One of my favorite farming families. I think when i retire I would offer my services to a farm to drive the equipment for free. I just need a case of water in the cab too!
I can't believe the cabs these days. I drove a tractor with no seat cushion left, you had to lean forward to avoid the bolt in the center back, no rotating seats, and definitely no cab. Just me, diesel smoke, and whatever the weather was (usually 90+ with 70-90% humidity) Good times tho, I wouldn't trade them for anything.
You said it all . The guy who noticed the break, got another tractor to the job and the show back on the road is the star of the show. Good video Winny. Peace.
I sure do admire the "keep going" attitude you and Dougo have, there are obstacles/problems everyday that could easily cause you to give up but you keep right on going! Very inspiring!
If you think they are impressive go checkout some of the people who work small farms who don't have the credit or money to call for a new tractor when theirs breaks and instead spend the night with a welder and torch fixing it. There's big money new equipment farming and then there's back breaking barely making a living farming. There's no inbetween anymore.

@BWM Well if he's driving 1200 miles to drive truck, sure he could make a side trip to put his ski googles to use as Texas has even fewer skiing hills than MN
Chet I’ve seen a track frame break like that before. And it was while pulling two 18 yard miskin scrapers. Case told us they had never seen it before either, and blamed it on the scraper. Said when turning under a full load was probably the blame. Who knows. And Dougo, you need tactical goggles, look them up in the ole Amazon.
I knew it wasn't a one off break. I'm guessing the hitch side pull from pulling the huge grain cart does it. 120,000 pound grain cart on tracks. Every time you turn the steering wheel on the QT, it is moving the hitch side to side. I'm guessing the sides failed before the top and bottom.
Keep up the great work guys... from the footage from each of the guys to the editing you all are doing a great job at entertaining us that love equipment and farming

@BWM a) You can weld cast iron. Check out SiBr. b) It's a weldment. @10:49 It must cost a fortune to have the dealer come out with a truck to pick up the tractor and fix it. $150/hr.
@BWM The broken piece is a weldment. Unless there is a an update to the design the new piece will break just like the old piece. They would have been better off to remove the broken piece and fix it while updating its strength. And do the one on the other side while they are at it, because sooner or later it will break too. Sorry your quad track broke down. Never fails that it happens at harvest time. Glad you could get a tractor to fill in until yours is fixed. Never seen one brake like that. Try some motorcycle goggles duggo they have a foam padding around the inside of the eye to keep dirt and corn debris for y’all out. Hope you find a good replacement! Good luck with with rest of harvest to y’all
I was thinking the same thing given what I saw with that break. One way to tell is if there's any rust, if so , where. If not, then you can bet that broken part will find its way back to Case for some 'form' of examination.
I've seen a crack like that on other equipment that started from small nick in the metal. I would have welded it and run it till the new parts showed up. But that's what I do for a living.
I would have to look at it for crystallization, but that was my first thought as well. And if it was internal, it wouldn't be detected without a magnetic scan, or catastrophic failure. And Larson Farms does not have a magno tester ;)
Larson's have the advantage of our eyeballs. Case will make it right. When I saw that crack, I figured it wasn't normal. UA-cam is the witness. Larson's won't have to say much.
If it were not for bad luck with your equipment you would not have any luck at all. Corn is cheap and you have a big costly repair coming Looks like peanut butter and toast for the rest of the winter for meals. 😢
Corn had better come up in price soon...China has lost approximately 70% of its agricultural production due to flooding. Their corn production was down 35% last year. Grain prices are being manipulated (IMF? National ag agencies?) prevent food shortage panic. It's coming... Some are estimating nearly 100% food inflation by end of year. Australia will be out of rice in less than a month. They contracted with Vietnam to make up their DOMESTIC shortage. Vietnam reneged on contract...they're ceasing export. They don't have enough for themselves. US and perhaps Brazil will be the only countries exporting. Grand Solar Minimum is upon us. Sun's electromagnetic radiation will continue to diminish throughout the decade, before slowly increasing back to normal over the next 40-60 years. Temperatures shouldn't decline that much; but growing seasons will be shortened. Mid-east has been receiving "2500 year" rainfall. The "Fertile Crescent" is back. You need to get PAID MORE NOW.
@@SwitchRod No grain shortage over here in Australia We're looking at an average year over in the west and over east theyre having the first year out of drought for some time So our over all country production will be double precious years Remember we have almost no local processing so it'll all be hitting the export market I wouldn't be reading too much into the Chinese floods either We farm corn across the border in Russia as well The damage from 3 tyhoons was quite bad but its held better than expected Itll still be harvest able with maybe a 30% loss The real unknown is North Korea They copped the brunt of the damage but no one will say publicly what damage they have But they wouldn't import anyway they'll just let the population starve like usual
Case will take care of it. I would be very surprised if they pay any rental fees. That would be a PR nightmare if they don't. Case has a chance to truly enhance brand value.
I love it...I get my fix of both colors. My cousin on my Moms side is GM of 3 local Case dealers and my cousins on my Dads side all run Green. I'm always torn!
Its not the tongue weight as you say but that beam must take the physical weight of the machine and the starting load adding to it. In other words the torque of the track. my guess is it is just too weak. From the footage it looks like a fatigue crack so either it has a poor transition, poor manufacturing such as under cut welds at the join. My guess is that the other ones will give trouble too. With finite analysis used in design these days these failures should never occur.
I think you are the only farmers I know that don’t swear. Even when things break and go really bad.

Whatever you do dont get an rx deere.... they're gutless nightmares....a 580 case will work circles around our 620rx
Nothing new.. but you can't tell the Green freaks that... what happened to the 2-track being superior. 😉
CHEERS CHET SMILE love to hear you say you ove heavy achinery,so do i ha,gnz
"I should break things more often." Lol
Try some motorcycle goggles duggo they have a foam padding around the inside of the eye to keep dirt and corn debris for y’all out. Hope you find a good replacement! Good luck with with rest of harvest to y’all
That looks like manufacturer workmanship quality warranty. Bad forging.
I was thinking the same thing given what I saw with that break. One way to tell is if there's any rust, if so , where. If not, then you can bet that broken part will find its way back to Case for some 'form' of examination.
@@ross6343 No way in my mind. Thats very old tech in general work and should easily last the life of the machine.
The best glasses you can buy are the Harley Davidson goggles they have a quarter inch of foam around the lenses
Its just a broken track, cant be that hard to fix.
The dealer should just put an track from a used Quadtrac on yours so you can get it back ASAP.
Hey 4 years later and yall have almost 500,000 subscribers!!
That’s Marine one. The new Case looks Bad to the bone.
Who here is after the grain rally looking back like wow.
Seen those broke before on quad track
Case should let you run the new stuff for free. Advertisement/ Review with Chet, Dougo and the Big Swede is better than anything out there.
If it were not for bad luck with your equipment you would not have any luck at all. Corn is cheap and you have a big costly repair coming Looks like peanut butter and toast for the rest of the winter for meals. 😢
The combines are harvesting 5,000 bu/hr x $3.25... I'm sure they'll find a way to pay for it.
@@SomeTechGuy666 the problem is they have 3.50 in growing a bushel.
@@SwitchRod
No grain shortage over here in Australia
We're looking at an average year over in the west and over east theyre having the first year out of drought for some time
So our over all country production will be double precious years
Remember we have almost no local processing so it'll all be hitting the export market
I wouldn't be reading too much into the Chinese floods either
We farm corn across the border in Russia as well
The damage from 3 tyhoons was quite bad but its held better than expected
Itll still be harvest able with maybe a 30% loss
The real unknown is North Korea
They copped the brunt of the damage but no one will say publicly what damage they have
But they wouldn't import anyway they'll just let the population starve like usual
Next episode Douggie melts down a grain drier after bypassing the gas valves...
Local sporting goods store should have the goggles Mr. Dougo, like below orange or yellow tint.
DougO, Have you thought about using ski goggles (clear). Scott makes an excellent goggle that fits the face supper well. Cheers....
Just throw on some flex tape chet you'll be good until you get another Tractor
FARMER’S LIVES MATTER!!!
