The only thing is that your opponent just needs to make sure they overwatch the second unit in the movement phase instead of waiting for the charge phase.
Great game! I definitely think the avatar needs to be played more cagey now since he is considerably less resilient; but especially in Aspect Host he is still a beast.
Gary this was the first time using the codex and army, and as we said at the start we just wanted to show some of the new aspects of the codex. It was a competitive game or a tournament game.
@@VanguardTactics That was clear, just a lot of moving then later adjusting, changing moves, etc. That isn't codex dependent. Still an informational video.
Oddly enough, melta damage gets around the half damage rule. The Avatar is much more fragile now. I’d say the nightbringer is tougher as it has a +5 FNP, reanimation protocols and he’s only 5 points more. I’m not sure if the Avatar is a good deal at 300 points.
@@cylondorado4582 Bit of an unfair generalization, but I'll grant you that some of the more vocal SM lovers seem to *just* want power armoured angry burly men running at each other, chainswords revving, and duke it out in the midfield. An army that doesn't play 40k that way will always catch a lot of flak.
@@maxmagnus377 You’re totally right. I was especially thinking of it that way because I was recently talking to a Space Marine player who said Wraithlords were OP in 4E because S4 couldn’t hurt them. I said they went down pretty easy to Lascannons and missile launchers, but he said that didn’t matter because you couldn’t shoot them in combat back then. Which I didn’t really think mattered that much, since the thing still has to walk up the board. And I only just remembered that Space Marines had, “And they shall know no fear” back then, so if they lost in close combat they could just leave 😆
@@darkjack164 I think this is a big improvement though. It was simple before, but opponents didn’t like Fate Dice and Eldar players didn’t like how it skewed their lists into being good but boring (as he mentions at one point in this video.

Not to be negative, but it seems like the Eldar are gonna be super fun, for a one sided game, yet again. Why oh why can James Wokshop not just make Eldar so that they are not OP???
@@paulbridge6063 We’ll see, I’ve seen three battle reports since the drop (all against Space Marines) and this is the only one where Eldar won, but this guy probably is the one that put the most thought into it.
Always happy to see some Eldar 👍
Ah yes the eldar child matchup
Salamanders are Eldar children?
@evanaras3254 salamanders barbecue eldar kids
Put another Eldar child on the BBQ
That was fun, lads. Thanks. Up the Eldar! 😅
"Look at it, its really Sharp" 🤣🤣
Awesome job boys!!
I think you can use the no overwatch 2x in one turn, once in movement, then the charge phase and they both last to end of turn.

That terrain looks nice
Digging into this
I got so pissed the didn't use the battlefocus to run the avatar away t1.. it's like the perfect time
Reading his hard.
So is spelling apparently. Is**
Steven (unwillingly) cheated at 2:46:33. The 1 was the new roll, the 6 turned into 5 not the 1. To be fair, I had to rewind it twice to make sure ;-)
good stream bois
cant you reroll the damage roll with fuegan in a firedragon squad? if yes the 1 shot with sustained is even better.
lol EVERYONE missed Mike's nice guys finish last joke.
Nice nice nice!!!!🎉
strenght 12 vs the avatar with oath is 2+ to wound is it not ? @49 mins

It was nice seeing the Aeldari in action, but that was some pretty sloppy play on the Aeldari part.

Doesn't lykis stop flicker jump damsge?
Doesnt the avatar have resistance to meltas and flamers any more?
Hasn't had that since 8th

Call it Eldar.
Anyone want to buy a eldar army 😢
Lol you are trying real hard not to say they are broken 😂
Space Marine players think everything is broken.

Because they aren't. Glass cannon army with a high learning curve.

oh dear, mechanic creep is starting again. as a space marine player, where all i have to remember is, who is my oath target is, i feel thats enough
As long as it's balanced that's fine. As an Eldar player I love the complexity and nuance, gives me he opportunity to screw up and learn xD
Don't Space Marines have access to every mechanic the game offers and likely from multiple datasheets/detachment rules?
oath of moment is so boring

Yeah, they require a hyper specialist to pilot effectively. Very high skill floor, even higher skill ceiling
Nothing in AoS is better, it was made for copyright reasons. 🤮
Naw man. The models are way better than 40k
