    I played in 3s to 7s and the 3/4/5 were the most comfortable shoe for a running game of the era. the "fake leather" was part of the marketing. these are made of synthetic materials used in the sport car market to get lighter seats. Here they achieved lighter shoes with close to the look and durability of "real leather" shoes like the Converse Weapon and other Nikes. These shoes were lighter by FARRR compared to Kangaroos, AVIA and LA Gear and Adidas of the era and we much less fatiguing. after long practices these shoes simply left your legs feeling fresher.
    By time the 6/7/8s came around, Jordan changed up his game again and had much more of a post-up style game. That era shoe was stiffer, made on a narrower last and fit your feet a lot closer. Same for the Foamposites (although Foams were a little softer on the soling than Jays)
    But we knew it wasn't leather.
    And we knew they were not built to "last long". The rubber on the sole was supposed to be more "sticky" for indoor court traction and grip and less wear on outdoor courts. These shoes were purpose-built for wooden indoor court play, whereas the typical other shoe was more of a outdoor shoe, made to last. I can tell you that when i played my first indoor game in these...the GRIP was intense! That first couple steps acceleration was like nothing else at the time. I also wore Pumas, Shell-Top Adis, Ewings, Weapons, Blazers, Flights, AFs...nothing had that chewing gum grip like 3/4/5s Jays!

    Love the 3's. I think it was the "new" Jumpman logo on the tongue that sold MJ and Nike's future commitment to him and his insight & influence on design. From there, his stats and accolades through the '88 season was a huge spotlight on the shoes and the line took off to new heights.

      Well uuuh , the comfiest from 1 to 8 , from my point of view is the 7 , cuz the midsole, after a small break in time is just so fluff , , than probably the 1's, i cant talk about the 2's and the 4's , but all the models from the 3 to the 6 should pretty much feel the same , and the 8 is even more of a brick ( for reference, i have 1's, 5's, 6's , 7's and 8's )

    • @alexandruciocirlau2428
      @alexandruciocirlau2428 Рік тому +3

      The point is , the polyurethane midsoles of the Retro jordans , are quite hard compared to squishy foam from other sneakers. Back in the day , when they first released, they were way more fluffy , from what i read and heard , and thats why they crumbled so fast. They are made with the same material , just a bit more dense , and so they will still crumble , just slower

      Calm down. It's your Gen that has played out Jordan's for the real.collectors and enthusiasts of the 90s and 2000s just to fit in. If you knew anything you'd know bc of the Neverending need of GenZ/borderline millenial to fit in, nikes quality has gone down 10x since the retros of the early 2000s. Kids that never even watched Jordan play a game that use the term "cap" and "bruh" committing this level of fuckery. And now you're making suggestions for more Jordan's as though they are still the wave?? Lol... you are 12 years late to the party, son.

    I have the 2011 Version of these black elephant, and the leather quality is still awesome. Only the plastic on the back is slowly cracking after the years. But overall impressed. i love them 😊

    When you look at the original sketches/concepts of the AJ3, they look extremely similar to the air max 1 (1987), it's a classic Tinker Hatfield shape

    I would love to see the tech behind the Jordan 12, it was the first time with full length zoom but I'd like to see you go in order. show the subtle tech changes and visual design esthetics that were transitioned over from model to model.

    I think the jordan 6-17-23s are slept on… I have a pair, and they are really comfortable. They have zoom and and air units. They feel like flight jets on your feet.

    Hi Wes love your channel! FYI I am in Québec Canada and yes you have at least one French Canadian subscribed..
    I would a have a suggestion for a new series. What about motorcycle boots? Are they better than normal boots? Myth, reality, marketing....who knows...guess we could find out!

    Remember, the original 3's had a much softer foam in the midsole than these retro's of them. They also used different leathers and synthetics, the retro's LOOK almost exactly the same, but as a guy who wore all the originals I can tell you the original 3's were A LOT more comfortable than these retro's. I still have my 1994 retro pair, those were the closest to the original after 1994 all retro's started being made more for longevity with stiffer harder rubbers and foam for a "lifestyle" type shoe vs. a real basketball shoe. Just wanted to point that out, I still love the retro's being able to wear shoes that look like the originals.

      8:42 Open Cell Polyurethane Is Softer & Crumbles Faster ~ Closed Cell Polyurethane Is On Most Retros & Won't Crumble As Fast & Last A Bit Longer But Is Stiff With Less Cushioning & Bounce

    • @davidca96
      @davidca96 6 місяців тому +1

      @@Chaddron Yea the originals had open cell and were true court shoes, the closed cell retros are just casual shoes made to look like them but dont feel even remotely the same. I do hear as you said they last a lot longer, dont crumble as fast, but I wish you could still get the original soles.

    I haven’t seen this info posted or spoken of yet- but so you know, original jordan 1-12, so until 1997, were all board lasted. The 98 jordan 13’s started strobel stitching, and some retros after have been board lasted (“85” 1’s), some with a hybrid of strobel stitch but a lasted toe. Hopefully you can see this!

    4s and 5s are my favorites from my childhood. Got several retros. Love the 11s too. I've got pairs from 1s all the way up to 11s. Past the 12s and 13s I'm not interested much.
