Lately I've been binging ren faire vlogs, and this one was fantastic! I love seeing people get into fiber arts! (my family has a small sheep farm) I actually just finished spinning several skeins (I pronounce it Skayn) on a spinning wheel. I'd recommend Marino (the breed of sheep) fiber as an all over good beginner fiber, it can also be dyed if you buy white or a light color! There's so much to explore if you get into fiber!

Loved this, I'm in the UK and although there are 'faerie fayres' and others similar, theres nothing like an American Ren fair here at all. I love watching videos of people going and doing activities, shopping and eating all the stuff! I like the little GRWM beforehand too :)

Your ren faire vlogs are such a delight to watch. They really capture what it feels like to attend one! I've been binging ren faire vlogs recently to prepare for my local one (Bristol, WI) to open in a little under 2 months, and came across your channel from that. Was so excited to see you just uploaded another 😊 Your vlogs inspire me to start vlogging again and especially to vlog at ren faires!
Also love the elf look! 💚🧝‍♀

Very beautiful video as always! I always love watching Renfaire vlogs because they don't really exist in Germany, and the one you went to looks so fun! The dragon puppet at 3:30! She is gorgeous! And the drop spindles! Oh my goodness, it's all so cool and everyone looks fantastic!

Not a ren faire, but for fiber arts demos/workshops in a festival environment, you should come out to Maryland's sheep & wool festival (spring; alas this year's just passed) or the fall alpaca festival. Not to be missed: the alpaca obstacle course competition (fall), the sheep-to-shawl competition (spring), and nearly spherically fluffy rabbits (both)

Hi I know this vid was from a year ago but I hope you read this: I was happy to see you feature and compare my local renfaire with others but I just want to mention that LA is not actually a desert (as you mentioned) LA has a chaparral Mediterranean climate, calling it a desert is misinformation and impacts our local ecology because this common misconception has caused landscapers to treat it as one. Our native trees are oaks and sycamores, not palm trees and while we do have dry hot summers, we also are supposed to have cool wet winters (we just happen to be coming out of a very long drought). Anyway, I don’t want to come off as a nitpicker I just want to help educate!

Lovely to see you two at the Faire in LA. I remember when it was in Agoura CA... I learned to spin wool there! May you enjoy many decades of spinning! My hands no longer let me spin so I buy my spun wool and angora yarns from a local crafter who has her own sheep and goats and teaches fiber arts at faire... she can be found at the Oregon Renaissance Faire in Canby OR in June, Canterbury Renaisance Faire in Silverton OR in July, and the Washington Midsummers Renaissance Faire in Bonney Lake WA in August... I used to work those faires but now have become a playtron rather then a player.

I've been a professional henna artist for years and have done henna at the ren faire a few time but this time ill actually be there all season. It'll be cool to see you if you decide to stop by and get a henna!

SoCal is one of my favorites! I grew up going to that one!
I believe Texas also has some craft classes too. Though last time I went, I mainly focused on drinking.
Parking at faires is really dependent on States. For tye So Cal one it's actually on State Park you have to pay for Parking there any time of the year.

Loved seeing you learn how to use the drop spindle. I remember going to an agricultural show as a teen and a lady there was carding & spinning wool only she was using a spinning wheel. She did let me card the wool some but I wasn't able to stay long enough to learn how to use the spinning wheel which is kind of a shame. 🧚‍♀

one of these days i'll get back to going to ren faires and medieval faires... plan is to have some chain mail done up.. takes a while to do it by hand.. even using some majik "power drill" to help make all the links, assembly is still slow... also need to redo my wand as well, though my staff is still intact.. it is built Atlantian style, basically a copper rod wrapped in leather with a quartz crystal topper...

One of my favorite things to do for Ren Faire is camping. Never met a more social community. I would like to find a ren fair that has a little more shade though, my local one that has space for camping is in the middle of a giant field with no shade at all.

Do you just go to renamed faire's for the shopping and food? I noticed you did not mention any of the performers that are making shows and music to entertain and bring the renamed faire "to life". I did see some fantastic street performers as you panned around, but you did not mention anything about entertainment. I fell in love with faire at the Pleasure Faire in 1978, when I was 14. I now have been performing in Florida faire's for 45 years. Our vendors and craftsmen are amazing, but the performers are the very heart of any Faire.

That looked like a fun faire. I just went last weekend to the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival in Muskogee, and it was quite nice. Definitely one I've been recommending people to hit up if they can.
Now I'm just waiting for the little one near me this fall, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. It's still pretty new (just started in 2019), but I like supporting cool events when I can, since this state gets passed over for a lot of things I would be interested in.
