About safety, and the statement about "it wasn't supposed to be safe"; Parachuting is not supposed to be safe either but the parachute itself is supposed to be sturdy and not fail and be built to standards to do the jobs it's designed to do ! With confidence that the parachute fabric will not tear up because it could not support your weight, or confidence that the cords will not snap etc... And if it fails to open or gets entangled you have a spare one. To make the excuse that parachuting is not supposed to be safe to excuse the use of an "experimental" poorly made, unproven, and uncertified parachute is not OK ! It's like saying that driving a car is not supposed to be safe ! Well our cars are supposed to have good brakes, good tires, etc... if you choose to drive a car with no brakes don't tell us driving is not supposed to be safe !
The entire point of all the engineering is to make an inherently unsafe but desired activity somewhat safe. To say 'it's not safe' and leave it at that is to basically admit abject failure. And abject failure is a good word to describe that imbecile. It's nearly a shame he wasn't on board when it failed.
These hearing are fascinating, better than scripted or reality tv. I’m glad we get to see them at length like this. You could write a book on the delusions of these so-called “mission specialists.”
Its very evident that Stockton carefully chose his dumbasses to pay to go in this vessel and be happy about it... I cant believe anyone would still agree to enter the titan inspite of having issues previously
I think it was impressed on them that if it imploded, they would never know. So they weren't scared of getting hurt or dying. But what if something happened with no air, or fire ? 😁🌏☮️
His criticism of the coastguard is ridiculous. I know he’s a millionaire that does t care about money or apparently his life, but “scrambling resources” is very costly for a sub that shouldn’t have even been out there.
It just gets more ridiculous the more you hear, they were experimenting with only using 4 of the 18 bolts to make it quicker to get people out after a dive!? Unbelievable
I love how he initially said the pilot was Stockton, and was unflappable. But then corrected to PH being the pilot. As all previous testimony definitely didn't make Stockton sound unflappable 😅
He comes across as arrogant, the smartest guy in every room he enters...and a condescending a-hole to anyone including those female Coast Guard officers questioning him.
Trampling through a graveyard with 1500 souls and saying that it is not a big thing is enfuriating and should have significant coseqeuences for Hagen and the pilot. These "mission specialists" are unbearingly naive so far. I will follow this hearing through to see if there is an exeption to the rule.
That's hard to watch the "the letter wasn't sent" part about the MTS letter, when under that paragraph it said "a draft was sent" Real scream at the screen moment.
Thinking you are going to die is NOT EVER "fun". It is traumatizing. People dont go skydiving etc cos they really think they will die. They go because they feel that they WON'T die, so they can just enjoy the adrenaline rush of the falling etc, without all the traumatic mental & physical distraction of being about to die. If people went thinking they would die, there would be way more people jumping off buildings & bridges with umbrellas & capes. 🌏☮️
"Well yeah we kinda got stuck in part of the Titanic", nevermind it's a historical site and graveyard that should be protected from human destruction "but hey no biggie"🤦♀️
This first guy is as tone deaf as it gets. Learn to read the room. Risking OTHER peoples lives AND money ( are you paying it back ? ) cos you & your mate purposely didnt take the precautions to keep the vessel safe for purpose & seaworthy.
This guys a moron. Did he read anything? Did he ask any questions about the 500 things that where going wrong or did he just throw his money at ole Rush and say take me under!?

Yup, he was arrogant, and his parachuting argument was weak.
That thing was a death trap.

Exactly what I thought.
He didn't even have his facts right and at the end, he couldn't resist several more digs at Canada. I smell racist
Such an arrogant out of touch person
Not even sure if they notified the us coast guard for that trip. That sounds like it stopped after David Lockwood left.
"A bang as loud as an explosion" Terrifying. My guess - carbon fiber strand(s) snapping. This literally sounds like a gun going off next to your ear!
We need more regulations because of people like the clown that testified first…
What an asshat, he could have blown the whistle. Truly insane.

I was about to say a joke but it would not be appropriate....
@@michelalphonso6945 we still wanna hear it😁👍🙏
The bald guy seems pretty laid back about getting the Titan snagged in the shipwreck as if it was routine procedure. Weird stuff.
I love how he initially said the pilot was Stockton, and was unflappable. But then corrected to PH being the pilot.

I applaud this young engineer at the end of the session for being put into a situation and being bold enough to speak up.
I have a lot of experience with construction so I could do things like tighten bolts lol
"It wasn't supposed to be safe..." What the hell. What a stupid thing to say.
Weird guy

Watched on legal vices an admirably lawyers channel. Fascinating but my goodness what a mess!!!!
Someone wanna address that squeaky damn door?

"It wasn't supposed to be safe" WTAF. McHale's Navy!

I would not have gotten in the bath tub in this thing. From start to finnish short cuts and money. Can you say Hubris?
Very interesting (the Tritan part)

4:02:17 when you accidently taped over your favourite show in the 90s 😂👍🇮🇪
