FR3SHtillD3ATH1 - The real question is: DO YOU? Because you obviously don't. VR doesn't transfer your body into the game, magically. It only creates the illusion. If you're making all those moves, not to mention all the rolling, dodging and weaving, I can assure you that you wouldn't last 10 minutes. Wonder why you get motion sickness on cars? Because there's a disagreement between what you see and what you feel. In Layman's term, if you're reading or playing something on your mobile console/phone, your body feels that you're moving but there's no visual cue to accompany the feeling of movement... Same applies to VR. There are people who've tried multiple games (including the original Mirror's Edge) with a VR headset and they just couldn't handle those type of games. Maybe you should do some research on the downsides of VR, because VR has a lot of things that it simply can't do. Fast and twitchy motion without the player physically moving is one of them.
This is a tiny portion of the map which is on rooftops. How much life are you looking for? For what it has, I think it looks fantastic. Simple gameplay? Did you even play the first game?
It would be great if they reacted faster and we can remove the health bars in top of their heads. If they can do that it might be good. Right now the combat looks like it will break the immersion.
A few things to note-- combat was never the focus of this game series so im not too disappointed in how it looks at the moment. Movement seems kind of off just because i seems a bit too linear in terms of design. Also, sweet background to the right at 3:00 . hopeful to see the final result.
I'm pretty sure this one is just to showcase the fighting mechanics but I heard this one would be a bit more focused on fights and fighting yet keeping your momentum.
game looks amazing the style still looks very mirrors edge as I was worried they would get it wrong tbh lol the fighting looks massively improved! can't wait for this game
+Raven Corb I agree, I really don't know why people are complaining when it has the same feel and life the first game had only with improved mechanics. Plus if this game does well enough in sales maybe the sequel with feature some multiplayer component to play with friends. It's almost as if people want to complain about they're little stuff but be so quick to hype up the *8th or 9th* Halo game. This game was clearly made for the fans of the original.
It's good finally to see a gameplay of brand new Mirror's Edge. I bought it still in the pre-order as fast as I could, but to be honest, I was hoping more from graphics... (so far I've been watching from this gameplay, of course, so that I didn't play any beta yet)
+Marcelo Godoy (MGodoy) It saddens me knowing that the generations to come will grow up in a world where the only defining factor in a game is graphics. I pity you and those like you.
Watching everyone try to figure out the combat is painful. The devs said it before. it's momentum based. But everyone just wants to run up and spam the attack button. How about a sliding kick? Then shift around and follow with a wallrun kick if they're near a wall? It's honestly not as bad as the people playing this make it out to be
Hm, dedicated health bars for foes? Not sure how I feel about that yet. Also it looks like there may still be sections where you are FORCED to fight(in this case to show off the new combat mechanics) which I guess is OK but I'm still a lil' bummed by. I wonder if the Pursuit Cops from the first game will be back, as they were pretty nightmare fuel level when they first appeared.
I think it'd be pretty badass if her knuckles started showing damage after a few swings. It would add to the realism and be super awesome to see knuckles a little bloodied after a fight.
Needs more power grunting while hitting and not just power grunting but sexy power grunting, like: Heeyah! Unhuugh! Mmoouugghhhgghh~! (with some quiver), and Ouughuu, oh and don't forget the usual, Hiyah! Either we steal the vocal grunts from 3rd Birthday or we make a mod and cover these grunts from some other source that can get these grunts vocalized in usual fashion. Eitherway, it'd still be a funny mod to add to this.
Combat has greately improved, blending of freerunning movements is also better! Can't wait for the release to explore the city freely ;D How about a possible Pure mode DLC for this game too IGN? :D
i didn't mind the first game and was excited that they were bringing it to current gen, after seeing the amount of screen tearing, AI and combat i think i can safely say i can cross this off my list now, oh well :(
+guilmon981 just checked your channel. You seem pretty cool! If you wanna see anything from me, search "Nirkah Gaming". I only have one vid up, it's a montage of games I've enjoyed these past few months. I'll also be posting ME content either from the beta or full game.
+Nick Kellar It comes out next month. It's practically a demo. I believe the combat will suffer in this game. Other than the movement and just the parkour in general looks great. Combat? Not so much.
+ZakX11 Here's to hoping they have a hard difficulty where standing your ground in group fights isnt viable. It looks pretty sweet to land a kick or punch while in high speed, but standing still while fighting just makes both the player and the enemy look incompetent.
Well, in the first one, if you didn't dodge/iintercept an attack at the right time you would be dead pretty fast. Getting hit by the grip of the gun, shot, etc all resulted in death pretty fast.
Zakmann02 Well they attack you do they not? I don't see what's so awful about them. And I'm tired of people using the word "immersion". It means nothing. You're playing a video game; you're not going to feel like you're actually in this world.
Why is there a mission where I have to stop and fight dudes in my PARKOUR game? The dropping of guns made me think they realized this was a thing people didn't want.
***** Even with the slide and wall kicks the game is forcing you to take out enemies, in Mirror's Edge you could just run past if you could avoid the gunfire.
+Bastjan Sejberg (COHL7500) That's not open world. It's non-linear levels that aren't open to real exploration. "Open World" would suggest that - for the most part - what the player sees, they can go to.
+bigdjman45 it was anything but. The player is too dumb to remember what they learnt in the tutorial. You can use momentum to dispatch the enemies quicker. Just standing there hitting them is slower than using momentum.
Sal Poullard it's just a tutorial and the guy isn't doing it right, watch jackfrags's gameplay video, he actually played it right, be used the walls and running abilities to knock people out and he didn't stand in one place and spammed random moves.
Necromancer To me it just looks decent. The combat has yet to impress me, the normal enemies don't look very competent or challenging. Maybe it's b/c I've never played a mirror's edge game and don't get the hype.
the people in this comment section damn, can't be fun being so negative all the time. Didn't even see 5 minutes of pre-released gameplay and already bashing useless things.
Fighting the AI seems to be way to drawn out. The high health of the enemies really seems to go against the core momentum concept of the game. One or two hits to either the player or the enemy should take them out, hopefully there are all kinds of counter attacks and moves other than a running kick not present in this demo that result in an instant KO.
why does this game focus a lot on combat?? like the heavy kick and the thing which is connected to movements like wallrun to death or leap to death was ENOUGH!! idk why is there even things like dodge when you can just run around the guy or quickly take him out using momentum...
I think the combat looks cool, but it has a lot more potential than what they have done here. I hope you can at least use some form of counter move and not just dodging.
+Domen Kay The player in the video seems to be pretty bad. The combat is supposed to be about speed and momentum, and here we have a guy standing still and hitting the attack button.
The reason the combat looks so bad is because the people playing the game dont know what they are doing and its the intro of the game, so it seems they've made it too easy. There will likely be difficulty options, so that you actually have to fight with momentum and not stand still and press random buttons like every player showcasing combat has been.
I expect cool music and freedom. Until now i just see "do this" and "do that" missions and dumb AI. I hope the game gets more open and that the soundtrak kicks in. Also, i hope you get some upgrade for Faith to break Protector´s helmets, that looked awesome in the e3 demo.
yooo the combat looks like so much fun lol just toying with the guards until you knock them out haha also for the people complaining about stupid AI, do you want the guards to just maul faith? come on you're not locked down like the arkham combat system. you can tackle this however you want. If the AI was faster the game would not be fun when it comes to encounters and the only thing you'd be able to do is run or get a 1 hit KO. This is awesome and I am so ready!!!
+Adam Ant not really I've seen 1920p by 1080p 60FPS gaming on another guy named Cult of Mush and not once I've seen trippyness (I know that this is not a real word but you understand me)
Xoreign Oh okay. Because sometimes closed betas would require players to accept some sort of terms where they couldn't upload footage of the closed beta online
Unfortunately this game will flop hard, but kudos to EA. For green lighting a game that really didn't need a sequel. Mirrors Edge had a small cult following( I liked it, still don't think it needed a sequel) . But fans should be praising EA for listening to them( I hate EA, but give credit were its due) because EA really didn't want to do a follow up to Mirrors Edge.
You are missing the point. This game brings originality to gaming. If you condemn it, especially before playing it, then we will be stuck with the same old formula of games. People need to buy this so that won't happen.
Game looks fun but the AI doesn't look that smart during combat. It takes them forever to realize you moved left or right while dodging. This may be a beta but it comes out in a month and how they made the enemies seems cheap. The parkour looks tons of fun but the enemies are like the stooges.
playing this with a VR would be amazing
No, motion sickness
+Nicronical Studios you'd get used to it
You'd vomit within 5 minutes. This game would never work on VR.
+FR3SHtillD3ATH1 •_•
FR3SHtillD3ATH1 - The real question is: DO YOU? Because you obviously don't. VR doesn't transfer your body into the game, magically. It only creates the illusion. The world looks empty and lacks life, and the gameplay, so simple. I hope I am wrong.
You're probably not bro
This is a tiny portion of the map which is on rooftops. How much life are you looking for? For what it has, I think it looks fantastic. Simple gameplay? Did you even play the first game?
Moi Moimême I have the game and the city is so lively! This video only shows a small portion, plus you're constantly climbing buildings and rooftops
lol AI is stupid
beta
+whaddup_goose Game comes out next month, doubt they'll change much.
+whaddup_goose if I get dollar for every time people say it's a beta then nothing changes I'd probably have 5 dollars by now
+jaymaikeljay Maybe difficulty changes will make them a bit harder. We will see, but it still looks really fun ;)
+jalal ali yeah but that was also a tutorial
I liked that part when he hit that guard and then he collided with his mate xD
physics for a beta game... are awesome
yeah, pretty impressive physics compared to the previous game
no need to turn your lights on at night playing this game
Ign we want a full 2 hours of mirrors edge catalyst live pls ign
Am I the only one who thinks the combat looks quite good?
nope
Yes, you too are the only one!!!
I like it and I'm sure there's many more so keep counting.
I think it would look more smooth once the player gets the hang of it, this guy looked a little nooby
It would be great if they reacted faster and we can remove the health bars in top of their heads. If they can do that it might be good. Right now the combat looks like it will break the immersion.
Is there again a possibilty to take the weapons of the enemys like in the first game?
+felix
no
+DarkSharingan21 sadness
+Chriis IX that's good though
+Chriis IX Is it though? Gunplay looked and felt completely out of place in the original. Definitely prefer fighting by hand.
Haha nope
2:35 and 3:05 were hysterical lol. I'm not even going to waste my time explaining what I've said on other videos smh the IGN community.
What are the graphics settings in the video because at 1:50 shadows are terrible!
1:35 Omg best AI evar.
I was thinking the same thing!
This looks pretty good. Can't wait!
+Liam Sinclair what video did you watch tho?!Would you play it like that?
This looks CRAZY realistic! I can't wait!!!
I can already see the critics tearing this game appart becuase of the combat and the shitty AI. Goddamn it EA.
Because EA, really didn't want to do a sequel. Fan boys cried out. 😩😢
A few things to note-- combat was never the focus of this game series so im not too disappointed in how it looks at the moment. Movement seems kind of off just because i seems a bit too linear in terms of design. Also, sweet background to the right at 3:00 . hopeful to see the final result.

you are supposed to use the wall and build momentum to attack not just stand there and repeat attack button
it's clearly a tutorial, it even introduced the enemie as show the player how to defeat them.
+Abraham Angulo ikr. people in the comments are stupid af
It's good finally to see a gameplay of brand new Mirror's Edge. I bought it still in the pre-order as fast as I could, but to be honest, I was hoping more from graphics... (so far I've been watching from this gameplay, of course, so that I didn't play any beta yet)

Omg.. The combat looks so AWKWARD!
Guys who knows what about animation lifting leg during the jump, as well as the acceleration of the animation_?!
If this is Xbox One, why did they disable the V-Sync?
You can see tearing from the screen, like in Mirror's Edge 1
This is mostly the PC version with an xbox controller hooked up. Not sure if the console version is 60 fps
THEY HAVE AN ANIMATION FOR ENEMIES BUMPING INTO EACH OTHER!?!? For real that is amazing
Watching everyone try to figure out the combat is painful. The devs said it before. it's momentum based. But everyone just wants to run up and spam the attack button. How about a sliding kick? Why do faiths thumbs phase through the pipe?
I wish you could still collect their weapons.

+fawfulmark2 It's confirmed that you can turn them off
Wtf IGN enough with the Quantum Break ads
Yeah it's just tiresome now
+REE ANIMATION actually, they do. But they don't choose the ads by hand.
It was Starkiller? 4:40
How to make this game way better:
- Get rid of the health bars
- Better AI (please)
- LET ME USE GUNSSSS (please please)
They won't change this in a month
+Jack Rowlands besides, you can turn the health bars off in the options and the ai is dumb because this is a mini tutorial
Jack Rowlands what about guns?
+comanderthe1 yeah, they're gone m8. Sorry buddy
I think it'd be pretty badass if her knuckles started showing damage after a few swings. It would add to the realism and be super awesome to see knuckles a little bloodied after a fight.
After all, she is punching a protective helmet with little to no hand protection
IGN doing a gameplay video, like in actual GAMES never thought I would see that happen.
Needs more power grunting while hitting and not just power grunting but sexy power grunting, like: Heeyah! Unhuugh! Mmoouugghhhgghh~! (with some quiver), and Ouughuu, oh and don't forget the usual, Hiyah! when is the demo coming out pls
Playing this game without the HUD would be amazing
Combat has greately improved, blending of freerunning movements is also better! Can't wait for the release to explore the city freely ;D How about a possible Pure mode DLC for this game too IGN? :D
Why are you telling IGN this? They're not gonna make it happen
0:04 - Half-Life 2 metal dent sound?
from the thumbnail I though it was on VR....I wouldn't be in a room with a person who's playing mirrors edge with VR...
When the beta arrives?
April 22nd
+Jack Rowlands okay, thanks
it's so clean and white i love it
I'm surprised just how similar it all looks to the original game. Don't really know what I was expecting..
just like the first game I'll wait for the price drop
the AI have mad inertia, its like they cant stop once they get going
i didn't mind the first game and was excited that they were bringing it to current gen, after seeing the amount of screen tearing, AI and combat i think i can safely say i can cross this off my list now, oh well :(
2:44 ANOTHA ONE
So excited for this game!
I missed the beta? Dang. : (
No you didn't, it comes out on April, but I don't know if you can still sign up
+guilmon981 I hope I did, I signed up the day it was announced
+guilmon981 good luck dude, if you get in and I don't, you gotta tell me all about it
+guilmon981 just checked your channel. You seem pretty cool! If you wanna see anything from me, search "Nirkah Gaming". I only have one vid up, it's a montage of games I've enjoyed these past few months. I'll also be posting ME content either from the beta or full game.
a 92 year old blind dog was playing
Weell there goes that pre-order......
This made me less excited for this game.
+healingduck Its....a beta
+Nick Kellar that argument doesn't really work when the game comes out soon
+healingduck That's what happens when you see your grandpa play a game for the first time.
+Nick Kellar It comes out next month. It's practically a demo. I believe the combat will suffer in this game. Other than the movement and just the parkour in general looks great. Combat? Not so much.
It's the people that don't know how to play this game that ruin the game.
What will the rez and fps be on PS4?
1080 30 most likely
I heard it was gonna be 60fps and 900p in an older article. Debating whether I need to build a gaming pc. Lol
+David Lagnado You do.
+Paul Lowe I just can't afford to. Lol
does anyone know if this game will have co op?
+SlowMotion no it wont. sadly
HazeSwarm damn I think that's a missed opportunity for this game.
+SlowMotion No
I need this game now
I thought this game would look better. Looks like a mod for TF2
+AJ Styles This was recorded on xbox. When it hits pc on full release it will have 4k graphics
+HazeSwarm recorded on PC with a gamepad*
The sound of the chip being pulled out sounds like something from Garry's mod...or maybe that's just me, I did play quite a bit yesterday.
Assassins creed combat in this game would be good imo.
this graphically speakking does look impressive it looks likke it was made in 2008.. allright?
I really don't think a ' runner ' should be able to take on 2-3 trained guards at a time. It just takes away from the premise of being a runner
+ZakX11
Here's to hoping they have a hard difficulty where standing your ground in group fights isnt viable.
It looks pretty sweet to land a kick or punch while in high speed, but standing still while fighting just makes both the player and the enemy look incompetent.
is this AI supposed to be some tutorial AI? In the first game you had to be quick and they we're dangerous.
+D1visor its a tutorial level. On top of that the person playing is also trash lol.
oldman22 whatever you say bro. Its only a tutorial.
the ai with guns are very dangerous
GladiusAnime Just imagine the Ai in general when its not a tutorial.
Well, in the first one, if you didn't dodge/iintercept an attack at the right time you would be dead pretty fast. Getting hit by the grip of the gun, shot, etc all resulted in death pretty fast.
IGN- 10/10
Isn't this suppose to get us excited? Get someone who's experienced to play the game...
Wish they made a sequel
Ehh, A.I. still needs work, but the reactions they have when colliding with each other is a nice touch.
So they still have *faith* in this game? Nice!
How does the combat look bad when it looked way better in previous e3 trailers?
see i liked mirrors edge for the free running puzzzles
and this seems way more combat base
I think this is one of those games thats better playing than watching
With a game heavily based on parkour, how intelligent do you expect or want the AI to even be?
To a reasonable standard at least. Terrible AI breaks the immersion
I might buy this on PS4
Can't tell if this game is open world or not...
it is
+REE ANIMATION Then it's still open world. If you're able to roam around on the roofs only, what'll you call it instead? Open Roof?
+Bastjan Sejberg (COHL7500) Sand roof gameplay
+Andrew Perez IGN Review :6/10 -not enough storms -not enough Darude
+Bastjan Sejberg (COHL7500) That's not open world. It's non-linear levels that aren't open to real exploration. "Open World" would suggest that - for the most part - what the player sees, they can go to.
The combat looks like a frustrating chore
+bigdjman45 it was anything but. The player is too dumb to remember what they learnt in the tutorial. You can use momentum to dispatch the enemies quicker. Just standing there hitting them is slower than using momentum.
is it solar fields?
Doing the music, yes
seeing gameplay shouldn't make me less excited. i really wish this was third person.
Mirriors Edge being first person was what made it unique
this is the AI from 2000, and the combat looks sooo trash 😂
+Sal Poullard i dunno i think its the dude playing it, your supposed to run off the walls and kick them in the face and stuff
+Jamie Robert there are 20 days till release lol
nothing is changing
+Jamie Robert beta = end product 99% of The time.
+Sal Poullard It was just a tutorial
Sal Poullard it's just a tutorial and the guy isn't doing it right, watch jackfrags's gameplay video, he actually played it right, be used the walls and running abilities to knock people out and he didn't stand in one place and spammed random moves.
new age pwn thyme nothing w/ this; futuristic generation of ours to come
This game look so Good!
I am so excited for this game! It looks far better than UC4. (No I'm not comparing them.)
+Necromancer "Better than" indicates a comparison. But yeah, this game looks decent.
+Corey O/N It far from "decent" doe.
+Necromancer It's*
Necromancer To me it just looks decent. The combat has yet to impress me, the normal enemies don't look very competent or challenging. Maybe it's b/c I've never played a mirror's edge game and don't get the hype.
I think dark souls 3: inquisition is better
my fears are becoming reality
the people in this comment section damn, can't be fun being so negative all the time. Didn't even see 5 minutes of pre-released gameplay and already bashing useless things.

why does this game focus a lot on combat?? like the heavy kick and the thing which is connected to movements like wallrun to death or leap to death was ENOUGH!! idk why is there even things like dodge when you can just run around the guy or quickly take him out using momentum...
And it turned out that the only useful attacks are the heavy ones anyway

Get rid of the health bar. Make more animations for the guards to protect themselves, Pushing faith away? That's it?
I think the combat looks cool, but it has a lot more potential than what they have done here. I hope you can at least use some form of counter move and not just dodging.
+Domen Kay
The player in the video seems to be pretty bad. The combat is supposed to be about speed and momentum, and here we have a guy standing still and hitting the attack button.
At 2:18 did faith just bitchslap the guard?!?!
lel I think she did
Yes, with her foot
The reason the combat looks so bad is because the people playing the game dont know what they are doing and its the intro of the game, so it seems they've made it too easy. There will likely be difficulty options, so that you actually have to fight with momentum and not stand still and press random buttons like every player showcasing combat has been.

You don't have to do the missions when you play yourself.
yooo the combat looks like so much fun lol just toying with the guards until you knock them out haha
also for the people complaining about stupid AI, do you want the guards to just maul faith? come on you're not locked down like the arkham combat system. you can tackle this however you want. If the AI was faster the game would not be fun when it comes to encounters and the only thing you'd be able to do is run or get a 1 hit KO.
This is awesome and I am so ready!!!
nos about the next gameplay you do USE VSYNC !!!!
+Bellaco Gaming it's youtube..
+Adam Ant not really I've seen 1920p by 1080p 60FPS gaming on another guy named Cult of Mush and not once I've seen trippyness (I know that this is not a real word but you understand me)
Don't understand why people are complaining about the graphics they look great but the combat though...
+RoboSaurus Nobody is complaining about the graphics lol
the combat is like that because it's tutorial AI they want you to learn all the way stuff first that's why it pops up to show you what to do
+Andrey Ivashin hadif786
+Andrey Ivashin Aj Styles
+Andrey Ivashin "I thought it would look better". "This looks like a TF2 Mod". Please Explain.
Mirrors Edge Remastered
Isn't this a closed beta? Why are you guys uploading footage of it?
closed in a sense that, access isn't guaranteed. not in the "top secret" closed beta sense, if that makes sense
Xoreign Oh okay. Because sometimes closed betas would require players to accept some sort of terms where they couldn't upload footage of the closed beta online
+Orville Scott after signing up for the beta on their site, I read that players would be allowed to record gameplay
This game didn't need a sequel, but we need a new Call of duty and Assassin's Creed every year?
+David Lagnado did I say that dumbass?! I don't play either of those games.
You are missing the point. This game brings originality to gaming. If you condemn it, especially before playing it, then we will be stuck with the same old formula of games. People need to buy this so that won't happen.
loved the first game but this looks very messy
Game looks fun but the AI doesn't look that smart during combat. It takes them forever to realize you moved left or right while dodging. This may be a beta but it comes out in a month and how they made the enemies seems cheap. The parkour looks tons of fun but the enemies are like the stooges.
