@@GuQTRa I've been boating since 1963. I'm an experienced boater not a professional however using a courtesy dock to give one first dibs at a dock is wrong. Dock the boat, then get the trailer. The guy with the truck needs to be educated on the purpose of the courtesy dock. It’s there for loading and unloading when not needing a ramp. Imagine the chaos if everyone did likewise. All the boats jockeying to get to the one courtesy dock and a bunch of empty ramps with invisible placeholders. The guy with the boat could have easily moved, but that would simply encourage the other guy to repeat his mistake in the future. The boat guy did us all a favor. Guy in the truck was wrong. In his logic there'd be a line of boats waiting to get on the courtesy dock leaving most of the lanes open. 95% of the ramps I've been at don't even have a courtesy dock. Also, his wife is gonna get his ass kicked one of these days

This was all timing. Truck was the aggressor backing down on the boat. Probably should have waited or had his wife stand at the dock communicating their intentions. Both point of views are valid but the truck chose the harder route. Expecting that dock to remain empty is a fools errand. End of day shenanigans... can ruin a completely awesome day.

@@GuQTRa Proper etiquette is out the window at a place like this. This holds true at smaller lakes and on weekdays, but good luck trying to enforce anything like this on a weekend. Boat was at the dock before the truck even began to back up, boats dock. Second, it's so much easier to move the truck to the ramp to the left than the boat.
Yeah, the truck driver could (should have) seen the boat was already there. While using the courtesy dock is one way to recover your boat, it was the truck driver backing up to a ramp/ dock that was _already_ occupied that _caused_ this stand-off. That said, given that the truck driver was clearly operating alone (has an inoperative wife), it would have been easier for the boat on the dock to move aside, and I guess that _might_ have happened had the truck driver not _started_ his interaction with the owner of the boat on the dock by aggressively barking orders at him.

Guy who backed down caused issue with attitude. If he hadn't, the dock right next to them was immediately open and the guy in the red could've simply slid over with current helping him. Attitude caused the issue. Guy backing down in front of him was the initial instigator in my mind.
Boat already at the dock had the right. The Karen yelling who obviously can't drive the boat or the truck is annoying and useless. If she could drive either this would not have happened,
The white truck is an idiot you don't just put your trailer in the water if someone is already docked getting ready to leave. You wait for a empty dock then put your trailer in. So what you used a courtesy dock that dock is for hanging out if you're not going in or out or just waiting to pick up someone. Choose your dock when you come in and get your trailer is how its done. Both the guy in white truck and his lady need to be educated on how to use the ramps.
Here in California boats are supposed to stay out of the way of trailering boats. Basically you can’t park your boat on the dock in a spot where your blocking someone with a trailer in the water from getting their boat on. It’s crazy how all these people tie up before trailering. Usually you drop off the driver and stay OFF the docks until your trailer shows up. When you see your trailer show up then proceed to trailer it. You can’t just tie up for half an hour waiting for your trailer blocking other ready boaters. If your alone or have no competent drivers tie up out of the way and bring your boat in once your trailer is in place. The trailer has priority over a docked boat. It’s a boat launch not a marina.
If someone would have blocked the launch we we have to wait for them. Could be minutes or 30 minutes. Blocking the boat launch just adds hours of unnecessary time and aggravation at the launch site. Be ready, have two Competent drivers or captains. Train your crew so you don’t have to do it all by yourself. It’s really easy . Don’t mind a few dings. This is a fun time. If your trainee hits the dock or trailer just let it go and give them positive reinforcement. My wife is great at trailering our boat, we’ve had years boating and I never got mad when things didn’t go as planned. She’s hit the dock or come up sideways with the boat. It’s a learning experience that can be fun and fulfilling. My wife has had so many different trailering situations now that I prefer her dock the boat and if it goes sideways it’s just our boat. No need to get mad. Just use your knowledge for next time. It’s all for fun.
This was 100% an ego trip of the white truck driver. He's got the fancy truck, the fancy trailer, and the fancy boat. He immediately tried to force the other boater off the slot because he clearly felt it was HIS spot, when he didn't even have his wife stand there to hold it. Honestly, I can't blame the red shorts dude, when someone out of the blue starts yelling and spewing hate at you, I'd not back down either. Allowing a bully to get their way is not being the bigger man, it only proves to the bully that their behavior gets them their way. So props Red shorts, you stood up to the bully, and didn't let him force you into compliance.
I'm no dock etiquette expert, but anyone who drives some ridiculous compensator truck, jumps out with a massive beer gut and immediately starts yelling is in the wrong. He's like the type that rear ends someone at a stop light and then starts screaming at them for not getting out of his way. Guessing a heart attack is just around the corner for that guy.
The way I see it possession is 9/10 ths of the law if your boat is not at the dock for removal your holding up progress it is easier to move your vehicle than your vessel and the truck should move. The guy in the truck should have waited for an open dock and parked his boat there then got his truck like everyone else does it so there is no question to who has dock/ramp rights.
Dude in the blue shirt started this whole thing coming down there like it was his own personal dock.. so now the guys tied up on the dock have to flex on his ass outta spite or they get there man card revoked
Boat that was on the dock has the right of way. The truck and trailer were way late to that ramp. Now that being said, both could have resolved this faster and easier.
After the truck guy pulled down and got out barking orders was trying to intimidate the boat guy to get his way. I don't blame the boat guy for not moving. You can't reward aggressive and bad behavior.
So if everyone adopts truck guy's new Boyton procedure, there will be a line of 30 boats waiting to dock at the courtesy ramp, while all of the other docks are empty. And if truck guy is right, why have any docks there besides the courtesy dock? It's almost as if the docks were designed to....dock at
Either a boat or a trailer can hold a spot at the ramp whoever is their 1st So in this case the boat was there occupying the slip first the truck should have picked an empty slip to back down not an occupied one.
So what if the guy in the white truck pulls up and there are no empty ramps (boats tied up) and they are in line in back of him? Boats tied to docks do not secure the ramp. The trailer does. The line will never move otherwise. This is especially important at smaller 1-3 ramps.
The right attitude goes a long ways. I would have moved for the dude if he had gotten out of his truck and talked with respect. All bets are off if you let your wife / girlfriend start yapping away. 😆
The guy who docked his boat when there was no other boat there, especially when there was no truck there. I bet the guy could not get a clear dock, so he parked at the courtesy dock, which is for loading and unloading in the first place, figured he could jump a dock with his truck and every one would cower to hollering. The boat stood his ground and good on him. But yes, he could have just piloted over a dock.....but then he would have just enabled the bully
Launching: After you launch your boat proceed to the courtesy dock to pick up your vehicle driver - then go on your way.. If you choose not to use the courtesy dock, you should at least not block the ramp slot while you wait for your vehicle driver. Move the boat out of the way while waiting for the vehicle driver to return from parking the vehicle. . Loading: - ALWAYS GO TO the courtesy dock and drop off your vehicle driver to bring the vehicle down to the ramp. If there is a boat operator staying with the boat, go idle around out of the way while waiting. DON"T PARK YOUR BOAT on the main ramp boat docks - this blocks all ramp usage of that slot until your vehicle comes down and you complete loading -- this is BAD form. SOLO BOATERS will generally need to park their boat at the courtesy dock while they park their vehicles or go retrieve them.
I think the the guy with the truck should have pulled his boat up to the ramp then went for his truck.he’s either by his self or who ever he’s with can’t drive boat or truck
The way most boaters here in Cali do it, on the lakes at lest, is you drop some off to go get the trailer then you clear out of the dock and wait till your trailer is backed down the ramp and then you pull up load up and GFOTW.
I side with the outboard guys. Were at the dock first. Courtesy dock doesn’t count. Boat claims the spot. Boat was in position before trailer came down. Either cap could have made it easier though. Slip on left was open multiple times. Pride is hard to swallow.
The trailer line never moves when boats are parked in the ramp! Hahaha! You are funny! Everyone park in the ramp! That way no trailer can ever back in and the line never moves! This is just a symptom of a much bigger problem at all of these ramps that are popular in the videos. The correct way to be efficient at the ramps is to have the boat drop off a truck/trailer driver at a dock, and back away from the dock and stay out of the way. The boat should NOT be tied at the dock waiting for someone to get a trailer! Then when the boat operator sees your trailer going into the water, it approaches the dock/ramp, and loads! The boat has not taken up space tied up to the dock stopping someone else from using the ramp! We back the trailer in, wife or someone else driving the boat brings the boat to the trailer, loads and we are off the ramp in 2 minutes or less. Then we are off the ramp and out of the way while we secure to boat to the trailer and stow everything before transport. Why anyone thinks that tying your boat up to a dock and dawdling around blocking the ramp while someone wanders around a parking lot to get the trailer is ok is beyond comprehension. That said, the guy in the blue shirt and his wife and the "MY PENI$ IS BIGGER THAN YOURS" attitude is simply wrong backing down ramp on someone else's boat, but that boat should not have been there in the first place! And then there are the A$$HOLES that are always powering their boats onto the trailers ... rant for another day ...
Busy days boat has the right of way. Park the boat get your truck. If it’s a light day get the truck I guess. But curtesy docks arnt everywhere and doesn’t save a dock space for you.
The very fact that this channel exists to film the chaos in the states makes me thankful that I live in Australia. Yes we don’t have dock fights hahaha
The boat was there first. It is his spot. If the guy in the truck would have acted normal he would have had a shot at getting the boat to move. I wouldn't have moved my boat either with someone telling me to move my boat and I was in the right.
dude in the truck is clearly in the wrong......using the courtesy ramp like that is like sending your kid to save a spot in line for the next roller coaster while the rest of the family is riding a different one.
I've been through that myself. About 15 boats waiting at a double ramp. A guy bypassed everbody by pulling into a slip and one guy got off and went for the truck. Backed down the ramp just as we were pulling to the dock and all hell broke loose.
The common etiquette is if there is a line waiting to launch or load you do not dock your boat and block the lane. We always have a truck driver and boat driver in the boat. Boat drops truck driver off to get trailer and move into line. Boat leaves the dock and waits for truck and trailer to eventually (after waiting in line) back down launch. Then boat driver moves boat onto trailer. No one else is inconvienced. It always surprises me when the husband ties to the dock and wife does not know how to drive boat. Then the husband thinks they can jump in front of the line (sometimes 15-20 boats wanting to load) to load there boat. Boat was in the wrong, but truck guy was a jerk.
First of all, the muscular shirtless guy was literally already tied up at the dock when Mr. Wakeboat Monster Truck backs down the ramp, jumps out like he’s ready to kick some ass and tries to order the other guy off the dock. I don’t blame the tied up boat at all. There are too many “dock bullies” who think they can do whatever they want and people will just do what they want them to if they yell at them long enough. Kudos to this guy for sticking to his guns. I would have done the same thing. It’s not a battle of wills. You just need to show these people they can’t get away with that crap.
the most common practice is pull your boat up to the ramp then get your trailer. it probably gets difficult when you have heavy traffic like this place. I assume walking to your vehicle could take extra time that could factor in as well
When it is busy that is exactly how it works. You don't normally pull your truck up and then park your boat three ramps over. The guy in the white truck was overly impatient and decided to play the game differently then everyone else. the loser here was the guy in the boat doing it the right way. Mr impatient finally did what should have happened the first place.

Also the trailer was in no position to retrieve a boat, so the guy would have to move it anyway.

Boat was at the dock before the truck even began to back up, boats dock. Second, it's so much easier to move the truck to the ramp to the left than the boat.
exactly
Yeah, the truck driver could (should have) seen the boat was already there. While using the courtesy dock is one way to recover your boat, it was the truck driver backing up to a ramp/ dock that was _already_ occupied that _caused_ this stand-off.
That said, given that the truck driver was clearly operating alone (has an inoperative wife), it would have been easier for the boat on the dock to move aside, and I guess that _might_ have happened had the truck driver not _started_ his interaction with the owner of the boat on the dock by aggressively barking orders at him.

The boat on the dock was definitely in the right. When you get out of the truck screaming expect no help.
Guy in the boat was definitely in the right.
White truck guy was wrong.
Thanks bro.. that was me on the boat.. fuck that guy, thinks he owns everything
The good answer is the guy on the dock is right! Courtesy docks aren’t for reserving space on the ramp!
Nothing like a relaxing day of boating.
Dude in the blue shirt started this whole thing coming down there like it was his own personal dock.. so now the guys tied up on the dock have to flex on his ass outta spite or they get there man card revoked
Bronco, you're the king of boat videos!
Never let bullies have their way, it reaffirms bad behavior.
So if everyone adopts truck guy's new Boyton procedure, there will be a line of 30 boats waiting to dock at the courtesy ramp, while all of the other docks are empty. And if truck guy is right, why have any docks there besides the courtesy dock? It's almost as if the docks were designed to....dock at
The guy with the truck should have pulled his boat to a dock spot and then gone and got his truck.
Nothing like a nice peaceful day on the water with the Mrs.
Either a boat or a trailer can hold a spot at the ramp whoever is their 1st
So in this case the boat was there occupying the slip first the truck should have picked an empty slip to back down not an occupied one.
So what if the guy in the white truck pulls up and there are no empty ramps (boats tied up) and they are in line in back of him? Boats tied to docks do not secure the ramp. The trailer does. The line will never move otherwise. This is especially important at smaller 1-3 ramps.

The way most boaters here in Cali do it, on the lakes at lest, is you drop some off to go get the trailer then you clear out of the dock and wait till your trailer is backed down the ramp and then you pull up load up and GFOTW.
I was just gonna say the same thing. In CA guy with trailer at the ramp has right of way.
I side with the outboard guys. Were at the dock first. Courtesy dock doesn’t count. Boat claims the spot. Boat was in position before trailer came down. Either cap could have made it easier though. Slip on left was open multiple times. Pride is hard to swallow.

But curtesy docks arnt everywhere and doesn’t save a dock space for you.

dude in the truck is clearly in the wrong......using the courtesy ramp like that is like sending your kid to save a spot in line for the next roller coaster while the rest of the family is riding a different one.
Good point
I'm with the woman sitting in the boat ignoring everyone......

First of all, the muscular shirtless guy was literally already tied up at the dock when Mr. Wakeboat Monster Truck backs down the ramp, jumps out like he’s ready to kick some ass and tries to order the other guy off the dock. the most common practice is pull your boat up to the ramp then get your trailer. it probably gets difficult when you have heavy traffic like this place.
Just like the a guy with a corvette lookin for a place to park, in his mind, he's KING because of his car and everyone else should move out of the way cause he has more rights. Seems to me, if you park your boat at the "curiosity" dock, you're not in a rush so get your rig, and TAKE A NUMBER! You are NOT spacial !
Why the hell would you back down a ramp where someone just docked their boat and just expect them to leave? 0:13 You can clearly see their are going for the dock. That lady was on the dock with ropes while the truck guy was still waiting for the people BEFORE them to pull out. Are you kidding me? The truck guy was 100% in the wrong here.
Hell yea thank you.. that was me on the boat.. fuck that guy and his big ass truck lol
I am a professional boater, the general rule is that the first vehicle/vessel in position has right of way, however if both get into position at the same time the boat has right of way because it takes longer to move out of the way! The truck was massively in the wrong!
Hope the guy in the dually truck sees this video and the comments and learns from it.
Helll yea.. he was a prick, I was the guy on the boat.. the ramp was empty, so he can go kick rocks
A KAREN of the Boat Ramp!
great the guy in the truck was in a " curtesy " dock ....but it does not say what dock he has to back down ... the guy in the boat was right ...he just pulled up on a open dock ....he has no idea what the guy in the truck was doing and what boat was were ...the guy in the truck should have docked another dock .....but he was thinking his shit does not stink
The man that pulled his boat along the dock
Teach your Old Lady to back the thing down the ramp, it's not that hard.
The joy of boating
Dude with the truck could have picked any ramp, he picked one that had a boat tied up to it. If he had chosen a different ramp with a different boat tied up, would it have been any different. Boat was at the dock and claimed it first
0:40 so why didnt traler guy go into the dock on the far left where the boat n trailer had just pulled out from which he was blocking to start with
Proud of my man in the red shorts!! He was in the right. Who backs down a trailer when a boat is already tied up to the dock.
Thanks bro.. I was the dude in the red shorts lol, fuck that guy.. thinks he’s better then everyone
"Sorry Dude. My outboard died. I'm gonna be here a while."
I would drive an extra hour to avoid this boatramp
Ok I’d say lets take a poll but reading the comments I cant say I found one comment supporting the truck guy.
