I think you are the only farmers I know that don’t swear. Even when things break and go really bad.
It takes a lot of discipline
…and a bit of editing
It's good to have Texas represented at your farm
It’s been my going to bed routine watching your latest video the past few weeks keep it up! Regards from Norway
Br from Romania
Same here. Every night when I get into bed lol. Greetings from UK
Here in Oregon it works out for me when I am done with school a new video comes out
Maybe swimming goggles
For maybe a face shield with a mask
Everyone is getting more and more comfortable in front of the camera. The big Swede can speak!!! Dougo is asking for recommendations on glasses -
Wow!!! How far they have come!
Chet, be proud of them, they grow up so fast.
That shot of the trucks emptying was superb.
Shut up
I thought so aswell
Yes it was!
WISH MY DAD WAS STILL ALIVE SO I COULD SHOW HIM COOL STUFF LIKE THIS...HE WAS RAISED ON A FARM BACK IN THE 1930S AND 40S....HE WOULD BE AMAZED!
There is so much more that goes on behind the scenes than most people realize. Far more than just riding around in tractors, thanks for taking the time to show this to everyone. One of the best channels on UA-cam now!!!
PS
I second the ski goggles, yellow lenses will be the best, and they'll seal up very good.
WWII style aviator goggles, motorcyclists use them too. Totally block the wind from getting at your eyes
Chet, That tile plow is the reason for the broken roller frame. Adjustment of the angle of the plow tip is critical to lessen the horsepower required to pull it. If the adjustment is too far off pulling the plow will be more difficult. When raising the plow out of the ground the weight of the plow and the resistance of raising it places more weight of the rear of the roller frame. A wheel kit for the plow would take care of most of the loading issues the back of the tractor. Also if rocks are a problem in your area this adds to the resistance. Always remember that the leverage from the plow is always changing based on the plow depth. Good luck on this. I would be worried the parts would be hard to locate since there has been design change on the roller frame.
Well that's all part of life. We break and we get repaired and we keep going. Great video u all thanks.
Looks like a perfect opportunity to get a sponsorship form JB weld. Just get a few buckets of that extra quick dry stuff, blow off the corn dust and glue that boggy up. 24 hours later you'll never know it broke! I garontold ya!
One of my favorite farming families. I think when i retire I would offer my services to a farm to drive the equipment for free. I just need a case of water in the cab too!
I can't believe the cabs these days. I drove a tractor with no seat cushion left, you had to lean forward to avoid the bolt in the center back, no rotating seats, and definitely no cab. Just me, diesel smoke, and whatever the weather was (usually 90+ with 70-90% humidity) Good times tho, I wouldn't trade them for anything.
You said it all . The guy who noticed the break, got another tractor to the job and the show back on the road is the star of the show. Good video Winny. Peace.
I think maybe pulling the tile plow might have caused that crack. We had a neighbor break his pulling a tile plow. My father and I have a 580 quadtrac we love it. Plenty of power and a smooth ride. Nice video stay safe and farm on my friends !
I was wondering about the tile plough, we near broke a quad in half 15 years ago here in the uk pulling one, the bottom articulation joint broke free
@Doc Savage the big buds are awesome those things are the pulling machine
Thanks for the top view of emptying trucks to fill storage bins.
Dougo, get yourself some ski goggles. I use a set tinted orange for hunting. Makes a huge difference. The orange or yellow tint take glare out of seeing deer in the fields. Like seeing them in HIGH Definition.
Isn’t this the second track you have had break?
Ya, but then Dougo will be dreaming he's seeing ski bunnies on the sides of the tanks and start chasing the nude ones with no OSHA safety gear on.
Ask Robbie from Texas. He likes to drive up from Texas to go snow skiing.
@BWM yeah no mountains but maybe he heads over to the UP. Heck we have downhill skiing in illinois. (Emphasis on hill)
@BWM Well if he's driving 1200 miles to drive truck, sure he could make a side trip to put his ski googles to use as Texas has even fewer skiing hills than MN
Good Luck Gentlemen. Life WILL get better!
At sea we gave up and started using good quality ski goggles. Works great.
Should have called Welkers to find out how to run the new tractor. Awesome video. Good editing, Nikki. Thanks.
Chet I’ve seen a track frame break like that before. And it was while pulling two 18 yard miskin scrapers. Case told us they had never seen it before either, and blamed it on the scraper. Said when turning under a full load was probably the blame. Who knows. And Dougo, you need tactical goggles, look them up in the ole Amazon.
I knew it wasn't a one off break.
I'm guessing the hitch side pull from pulling the huge grain cart does it. 120,000 pound grain cart on tracks. Every time you turn the steering wheel on the QT, it is moving the hitch side to side. I'm guessing the sides failed before the top and bottom.
Awesome looking tractor Chet
I've been there. You break something at the wrong time & it doesn't matter what the replacement costs you need it ASAP.
Hey Chet, You and Dougo might need to have an intervention with The Big Swede! That water drinking problem could get out of hand!!!
Oakley has goggles that seal up all around the eyes, they’re also a trusted brand for that the military uses as well.
The comfort is great, they are a little more expensive than the lower brands but the quality is high and the durability is unmatched.
Comes down to how much you need them and what’s important. You get what you pay for!
Dougo does a great job ,great sense of humor and self
I sure do admire the "keep going" attitude you and Dougo have, there are obstacles/problems everyday that could easily cause you to give up but you keep right on going! Very inspiring!
If you think they are impressive go checkout some of the people who work small farms who don't have the credit or money to call for a new tractor when theirs breaks and instead spend the night with a welder and torch fixing it. There's big money new equipment farming and then there's back breaking barely making a living farming. There's no inbetween anymore.
... you give good attitude ...
Best farm channel on you tube period.
Get motorcycle riding glasses they have a soft sponge gasket that forms to your face and they are made to seal against your face better so that when riding wind won’t get in and dry your eyes out.
LOL when in doubt, SEND IT!!! awesome message on window :)
I love stairways on the grain bins boy that beats a ladder any day
From a farm boy that moved to a city job, but then purchased several farm - thanks for the videos. Nikki, you do a great job. Dougo, enjoy your narrative. Chet, you do a great job as well! I watch the different farm youtubers you know, but definitely enjoy yours the most! From Iowa...
Odds are the initial crack happened by a sharp hit of the the trailing wheel in the track maybe a a large pumpkin size rock got turned up just enough by the bogey wheels and then the rear drive hit it starting the crack. Then wear and tear over time weakening the beam itself then finally gave out. Could have started weeks months or more than a year ago. So now it is something you will look for and that is a crack at that point of the track assembly.
cheers chet,yoursdelf,family,and friends,gn
I'm using that busted quad-track as an example in the future that things will still brake no matter how much money you spend on something or how often you do preventive maintenance. Sick of people on the web saying that things like "PMs will prevent breakdowns" and stuff like that.
SOU6900 preventative maintenance has never been about no letting a part or machine break down. Through tracking (RCM for the 10 pound brains) the engineers and the OEM design tasks to keep the machine or part running as long as possible. The extra lubrications/fluid changes keep the machine running at peak performance longer. The inspection tasks are designed to catch a defect before it gets to bad which cost more time and money to repair. As BWM stated Earth reclaims EVERYTHING, eventually.
My point is I'm just sick of people that seem to think stuff breaks down only because it isn't maintained period.
PM's will reduce breakdowns but everything breaks sooner or later even with PM's
@BWM 😆 sorry if it sounded like I took it as criticism, which I didn't btw. Just my foggy brain after having just woke up 😉.
LOVE! the music that Nikki puts in the videos
I would go as it’s metal fatigue probably from date of manufacture and over time flexed enough to break Doug needs ski goggles they are great for sealing around the eyes 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hey Dougo maybe next bin build opt for the stair lift option to get old farmers up to the top - for real!!
Let's see how Case makes good on this defect in front of the UA-cam World!!! Here's your chance to sell a wad of machines Case. Astonish us! The best companies shine in times of distress. This should help them make the future parts much more robust. ??????
On a 10 year plus old tractor?? The second that tile plow was mounted ruined that idea. 🤦♂️🤦♂️
A major assembly cracks?? That's pretty whack. The damn B52 is 50 years old and still flying and it's a lot more sophisticated than a tractor suspension. Especially the rear arm as opposed to the front. JMHO
I get a little excited when something that expensive has a major break on a suspension component. I agree that there should be red flags on that part on other tractors if there was a systemic flaw but we don't have access to that like Case should have. Look at all the Porsche's that had stupid sealed IMS bearings go bad and after the recall only 8% took advantage of it. 7 years -20 years- how do you stress that back roller? The ground pressure is so low that I would think the back arm should rust before it breaks. I don't know.
@@gregjames5070 Sorry, a tile plow isn't a bad load. Most of the time the tractor engine is idling, not delivering full power. A big ripper in frost puts a heavier shock load on the tractor than the tile plow.
For the failure in the dryer control room - the equip is generating so much heat, and since the room is so hot, the equip is really hot, and the likely cause of the failure of the control unit. Hopefully when it cools down it will come back to life, but may be fried. You could put a large van (2' dia would be nice) blowing on both control panels with their doors open that might be enough to keep them cool. Good luck.
The only thing I could imagine being better than watching these videos is actually being there to work.
It never ends. Just to get the rewire done for the new tractor is a big job. Good job Chet.
Keep up the great work guys... from the footage from each of the guys to the editing you all are doing a great job at entertaining us that love equipment and farming
DougO, Have you thought about using ski goggles (clear). Scott makes an excellent goggle that fits the face supper well. Cheers....
I would have welded that track frame up and ran it until the end of the season.
I believe it is aluminum isn't it ? IDK
@BWM a) You can weld cast iron. Check out SiBr. b) It's a weldment. @10:49
It must cost a fortune to have the dealer come out with a truck to pick up the tractor and fix it. $150/hr.
@BWM The broken piece is a weldment. Unless there is a an update to the design the new piece will break just like the old piece. They would have been better off to remove the broken piece and fix it while updating its strength. And do the one on the other side while they are at it, because sooner or later it will break too.
It's funny to watch farmers. On one hand they complain about the price of the product they grow and on the other hand they spend money like crazy on equipment.
@BWM I'll bet that part is $1500. Plus hauling. Plus labor. Do the math.
It broke once, it will break again.
@BWMIt's all good, BWM.
Talking about your driver coming up from Texas and must love driving...... I ran tractor trailers for UPS for 41 years and spent a lot of that time running cross country. Used to run L.A. to Dallas twice a week, 6,000 miles a week. Yeah, I love driving too!
Chet: "Somethings weird going on with the Quadtracks Track, it's sitting weird"
Also Chet: *Continues to load Quadtracks Grain Cart*
Love watching you all Larson farms
Ski goggles, soft foam and wide lenses. LOL at the mirror! Nicole put a lot of Dougo for us right off the bat! “Adjusting!” Haha!
Ui I'm 8ul7
Nice video. Sorry about the track. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊 😀 🙂
You can have that crack analyzed for short money. I'm still amazed at how specific a materials lab can be in identifying the cause of these metal failures. I'll bet my left nut that failure is a manufacturing defect; probably an inclusion (cheap Chinese steel). If possible, let us know what the outcome of this repair is! Pitter Patter! Jim
Whoever said "You can't reinvent the wheel" was correct. Quaids are needed but get expensive real quick if used all the time when not needed.
Don't think you have it bad cuz some people have it a heck of a lot worse than you. Keep it going Chet and Dougo your soon to be done.
It could be raining soup and yinz guys would be standing out there with forks in your hands. This is perhaps the most exciting video yet! Just like a good mystery book; what’s going to happen next? Almost made popcorn. Hope no one tries to hang the quad trac on Erik. He seems as conscientious about equipment as they come. Can’t knock a fella for staying hydrated.
Ya need a slide to get down from the grain bins.
Fire pole.
@@ColtonBlumhagen
Bit risky from that height...besides a slide would be way more fun!!!
Why would you want another of the same make?. Time for a better quality machine.
"Stair Lift Chair" for mobility, but hopped up like a top fuel Dragster💙😲😲😲
Brass Stripper pole!
Dougos rec specs and AcDc's you shook me all night long blaring, guaranteed 500k likes.
That camera shot of the trucks unloading was awesome. It's great to see something only a few people ever see.
Is it odd that I find in the farm vlogs the dads the best part of show? is that just me? lol
3m safety glasses. If you get fog you might have bacteria. They sell boxes that have holders for glasses with uv lamp and a timer. It will sanitize glasses for the next use. And keep spares.
That’s New Quad is Purty though...Would have been Neat to see a JD Quad Hooked Up to that Grain Cart..
3:16 "Well, hello there." Oh man, I laughed so hard! Dougo, you're a natural.
Structural failures tend to be "long in the making" probably a defect from date of production.
Agree.
Agree.
Uh no.
Hi mate, from Australia..
Bad luck on the track frame Breaking..
Will give CASE credit for the newer model quad track, there's a load of redesigning, especially on the track frame as you pointed out..
Stay safe..
@Doc Savage that's interesting what your saying about the issues with the DT 610, we've received delivery of our 1st 2 units and have run some hours up on them already. So far no issues, actually to be honest we're really impressed with the performance so far. My uncle runs these units and has a unit with some 3000+ hours and so far no issues.
Sorry about the breakdown don,t fell alone we had a lot this harvest too
Well, most of the weight is on the tracks on the grain cart.
Le docteur es séchoir Dougo a encore frappé,rien ne lui résiste👍👍👍
Waouh une panne très rare surement sur ce train de chenilles, le remplaçant provisoire est magnifique
Seeing the drastic changes to the tracks makes you wonder if CaseIH really does know why yours failed ;)
Hello, Chet, Dougo and the Big Swed. I don't think you've have not told us or showed what's in the long barn or shed that sits behind the grain bins.
Love the video's keep up the good work and god bless and stay safe.
On a funny note.Dougo needs a chairlift to get to the top of the bins.lol
Chet would just overclock it and it'd spit dougo off at the top!
Just get a ol JD typical tractor and finish the season, rite, kool nice busy Day , a whole lotta things going on thanks BigAl California.
They should take the rent off the purchase price in the end.
@BWM or give them a discount its advertising anyways
"I'm surprised they could even think of selling the thing." -Millennial Farmer, probably
@@padraicfanning7055 whoever buys it at a discount will be laughing, on closer look that easily looks weldable..
Yes,Brent 2096 2000 bush. from 78000 $ year 2014 to 210,000 $ year 2020 on TractorHouse!Thank you.
@@jrh928 I don't think the Millennial Farmer would buy that particular quadtrac - even at a discount. (The Welkers, on the other hand…)
Epic intro vid. Very nice. Congrats on the harvest. - Eric
Its just a broken track, cant be that hard to fix.
The dealer should just put an track from a used Quadtrac on yours so you can get it back ASAP.
Try Motorcycle goggles. Lots of different types and styles on Amazon and Ebay. You might do ok with ski goggles too. They even make ski goggles with little fans to help eliminate the sweat/moissture. Good luck.
Check out some street motorcycle goggles.
They're designed not to let air in.
MOTORCROSS
@@Eric-mt1jn
Dont need em that big!! Then he'd look like Cole the Cornstar.
But they would work.
The choice of music in the video was awesome!
Whatever you do dont get an rx deere.... they're gutless nightmares....a 580 case will work circles around our 620rx
Nothing new.. but you can't tell the Green freaks that... what happened to the 2-track being superior. 😉
All of guys are doing a great job!!🚜👍👍
When the swede breaks something he really breaks it!!
Great video Larson family thanks for all the editing Nicole
My guess is the metal had an issue from manufacturing that slowly cracked.
which would mean it may be covered by warranty, or even goodwill on the manuf. part. That why inspection and "wal k around' is so important. you notice things. My uncle has every welding ticket known to man, and would be certified to repair frame work, and sign off on it. but you have to find it first!!!
Hi there i like how fun these videos are. U keep saying how u are always short on fuel in the field. U should get a fuel trailer like The Millennial farmer The thunder fuel trailer and haul it behind the service truck!!!!
Dewalt makes a nice pair of goggles
As a commercial gas engineer, I can tell you the big aluminium part on top of the gas valve is a actuator and modulates the gas depending on temperature, I would get the service engineer to check the valve as if its not modulating correctly it could light at 100% and go bang.
Seen those broke before on quad track
Chet I think the tile plow is the problem it’s not that it’s a heavy unit it’s when you pull the plow it’s pull itself and the tractor towards the ground putting lots of pressure on the rear end/track assembly
That’s Marine one. The new Case looks Bad to the bone.
Sorry for your Monday on a Tuesday....all of you had challenges. I must say you all cracked me up. Thanks from a City girl enjoying your farm life.
It's becoming obvious that Nicole is the brains of this outfit.
How so?
Yeah what's makes you think that
Sorry your quad track broke down. Never fails that it happens at harvest time. Glad you could get a tractor to fill in until yours is fixed. Never seen one brake like that. Quads are usually very good at not braking down. The work on the dryer was interesting. I am getting from your videos that the dryers take a lot of looking after. Interesting how you adjust the heat level. Appreciate you showing us those issues and your fixes. Do not know anything better on goggles than what you have on. Brake downs reality make a hole in the day that is for sure. Really enjoyed this video. Was a lot on it. Put together by Nicki-ya!! Will be waiting for the next one. Thanks. Iowa farm boy from years ago.
Just throw on some flex tape chet you'll be good until you get another Tractor
The best glasses you can buy are the Harley Davidson goggles they have a quarter inch of foam around the lenses
If it were not for bad luck with your equipment you would not have any luck at all. Corn is cheap and you have a big costly repair coming Looks like peanut butter and toast for the rest of the winter for meals. 😢
The combines are harvesting 5,000 bu/hr x $3.25... I'm sure they'll find a way to pay for it.
Corn had better come up in price soon...China has lost approximately 70% of its agricultural production due to flooding.
Their corn production was down 35% last year.
Grain prices are being manipulated (IMF? National ag agencies?) prevent food shortage panic.
It's coming...
Some are estimating nearly 100% food inflation by end of year.
Australia will be out of rice in less than a month. They contracted with Vietnam to make up their DOMESTIC shortage.
Vietnam reneged on contract...they're ceasing export.
They don't have enough for themselves.
US and perhaps Brazil will be the only countries exporting.
Grand Solar Minimum is upon us.
Sun's electromagnetic radiation will continue to diminish throughout the decade, before slowly increasing back to normal over the next 40-60 years.
Temperatures shouldn't decline that much; but growing seasons will be shortened.
Mid-east has been receiving "2500 year" rainfall. The "Fertile Crescent" is back.
You need to get PAID MORE NOW.
@@SomeTechGuy666 the problem is they have 3.50 in growing a bushel.
@@SwitchRod
No grain shortage over here in Australia
We're looking at an average year over in the west and over east theyre having the first year out of drought for some time
So our over all country production will be double precious years
Remember we have almost no local processing so it'll all be hitting the export market
I wouldn't be reading too much into the Chinese floods either
We farm corn across the border in Russia as well
The damage from 3 tyhoons was quite bad but its held better than expected
Itll still be harvest able with maybe a 30% loss
The real unknown is North Korea
They copped the brunt of the damage but no one will say publicly what damage they have
But they wouldn't import anyway they'll just let the population starve like usual
Case will take care of it. I would be very surprised if they pay any rental fees. That would be a PR nightmare if they don't. Case has a chance to truly enhance brand value.
ನಿಮ್ಮ ಕೃಷಿ ಯಂತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ರೆ ಆಶ್ಚಾರ್ಯ ಆಗುತ್ತೆ 👌
Next episode Douggie melts down a grain drier after bypassing the gas valves...
Case should let you run the new stuff for free. Advertisement/ Review with Chet, Dougo and the Big Swede is better than anything out there.
you used that case to plow down some pipes. right? that is way harder than that grain cart
We've got the part in our warehouse, just have your dealer work through the parts ordering process, if they don't have them in the PDC, we'll get the order as a machine down, will ship the same day. If you need it same day we can make it happen with our Blue Bullet service, Fargo is not far from ya.
Swimming goggles might work they don't let water in so they shouldn't let in air maybe... but I'm sure you done tried them first
Cooling needs - checkout Mr Cool DIY mini split units. They use less power and depending on the size unit you get it will turn that room into a freezer.
"well hello there" had me laughing hard HAHAHA
Local sporting goods store should have the goggles Mr. Dougo, like below orange or yellow tint.
Go to a Harley dealership or other motorcycle shop, should be able to find goggles there.
Great content! Excellent editing.I could watch these video's all day long.Stay blessed Larson Family.
