I played in 3s to 7s and the 3/4/5 were the most comfortable shoe for a running game of the era. the "fake leather" was part of the marketing. these are made of synthetic materials used in the sport car market to get lighter seats. Here they achieved lighter shoes with close to the look and durability of "real leather" shoes like the Converse Weapon and other Nikes. These shoes were lighter by FARRR compared to Kangaroos, AVIA and LA Gear and Adidas of the era and we much less fatiguing. after long practices these shoes simply left your legs feeling fresher. By time the 6/7/8s came around, Jordan changed up his game again and had much more of a post-up style game. That era shoe was stiffer, made on a narrower last and fit your feet a lot closer. The og 3s from 1988 are all leather including the tongue as well, and the insole was also different that you can add arch supports at that time. Surprisingly they did not use fiberboard and actually use the textile stitching on the originals as well.
@@xrizbira you should watch videos of people who have them and you'll see the difference easily. Less PU coating on leather, higher quality, better packaging, it was meant to be used in sports.
@@thomascalderon598 until they tested it, we still can't assume. Given that Nike was not doing well back then, I don't think they will spend more money for the sneakers

Well uuuh , the comfiest from 1 to 8 , from my point of view is the 7 , cuz the midsole, after a small break in time is just so fluff , , than probably the 1's, i cant talk about the 2's and the 4's , but all the models from the 3 to the 6 should pretty much feel the same , and the 8 is even more of a brick ( for reference, i have 1's, 5's, 6's , 7's and 8's )
The point is , the polyurethane midsoles of the Retro jordans , are quite hard compared to squishy foam from other sneakers. Back in the day , when they first released, they were way more fluffy , from what i read and heard , and thats why they crumbled so fast. They are made with the same material , just a bit more dense , and so they will still crumble , just slower

I’ve only owned one pair of 3’s, so I cannot say it’s the same for all versions and the materials they use, but from my perspective much of the comfort lies in the width of the shoe and how it sits on the foot so to speak, especially since I have slightly wider and flat feet. Great video as usual! 👍🏻
I was all about the jumpman logo, the new air Jordan sign. I remember drawing it all over my school books, all the kids were doing ' air walk layups, trying do do the " Air Jordan"
Remember, the original 3's had a much softer foam in the midsole than these retro's of them. They also used different leathers and synthetics, the retro's LOOK almost exactly the same, but as a guy who wore all the originals I can tell you the original 3's were A LOT more comfortable than these retro's. I still have my 1994 retro pair, those were the closest to the original after 1994 all retro's started being made more for longevity with stiffer harder rubbers and foam for a "lifestyle" type shoe vs. a real basketball shoe. Just wanted to point that out, I still love the retro's being able to wear shoes that look like the originals.
@LAMAR-HOP7777 Yea the originals had open cell and were true court shoes, the closed cell retros are just casual shoes made to look like them but dont feel even remotely the same. I do hear as you said they last a lot longer, dont crumble as fast, but I wish you could still get the original soles.

You know, this video talked me into getting the Jordan 3 desert elephant release this weekend. I'm really excited to get a pair of my first Jordan's!! It's strange that I'm getting these, because my favorite Jordan's are the 4s, 11s, 13s, and 14s
I think the jordan 6-17-23s are slept on… I have a pair, and they are really comfortable. They have zoom and and air units. They feel like flight jets on your feet.
Love that you're doing these videos on Jordans. His line of shoes literally changed sneaker enthusiasts and the culture to what it is today. Back in the 80s, shoes were ok and had decent quality but they all looked pretty much the same. They were just so bland and sort of boring. What changed everything is when Michael came in and brought so much excitement and did things we'd never seen before. On top of that Tinker did the exact same thing with Michael's shoes. Everyone and I mean everyone wanted to be like Mike. You know what comes after that, everyone wants to look like him. Most basketball shoes were around 50 to 60 bucks in the 80s. The Jordan 3 debut was 90 dollars. Been a subscriber for a couple years now and it's great to see the success of your channel.
Request to do a shoe breakdown of the recently released Desert Elephant Jordan 3. This release is not nearly appreciated as the black cement colorway reviewed in this video, but many have touted its superior leather materials. I'm curious to know whether the quality of the leather is really better.
Another feature over the Jordan 2 are the lace holes near the forest foot. They allow more variation for lace adjustment. His was also expanded in the Jordan 4s.
I lost a pair of those exact AJ 3's recently because a bag of DampRid accidentally leaked on one of my 3's causing it to harden the leather, deforming the collar lining, and bending the right pair up. I was devastated with the transformation of my kick. I tried to get them fixed and place I took it to failed miserably. I hope Jordan brand restocks these soon.
Honestly. I buy the retro stuff because I couldn't get them as a kid. It's almost pure nostalgia for me. I used to collect when I was in high school and got a job but that faded when I got my first car. Now I just buy the ones I really liked. When I wear them. It's like a time machine.
This video was awesome! The Jordan 3 is one of my favorite silhouettes. I would love to see u guys do the Jordan 11 which was a game changer. Or the Jordan 8 or 9 which both are polarizing. But what ever u guys do, much love and keep doing it!
4s and 5s are my favorites from my childhood. Got several retros. Love the 11s too. I've got pairs from 1s all the way up to 11s. Past the 12s and 13s I'm not interested much.
Great video. For the crumbling midsole. That usually happens after 10-15 years, usually shorter for shoes that aren't worn. My 2012 black cement 3s are still going strong since I wore the tread off those.
i actually have this pair. Really interesting to see the inner workings of it. You should do Jordan 4's next. Wouldn't mind seeing you do the rest of the Air Jordan line
I haven’t seen this info posted or spoken of yet- but so you know, original jordan 1-12, so until 1997, were all board lasted. The 98 jordan 13’s started strobel stitching, and some retros after have been board lasted (“85” 1’s), some with a hybrid of strobel stitch but a lasted toe. Hopefully you can see this!
This is my favorite shoe. This channel is my guide to buying sneakers. It’s so interesting to learn about what is in a sneaker and if the original tech is still being used or if it’s just similar in appearance to move a lifestyle shoe. I’d like to see a video that breaks down the manufacturers and quality in their retro lines. Could you even play basketball in these or not?
Great channel. First pair of Jordans I bought in 88 , again in 94 , been a fan ever since, probably my favorite , they need to just pump these out, the prices are stupid
For the record, the picture shown under the January 1988 are NOT the 1988 Jordan's, those are the retros that had more of a black elephant print that went away from the original design. The most recent Fire Red 3 released this year, is the truest/closest we've ever got to the original Jordan 3 Fire Red retro from 1988.
Love this series! I would love to see originals of these models cut in half. I believe that the current retros aren’t made with the same quality the originals were. I would keep that in mind with these reviews.
The more recent iterations of the 3s, which are as close to the 1988 original as possible, have been really comfortable for me. I've never tried the 4s or 5s yet but many say the 4s are hella uncomfortable.
I have the 2011 Version of these black elephant, and the leather quality is still awesome. Only the plastic on the back is slowly cracking after the years. But overall impressed. i love them 😊
I had the originals (white with infrared) back in junior high and it was the best, most comfortable sneaker I have ever owned. So well made. I also currently have a pair of the 2018 release (Black, cement, infrared) and the two are not comparable. The 2018 is a novelty and really I would consider junk and a waster of money/regret. I also had the original "6" anc currently have a recent release of the "6" and I give the exact same assessment. I will add.. the original 6 though not QUITE as comfortable as the original "3".. the original 6 was VERY durable. I paid $169.99 CAD + sales tax for those and had to work to earn money to buy them as per agreement with mom at the time lol
@@nick5422 Yeah I didn't realize they referred to the Reds using two different terms. I replied to Yamagucci yesterday with a link but that reply got removed.. perhaps because it had a link in it, where Nike did refer to it as Fire Red.
Hello! Can you please do a cut of Jim Green's Stockman boots? I want to know how they compare to the Redback slip ons that you enjoy so much. I've been interested in a slip on but I'd prefer a stitch down construction, so I've been very interested in these.
One important thing to tomention is that Jordan's orginally cost overy 100 dollars, somewhere aroudn $125 for the late 80s that was an unheard of price for any other basketball shoe. But the jordan 2s weren't really destinct enough to get recognized as for being that valualbe, but with the jordan 3s being so unique people would instantly recognize them and know that they were really expensive so they became a bit of status symbol. Before that no one really seemed to know or care what kind of basketball shoes other people liked, you'd just choose somehthing comfortable where you like the color but Jordan 3 became really coveted by both adults and teens.
The best sneaker of all time imo. Changed the sneaker game. I will always need to have a 3 in my life. Just simply one of the best shoes, in terms of durability, style, and innovation. Glad to see this shoe on the chopping block!
Can you test and compare an “authentic” pair vs a replica pair of Jordans to see what’s the real difference? I think a lot of sneaker heads would like to see the difference.
@@justarandomguy9259 Yeah the leather from the 80s was top notch. A kids could wear the same sneakers every day and they would last the whole year. Some of these retros start falling apart after a couple of months of daily wear.

I wonder if the original materials in 89 were better since the retros are now considered a “casual” shoe and not a basketball shoe…
I’ve been waiting for this great as usual🔥🔥
Great series man! Looking forward to the next one. Would love to see the 4s through the 13s at some point!
I learn so much from your videos. And it is fun to watch, thanks!
Please do Jordan 4s ❤
I love the 4s and 5s, but 3s have my heart for sure, it was the model I was able to afford with my own money without having to save, what a life!
The most recent Fire Red 3 released this year, is the truest/closest we've ever got to the original Jordan 3 Fire Red retro from 1988.
this is my new favorite channel
wore my black cement 3s today. def one of my top 5 fav sneakers ever, maybe top 3
Jordan 2 is underrated to me extremely comfortable shoe. I hooped in and outside it was dope to me again.
Love this series! I would love to see originals of these models cut in half. I believe that the current retros aren’t made with the same quality the originals were. I would keep that in mind with these reviews.
BC 3 one of my faves for sure. Nice one for the vid!
yess finally! Now a pair of 4's please!!
The more recent iterations of the 3s, which are as close to the 1988 original as possible, have been really comfortable for me. I've never tried the 4s or 5s yet but many say the 4s are hella uncomfortable.
You been doing straight bangers lately. Gotta give credit where it's due. 👏🏾
Very interesting to watch with all the backside information - love it! The 3's are my fav. all time
Great channel, really opens your eyes to how footwear is really made!
the sponsor? 😳😳😳
-edit, JUMPING MAN??? 😳😳😳
The 3s are so legendary. The 2s are slick though and underrated.
Great videos! Air Jordan 4 White Cement 2016 next please!
I have the 2011 Version of these black elephant, and the leather quality is still awesome. Only the plastic on the back is slowly cracking after the years. But overall impressed. i love them 😊
Hello can you do a video of the flight lite 2 Olympic? If you do, can you make an horizontal cut and not a vertical. Thanks 🙏
Good stuff rose anvil, keep the uploads coming lol
Bud. I 6 year old daughter wanted to watch this and I snatched it out of her hands SO FAST when I heard “Adam and eve”
Watching him cut 1 of grails is painful but informative
Top 3 Jordans no doubt. I’ve had 6 pairs of these and loved them
Love your videos! You guys doing footwear reviews should put them on so we can see how they look on foot with pants, shorts ect.
I paid $169.99 CAD + sales tax for those and had to work to earn money to buy them as per agreement with mom at the time lol
original 3s were never infrared. That color was introduced on the Jordan 6
@@filipiino96793 he means fire red I assume since he called the red on the black cements infrared. No biggie
@@nick5422 Yeah I didn't realize they referred to the Reds using two different terms. I replied to Yamagucci yesterday with a link but that reply got removed.. perhaps because it had a link in it, where Nike did refer to it as Fire Red.
YES, Durameter...20...vs 36.....i wonder how much variation there is in midsoles...ive never seen anyone have this Info. YOU'RE AWESOME
Great channel keep it up! Love it
Hello! Can you please do a cut of Jim Green's Stockman boots? I want to know how they compare to the Redback slip ons that you enjoy so much. I've been interested in a slip on but I'd prefer a stitch down construction, so I've been very interested in these.
Anyone else love the sounds of him cutting the shoe in half?
You should do the fire red 3z dat recently came out to see how the material on em are better 🤙🏽
Hey you've done dunks and the new balance 550's.. I think it's only right you test the adidas forum 84 low
Hope you cut a 1985 Jordan 1 in half soon because it has the best leather of any Nike product
@@durawya i think he means one from 40 years ago
@@justarandomguy9259 that would be really cool
yea, it would be really intresting to see the differences between the OG 1's and the High 85 1's
@@durawya it is what i mean thats why I said 1985
@@justarandomguy9259 Yeah the leather from the 80s was top notch. A kids could wear the same sneakers every day and they would last the whole year. Some of these retros start falling apart after a couple of months of daily wear.
I just think the Jordan three is such a good looking shoe! The elephant print the colorways, the air pockets showing !
these vids are jus awesome man..
Love this content. Awesome to see what’s inside shoes, and convenient for not having to cut my own shoes🤣. Thanks and keep it up! Peace ✌🏽
Also Nike Advertising dept. Went All in on this Model with Adition of Spike Lee appearing as MJ's Hype Man and Spokesperson which at that time had NEVER BEEN DONE BEDORE. With the Addition to the Chicago Bulls NEW Coaching Hire to ALLOW MJ to be the ENTIRE TEAM which he GRABBED EVERY THROPHY THAT YEAR KNOWN TO MAN IN THIS SHOE!!! Dont Forget about the "Elephant Print" related to Black Culture!💡 just a couple of tips left out. Keep up the GREAT WORK!
Air unit has something to do with it sure but essentially it's the aesthetic of the Jordan 3 that captured the peoples appreciation. Elephant print, tumbled leather and styling is completely different, a classic. The white version really gets me going.
Would love to see another summer shoe comparison of Hey dudes, Reef shoes, and Day five shoes, specifically the classic canvas upper slip-on shoes
