, Seiko quartz. I wacked a single domed sapphire crystal on mine. It’s fantastic!
@@redletterl78 What a dream, I’m contemplating getting it for my son as his first watch. At that price it doesn’t really matter if he bashes it up either does it?
My first sports watch as a kid was a Lorus and my dad owned one too! Really like this!
I've the same watch in blue, managed to get it from h Samuel for £90, I've mine on a marine national strap... Great vintage vibes
I think the large dial with the fixed and thin bezel (possible tach placement?) also lends itself to a being a case for a Pogue sequel. Still nice to see Lorus getting the recognition it deserves
My first analogue watch back in the 80’s was a lorus and I loved it. This would sit nicely alongside the seikos and casios that live in my box. Great review.
That's definitely a looker! I hope they keep bringing other models similar to this one! Absolutely gorgeous!
Pretty cool little piece, as an owner of two 6139"s it would also as many have said be great to see seiko do a modern version
Nice review and watch Russ - I also have a bit of a sleeper Lorus (ref RH927LX9) which has definitely heavily borrowed from big bro Seiko’s design back catalogue and it’s cheap as chips! It has a Seiko Turtle style case and dial layout but with unmistakenly SKX styled hands (push pull crown at 4 o’clock too) - and it even has fully lumed hands and indices🤩. Fixed bezel (ah well) and 100m water resistance. It’s PVD coated with gilt accents and comes on a reasonable quality 20mm silicone strap too - case back even has a very close “Seiko wave style”engraving on it. Quartz movement but you can’t have everything for your 40 or so British pounds! What a bargain! It has the “slightly too big dial” thing going on also but the look is unmistakably Seiko and still smaller than the Duro. Worth checking it out👍
I had a Lorus as my first stainless steel digital back in 1981! I need to dig it out now 👍
Nice! I got a quartz Lorus as a teenager and now I have bought one used Seiko, my first and only automatic yet.
Great to see Lorus getting some love (albeit not from Mrs MWC). I’ll be extremely happy to give it a very happy home, as Lorus is absent from my collection; a crime!
I'm a big vintage Seiko collector, and I really like the look of that Lorus. Keep up the great content 😊
Not bad! Thanks for the opportunity, and good luck to all!
That on acrylic would be next-level. A lovely collection starter, no question.
I inherited my father’s original Blue-dial 6139 Pogue manufactured 1979. He’d hardly worn it. Few new spring-bars and replaced the tiny pusher gaskets and it’s immaculate. Sent me down a watch rabbit hole that led to a huge collection and the various watch communities. Quite a journey kicked off from one Pogue. Would love a re-issue to sit next to its grandfather!
Hello from Chicago! MWC, I do appreciate the detail you go into each watch, and you obviously appreciate watch history! Keep up the fantastic work!
Be double the cost if it had seiko on it
Another great video showcasing affordable watches! Not seen this brand for years! Used to own both a Lorus and a Pulsar when I was younger! Ordered right out the Argos catalogue using that little blue pen 😂
I've been suved for a while. So glad to see how far you've come in so short of a time. Cheers!
These lorus automatics came out around 3 years ago, basically an old style seiko 5 but bigger.i got a "divers style"one when they first came out and ive worn it more or less daily, very accurate and solid, well made.if you liked the old seiko 5 youl'll like these.
Years ago I had a Lorus and wish I still had it. It ran exactly on time for months. Never had to set it only lost about 1 minute over 6 months.
Had my eye on this one for a while, definitely under the radar!
I love your videos. The presentations are exactly what I need about these watches. We are both Casio enthusiasts 😍
I always had my eyes on Lorus but I think you don't get that much information on the web about it. Glad to see you doing videos about them.
Love from Germany ♥️
Thank you my friend!!!
Terrific show!!! Lorus just added to my purchase list....and my wife isn't happy!
I saw this and immediately thought of my Seiko recraft 70’s style watch. Pretty nice. For whatever reason though, there never appears to be many Lorus watches on the US version of Amazon.
As an Argos Catalogue watch fan, I've always had a soft spot for Lorus. It's good to see the brand getting some love 😊
Same here! Their field watches are just great!
I love the Lorus titanium field watch. Similar vibes to the Seiko SNX but a hell of a lot cheaper and titanium. Will have to keep my eye on them a lot more as this one had slipped past me. Thanks for the heads up!
Couldn't agree more with your comment about the Titanium field watches from Lorus as I have three of them in my collection which I wear often. I also have the day and date stainless steel Lumibrite version which is really awesome as the lume lasts for several hours. All have 100M water resistance which is great for most people.
I like this one a lot. Hopefully Seiko reissues the Pogue in upcoming years.
thank you for the honest laughs, i daily spent a few minutes with a happy face and hopefully not a happy trigger finger with watches just like this Lorus Cheers!!!!
Appreciate you sending me down the road to explore Lorus. Looks like a lot of watch for the money.
I was offered that watch. The green version. First thought was...hum it's a lorus, second one was...hum, automatic. It's been one of my favourites to use lately. Definitely has that vintage vibe. It just feels right. It's a little big but not too much.
Perfect nostalgic watch. I absolutely love it. I would wear it.
Good find! I’ve eyed some Lorus watches before but I haven’t seen such a Seiko looking one before!
Looks good! The price is fine, automatic movement. What's not to like!
Keep up the good work, your videos have reignited a passion for watches I’d almost forgotten I had.
What a lovely watch. In India we have Alba. Great looking watches, but again like the Lotus really big to appeal to the mass market. Really wish we get these watches in a more wearable side at the same prices. Would love that. Great video!
Thanks for making me add Lorus on my list of watches to check out. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for always keeping it FUN!
Since I inherited my dad's hands, which look like catcher's mitts, I always appreciate a 42mm+ dial. And this one is nice looking to boot.
I remember lorus was my first descent watch many moons ago. Wore it every day. Thought it was the dogs. Keep up the good work. Always look forward to the wife's thoughts . 😂😂
That's gorgeous watch. I also have 6.5 inch wrist and definitely will be happy with it. Lorus please release one with pepsi bezel and gold dial. Sales will go next level 😂
Quite a beautiful watch. I wish the markers did glow though.
It also reminds me of a 55th Anniversary 5, just larger. Would love to see this one on a leather rally strap.
YOU ARE MY WINNER MY FRIEND!!! CONGRATS! Send me an email with your address and full name!!!
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTORNo way! Thanks ahead of time!
Didn't know Lorus was part of Epson Group... thanks for the info!
I guess we all hope for a Pogue reissue coming in...! My black Pogue needs a successor.
Great content, cheers from Buenos Aires.
Great nostalgic design on a budget!
Definitely a great nostalgic piece, maybe Lorus will have soon more to deliver!
Recently bought a lorus lumibrite. Nice watch.
I have a vintage Lorus and this one would look at home next to it in the watch box
I really like this one! I've been watching for a bit now and I must say that I love your energy lol. The watch world can be a little boring and serious at times, but you make it a lot more fun and entertaining! :)
This is the first I’m learning of Lorus. Love the watch will definitely have to check them out!
Wow, that is a really nice find.
Amazon somehow managed to make the red look brown in the product pictures. I would not had looked twice, if not for your video. Now it is in my cart
I will love this beauty in my collection. I have a tiny little collection of affordable watches, don't have a Seiko being out of budget unfortunately but this beautiful Lorus (Seiko) will be cherished and loved and will complete my missing watch (Seiko/Lorus)
Extremely stunning watch love the vintage vibes
Exciting stuff from Lorus. I think I may have found a good option for my first automatic watch!
Thanks, I do not miss any of your videos. I love the channel and it makes me rediscover the watch world.
My first automatic watch was a silver dial 6139 Pogue. I would love Seiko to do a 6139-600x reissue, but it will probably be insanely expensive.
I love how this looks. If Seiko release a Pogue this year, I'm buying it.
This was my first video, from your channel, watched by me. Liked it, hence the thumbs up, yes Lorus are owned & made by Seiko. As well, yes Orient's got a lot more apparent Autonomy, than any other Seiko subsidiary. That watch definitely has some "ReHashed" previous Seiko model vibes cause, with the exception of a chrono complication? They used the Mould/Case Cutting Schematics for this new model. Personally will likely go Blue or Black but your silver dial model shows up the similarities best. Keep up the Great Work, you have a new convert!
Your wife's thoughts are the best thing on these videos. She's hilarious.
Lorus an argos mainstay, had a few over the years as beaters. What my wife would say, she'd kill me if i got another watch (but if I'd won it....😅) Nice bit of detective work with the pouge case, hopefully a new release in the offing. Great reveiw, cheers.
The best part of "What the wife said" is watching MWC's face slowly collapse as he reads Mrs. MWC's thoughts and a little bit of his soul dies. We've all been there, bro, whether it is a watch or a pet lizard we brought home, lol. But we love the little killjoys (wives) all the same.
It looks like an amazing new watch to be added to the collection. I had the same thought as you! I think SEIKO will be reissuing too.
The all green is super funky, but I’d agree that the one you show is the best. Great video
So glad you did Lorus! Great watches they have! 🥰
Wow, honestly haven’t heard of them before, but after seeing this definitely need to look their offerings more! Pepsi and a silver face is awesome!
This definitely looks like a Pogue! As a Seiko fan, I wish Lorus would make more daring design choices, like a true testing ground for Seiko enthusiasts. While the materials might be on the lower end, the mechanisms are decent.
Brilliant review as always MWC, great piece overall for the price
Would be super easy to drop an NH36 into it and you have a wicked watch!
This watch reminds me of a Caravelle watch I was intending to buy a couple of years ago. Recently I've been seeing interesting things from the "value brands" in Latin America Q&Q Superior is selling decently and are a great alternative to casio MTP line
I've got a few Lorus' and really like the quality they (Seiko 😂) put out. I would love to add this one to the collection! I really hope you're right MWC about the pogue being reissued!
Another well priced watch from Lorus, with a stunning cushion case giving us that beautiful Pogue look.Pity about the lume but it's still a fantastic retro looking stunner 👍
I have 2 lorus watches, one which is an auto and love them, this one looks absolutely stunning!
Like the pogue point, it would be great to see a reissue as the used market is full of Frankenstein pogue watches
A very nice clean looking affordable watch, loved the video thank you for uploading
I have a Lorus "Daytona" (RT345HX9) and Im absolutely loving it. A brand often overlooked.
A very nice looking watch indeed. Like you mentioned it would be winner if it was in a 40mm case though. Thanks for showing us this Lorus.
Lorus always gets a big thumbs up from me! They are really nice for the price! This is an awesome little watch! They launched a few models here in South Africa as well that's super pretty!
Thanks for your videos MWC! Always a good time!! 👍🏼👍🏼
As usual You brought positive wibes into the show. Great job! Enjoying watching Your content!
Loving the 1970s vibe. I had a Lorus sports dive watch some years ago with a bright orange rubber strap trying to mimic an Omega Seamaster, it cost about £70 but looked like it was worth 10 times that.
Lots of admiring looks & the watch didn't look bad either 😂🤣
That is a beautiful watch. Never heard of Lorus before your video but im glad i did. Not gonna lie, when you first showed it i got Seiko Pogue vibes instantly but then said nah it cant be, the dial color is wrong and no subdial. Should have trusted my gut lol.
Thanks for the vid. Def like the design and will be looking forward to see what Seiko does with it.
Not on Instagram, but love your vids and you are responsible for quite a few of my Casio and G-Shock purchases
Love this! I’ve been looking to break my Casio addiction and purchase my first automatic - this might be the one! 🙂
Thanks for finding these gems!
Great looking watch, i think lorus make some underated watches tbh for us folk that can't afford the expensive watches and enjoy collecting ⌚ thanks for sharing
I have never owned a Lorus. Always looked a tad low grade. I don't like the thin non-rotating bezel. But I could be swayed? Rest of it seems fine. A Seiko auto for a ton seems good.
I share your frustration with respect to the lume! Thanks for the review.
I agree with Mrs MWC on the watch looks , thankjs a great video.
I use a Lorus quartz watch for work and it's taken an absolute beating. I think you're right though, 40mm would be a better size for most people and maybe just under £100 would get more sales?
I've not long started my watch journey and I pretty much have all casio, aside from a tissot and a microbrand. Always been interested in a seiko / Lorus 🤔
