Well if it was up to Doug unfortunately, I don't think most of us would have heard his songs, he was a depressed brooding drunk that nearly ruined it for the Gin Blossoms by barely ever showing up to recording sessions and when he did he was smashed. I am sorry but I am not angry at Robin and the guys for doing the only thing that turned out would make them big.
Oh and unless you were paying attention 3 of the 5 songs on this set list were NOT written by Doug Hopkins: Follow you down, Allison Road and Till I hear it from you @@McNair-eo8ee
Robin Wilson is so heartwarming. I wore out multiple copies of New Miserable Experience. Humble brag: I saw the Gin Blossons open open for a band in a little club and I stood down front and danced to all their songs, even though I'm shy. At the end, Robin leaned down and said, "Thank YOU for listening to us." A full year later they had a hit record. Thry deserved more
I was fortunate to see them in concert in Honolulu in October 2013. I won tickets through 105.9 KPOI (now known as ALT 105.9). It was a great show and this band will always hold a place in my heart as their music is terrific and these songs really, to me, define the '90s.
saw them 20 years ago at a mall concert. most people didn't know who they were until they started playing the amazing amount of hits they had. he stopped the show to joke and say "yes we are that band from the radio" they still sound good.
This band will always have a special place in my heart.I remember a long hot summer listening to that first record and thinking "Thank god for this music.." Rock on brothers...
Ian Cohen Next time ya see him, tell him Genevieve, the kid from the Syracuse show (search Gin Blossoms syracuse to see her on stage with the band) says hi...
Way back 2001 my older sister introduce GB to me by playing the album repeatedly and guess what up until now I'm still playing their songs..love this band❤️
Just saw them yesterday 4/30/16 in Fernandina FL at the 8 Flags Shrimp Festival. DAMN they were awesome. I love 90's music and this just brings back such good memories.
Just saw them at Gramercy theatre, NYC on the 7th of August, 2018, for their record release show, and oh my God, best show I have ever been to!!!!! Seriously, Never saw them live before, and have loved them since they came out and I was a lil kid. It was surreal. They just are still so amazing. Thanks for a night I'll never forget Gin Blossoms !!! and for all the songs you've made !!!!!
Great vantage point, brought out the whole band, their stage presence, excellent sound quality. Love how Waterfest allows the audience to be on the stages edge, allowing Robin to literally touch hands with them.
Still playing in 2014 wow. They should go to some of those festivals (such as Firefly in Delaware or Governors Ball in NYC) since we have a definite shortage of "high-seniority" acts and have too few mid-aged or older show-goers.
Incredible video! Thanks for uploading. I usually try to catch them but I think it was calling for rain and I come from a distance, so I didn't even up going. But this is so clear and great sound quality! Love it, I hope they come back again soon, didn't see them on the list this past year (been looking). Seen them there three times.
Winfield Wilson They all know a gin blossoms song....they just don't know it! I get that s**t all the time, and then they are like Oh yeah I like these guys....
+Kristopher Carson they rock hard even with a folky tone. Such nostalgia and great music although they haven't become as much a household name as other rock bands.
I love this band, I really do. But, I was on their site and was disappointed that when I clicked on the about section, and they went through the career of the band. They had no mention of Doug. I realize the demons he fought, and ultimately lost too, but it is truly terrible not to acknowledge the person who penned the songs that led to their success. Doug was a very gifted songwriter and guitar player. This is much like the members of Warrant not performing at Jani Lane's Memorial Show. And the guy wrote everything that made those guys famous, and a household name.
He got them started on one side and he nearly destroyed them on the other...if they had not booted him we would know nothing of his work...they saved both his artistic and drunken legacy
Perhaps it's their management that decided to let Doug's case rest...its not gonna be a good impression on a band coming back from the dead to bring out issues abt their past,...some would prefer to silence em...keep phase goin ya know.. Still impressive though... Gives nostalgia to anyone like me who loves them
@@davidwright8371 I don't think it was as a shot at Doug. Robin said it was because that was the reaction fans usually gave them since Doug died just as NME was rising up the charts. It was to say congrats on the success but sorry to hear about Doug. I always felt the title represented their inner turmoil at that time. Elated that you finally 'made it' in the music business but having a hole because one of the guys that helped get you there was no longer around. Sort of like they could never fully enjoy the success of NME because it's visionary was Doug and he wasn't there. Just my $0.02 though.
New Miserable Experience was probably the most important record next to Jeff Buckleys' Grace during the summer of '94.Too bad Doug Hopkins didn't get to enjoy the ride.
Pretty sure she's autistic. See how she plays with her hands during Hey Jealousy and never Ever looks at the band even once? Pretty sure. My niece is like that.
@Noble Failures True, but many older rockers who manage to hang on get to receive the adulation of fans and appreciation of their music decades after their peak, and seeing the continued joy your life's work has created must feel pretty fantastic. I still listen to Gin Blossoms today. Doug's music has aged so much better than his contemporaries. I never want to hear Nirvana or Pearl Jam again, but New Miserable Experience still resonates with me.
they think about doug every time they play. Just don't talk about it much or probably enjoy to. It just got out of control I guess. They give him his due, at least now.
+Jeffrey K guitarist. He was a mean drunk so they janked his royalties and fired him. Wrote the songs that made them famous in the first place, "Hey Jealousy", "Lost Horizons", "Found Out About You".
Jeffrey, they didn't 'jank' his royalties. He got his royalties, but apparently Doug told people he didn't, and some people still believe that. If they hadn't fired him, you'd never have heard of them, because his drinking and fucking-up nearly lost them their record contract. They were given the choice of fire him, or forget recording and go home.
What's left to say about Robin Wilson's voice, except that it's God's gift to alternative rock. Never tire of listening to this guy sing.
Very nice gentleman too. Met him twice, very down to earth to his fans. Gin Blossoms are one of my all time favorites
Still awesome after all these years. I just realized, he sounds like Glen Phillips of TTWS. Another gem from the 90s.
That white boy has a lot of soul, with a little Elvis Costello-type snarkiness thrown in.
Too bad that great music like this ends up with a moniker like alternative. This is real music not the angry or hate a lot of rock is.
Yes the kids in Tahoe Enjoy Hi Timeless Musaic
I don’t think Robin Wilson will ever know how meaningful his songs have been to me. Literally changed my life when I was in my early 20’s.
You mean Doug Hopkins’ songs?
Well if it was up to Doug unfortunately, I don't think most of us would have heard his songs, he was a depressed brooding drunk that nearly ruined it for the Gin Blossoms by barely ever showing up to recording sessions and when he did he was smashed. Great band, New Miserable Experience will always have a special place in my life.
Same for me. One of the best albums I have. Not a bad song on there.
Robin Wilson is so heartwarming. I wore out multiple copies of New Miserable Experience. Love this band - makes me so nostalgic for the 90's.
Robin Wilson is such a cool, sincere and mellow dude/frontman, and his voice sounds as good as ever.

+Jason Bacon dude, thats great! you know, when He visited in Philinppines, we have a pic together , and we hug each other!
saw them 20 years ago at a mall concert. most people didn't know who they were until they started playing the amazing amount of hits they had. he stopped the show to joke and say "yes we are that band from the radio" they still sound good.
Thanks Judy Zuhlke Uptegraff for being a fan of Gin Blossoms. & turning me unto this good music.
This band will always have a special place in my heart.I remember a long hot summer listening to that first record and thinking "Thank god for this music.." Rock on brothers...
He lives right by me now.
Ian Cohen Next time ya see him, tell him Genevieve, the kid from the Syracuse show (search Gin Blossoms syracuse to see her on stage with the band) says hi...
New Miserable Experience helped me through a bad patch in my life, and I will always love these guys for that.
check out the newer albums like Major Lodge Victory, No Chocolate Cake and Congratulations Im sorry.

I expected this to be lackluster but it was pretty damn good. That first album is such a classic. Great songs.
Best upload of the gin blossoms on UA-cam FACT !!, I love this band .. I would love them to come to Liverpool ..
Not a bad upload, but I've seen better.
The Gin Blossoms from my hometown, Tempe AZ, home of the ASU SUN DEVILS!!
Still better in 2019 than all the other shit on the radio these days.
AMEN
Great vantage point, brought out the whole band, their stage presence, excellent sound quality. Love how Waterfest allows the audience to be on the stages edge, allowing Robin to literally touch hands with them.
Thank you! Great post 👍👍👍👍
hindi talaga nakakasawa ung ginblossoms
when i was a kid i used to listen to them........probably till now when i remember them like right now...
His voice has become better. That's impressive.
Thanks for this, was there, knew the boys from Long Wongs and this was the last live concert I saw in my life. I hope you're well PDF.
I Love this band from Philippines ❤️
God I love this band
Thanks for the Show! Rained out in Cromwell at the Travelers Championship on 8/6/16.

Wow.. What a great band!!
Love this. Thanks, Gin Blossoms!!
every body says they aint shit with out doug but u can always replace a guitarist the voice is what cant be replicated
Robin deserves a lot of respect. He kills it.
Yep. Vocals make this band! Love them since the 90s.
dont get me wrong doug was bad ass
I believe Robin tours now with the band the Smithereens from time to time now to replace their lead vocalist who passed away.
better than ever!
thx for the upload!

Pure gold!!! Cheers!!!

Great to see that tele out there
I was so glad they played Hey Jealousy. Also Robin looks great!
one of my favorite band
I'm 59 yo, and I love the gin blossoms. I tell my younger co-workers this, and most of them are like, "Who?" I'm like, Seriously, dude?
Winfield Wilson They all know a gin blossoms song....they just don't know it! I get that s**t all the time, and then they are like Oh yeah I like these guys....
+Kristopher Carson they rock hard even with a folky tone. Such nostalgia and great music although they haven't become as much a household name as other rock bands.
amen brother lol
Good band and definitely reminds me of being a kid. That said, these 5 songs are all you really need to have them play.
Miz the 90's ( 1994-1998)...
Great Memories.....!
I love this band, I really do. But, I was on their site and was disappointed that when I clicked on the about section, and they went through the career of the band. They had no mention of Doug.

they would have been nothing without Doug.

Just the fact they calked thier second album congratulations im sorry as a shot at doug a year after he died shows what dickheads they are
Fuck them

Great band , fantastic songs - just hoping they play in the uk someday , Oh Well!!!.

what a nice voice by ginblossoms
So good.
ROBIN has an incredible voice but i like when raicing arms and part of his body,Gin Blossmos is the BEST!!
Great American Rock Band !!!!!!!!!
Epic. Robin makes a "They Live" movie reference.
New Miserable Experience was probably the most important record next to Jeff Buckleys' Grace during the summer of '94.Too bad Doug Hopkins didn't get to enjoy the ride.
Too bad those scumbags fucked him over
Doug Hopkins, RIP.
Someone's dad dragged her to this concert!
the best!!
Orsm band and totally good guys ... loved em for years :-)
FRIGG'IN RAW!!!!!!!!!!
Looks like the kid with scarf on is enjoying the show.
I think she had know idea what the heck is going on. lol!
Pretty sure she's autistic. See how she plays with her hands during Hey Jealousy and never Ever looks at the band even once? Pretty sure. My niece is like that.
she's an affirmative action bouncer hire
I know!! That "too cool for school" attitude is just disrespectful...
U R....dare ya, tough guy moron!
For my money, "Lost Horizons" was their best song, from Doug Hopkins - of course - and I wish it was done here.
Psych brought me here.
Allison Road, ROCKS!
Classic 90s.
damn he's still so fine and so good!! nostalgic!
they should make a Gin blossoms / Nine days concert.
Bill and I have about the same amount of hair left......hahaha
The They Live line was fucking hilarious🤣🤟🤟🤟
Band active for 25 years, sounds great as ever. And that's one funny frontman. Kicking ass and chewing bubble gum
Roddy Piper reference, love it! This was before he died, too. Must've been a fan, makes me like him even more.
Yeah the frontman said they were there to "kick ass and chew bubblegum"
Essa banda é do caralho!!!
God bless Doug Hopkins, rest his soul.

@Noble Failures Being a teacher is great, but I can tell Robin still looooves being onstage, and is a humble guy
@Noble Failures Fellow homebody! I think I would have enjoyed life on the road in my twenties, but not now
@Noble Failures Thanks! I made it up for a grocery delivery service...but it fits me all the time
3:48, He's referencing the movie "They Live."
He's indirectly telling us something..
Predictive Programming or a warning?
hmmm
they think about doug every time they play. Just don't talk about it much or probably enjoy to. It just got out of control I guess. They give him his due, at least now.
hell ya
When are they going to start touring USA?
It's starting this month and goes throughout early 2019
rowdy roddy piper would be pleased.
cerdos los amo
That girl in the front has no idea who they are
OMG. I hope my husband never thanked people for giving him their underwear. He used to be a singer and performer, and went on the road.
He sniffed it Vicki. I saw him
***** You're a real prize. Is that a picture of your pet you have for an avatar?
All of them have Doug Hopkins blood on them.
the stoner girl recording this
The girl in the front who looks super bored and won't look at the stage lol
Jeez. Time is not kind to rock stars.
This is the shit
That girl in the front row looks soooooo bored.
Ah, modern day Gin Blossoms...continuing to live off Doug's songs and act like he never existed. Pity
+AstroKnott Please forgive my ignorance on the band but was Doug the original front man ?
+Jeffrey K guitarist. He was a mean drunk so they janked his royalties and fired him. Wrote the songs that made them famous in the first place, "Hey Jealousy", "Lost Horizons", "Found Out About You".
Thank you , again forgive my ignorance on the line up
Jeffrey, they didn't 'jank' his royalties. He got his royalties, but apparently Doug told people he didn't, and some people still believe that. If they hadn't fired him, you'd never have heard of them, because his drinking and fucking-up nearly lost them their record contract. They were given the choice of fire him, or forget recording and go home.
Kind of bland, in a mediocre way.
so true
Excelente. Me encanta... marcaron toda una etapa de mi vida, incluso hasta hoy.
