19:10 this story is similar to the events of the Mad Max Game which released several months after Fury Road. While not considered cannon 'officially,' named characters from the game do appear in the Furiosa movie. In it, the story is told by Griff a wandering shaman, that Max was looking for 'the plains of silence' basically a place where he wouldn't be bothered by all the PTSD he has. He gets accosted by Scrotus Erectus, Son of Imortan Joe and sticks a chainsaw in his head. He meets Chumbucket, a deformed mechanic (Who also appears in Furiosa with the name Chumbucket in the credits) who wants max to help him build a new car which max seems to just be ok with stealing for himself. He does meet Glory who is stated to be the daughter of Doctor D, (pretty much confirmed to be Dementus) and her mother hope. They, similar to the comic, are killed by Scrotus and Max goes after him basically sacrificing Chumbucket and his new car to get revenge in a pretty gut wrenching scene. Luckily Scrotus kept Max's Interceptor which he uses to ride away but it's probably one of the darkest entry in the Mad Max Saga.
One thing no one has touched on yet is there was a lot of gun fire in Furiosa. Not so much in Mad Max. Ammo is scarce. A beautiful detail in the timeline.
@@NightlingGaming doesn't really matter to these people, people like them immediately decided they didn't like Furiosa for reasons that have nothing to do with the film
The timeline of Mad Max will remain a mystery. Yes, there is plenty of room for speculation. what ifs, could have beens etc. I think George Miller does good for keeping the timeline a mystery, since it is obvious, that it is not meant to be solved :)
I’ve been in a rabbit hole for this franchise for the last week because I was seeing Furiosa and my goodness the more videos I watch with Lore and BTS the more I absolutely adore this franchise!! And I’ve not even seen the original trilogy
Not a critique in any way, but it bothers me just a little that George Miller is a former medical doctor and he put O pos as the universal sober, when it is O negative that is the universal donor. Cheers
I understood the scene with Fifi and the Commissioner where he leaves with the fencing mask was he was off to do kendo, ie sword fighting with sticks, ie prancing about with an indulgence while the cops were ar war and everything was crumbling
Her name is Hope. Her and her daughter's story is explained more in the videogame. Play it! They say it's noncanon but they're literally gearing up to adapt it as a Furiosa Sequel. They already introduced key characters in Furiosa.
I saw Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior before I saw any of the other movies in the franchise, so I ALWAYS kind of looked at Max as a mythical folk hero being recounted through the legends of some future society--like their version of Perseus or King Arthur.
3:08 it’s not a broomstick, it’s a shinai, a traditional Japanese practice sword. Both 1 and 2 feature a bureaucrat wearing traditional Japanese armor and weaponry. It was a motif for Miller.
14:21 Honestly the mad max series usually opens with seemingly a different narrator then the previous entry. Since most of 'history' in the wasteland has been lost its safe to say theres a bit of leeway in terms of interpretation for a exact timeline. That also allots for a bit of inconsitency of events and even characters. in the Mad Max Game (which is confirmed to be non cannon but the devs were given extensive information regarding the world of mad max and honestly a lot of stuff tends to be able to fit) Max goes against Scrotus Maximus who we see in Furiosa, however Scrotus in the game more closely resembles his Brother Rictus from the movies. It wouldn't shock me if the hand wave explanation for that is just the different story tellers just often got the two mixed up.
The Dark One, Max's partner also printed on his Interceptor went into early retirement didn't die! as Goose explains his life changing accident.. was written out of the script due to budget and time constraints but was a large influence on Max as a mentor building his character as he has no father. The Dark One was excatly as his name describes him. Max unleashed his alter ego that he always had as a few things pushed him.
Where the timeline is concerned i just assume each movie is a story told by a different History Man/Word Burger, each person have been told about Max but dont know the full facts like his age, or change parts which explain why Max looks different in every movie, which in turn makes him an hybrid Robin Hood character of the wasteland But for me Mad Max Mad Max TRW Furiosa Mad Max: Comic (The Wasteland) Mad Max: Fury Road Mad Max: BT
Lots of babble and projecting hypothesis but I like it. I went a bit feral as a kid when moved around from school to school six times I'd go bush with our two dogs and a sling shot to get away from the world for so long sometimes my mum nearly sent out search parties. Then I saw Mad Max 2 and that was my world in my head. Its always been there even though I am a civilized person but then and now I still see it as a very possible scenario of civilization. Maybe even more now. Only I'm 53 now.
I like to see Max as myself. Just a man constantly being distracted by side quest in shit hole places while constantly trying to restore your classic V8 Ford muscle car.
The stock with the fencing mask is a "singlestick", essentially a trainer for the basket-hilted highland sword and victorian era passtime sport. Very Australian.
And I'm glad that Miller left unsaid and secrets around Mad Max. This makes this universe much better than the last Disney Star Wars, which is reduced to small pieces, completely erasing the legacy of EU and Kotor.
Max being younger than 25 at the first film simply wouldn't make any sense. Bro has a 3-5 year old child and house it seemed that he'd lived in for years, people thinking he's like 21 makes no sense.
It's a shame the game, the 2015 one..not the craptastic Nintendo one from the 80's; got so much flack, particularly at the developers. I feel they kept pretty faithful to the story, hell they even read the comics, which now explains to me the relevancy of mother and daughter, "Not Jessy"and Daughter' aka Hope and Miss Giddy(aka Mother of Hope) 17:20 , who appear in the 2015 game. It's a shame even a game as big as MM has people asking "what else is there??" after they're done. Like...play it again some day on harder difficulty?? Bah!

we never get explainaiton, why ammo should be scarce. No logic at all.. In Furiosa they got ammo and guns factory.
i mean for road warrior that makes sense but Immortan Joe had the bullet farm.
