- (Visit: www.uctv.tv/) Los Angeles attorney Paul Morantz has devoted his professional life to fighting cults. But in the late 1970s that life almost came to an abrupt end when one of the cults he litigated against planted a live rattlesnake in his mailbox. Morantz speaks with California Lawyer editor Martin Lasden about his career and the dangers he faced. Series: "Legally Speaking" [1/2013] [Public Affairs] [Show ID: 24671]
What's most intriguing, and shrewd, about what Paul has said-and hasn't-is that we are literally, all of us, bathing in these programs, but are largely unaware of it.
Don't have time to watch this now, but if I'm hearing you correctly - yes, these ideas have shaped the very way we view ourselves today. And no one knows it.
Do you care to explain?
@@mariaquiet6211 We have being taking small step to being programing by some group.
Mr. Morantz is a hero and an inspiration. He started work that needs to be continued. Unfortunately, the spectre of Synanon survives in the form of abusive treatment centers across the country, to this day.
What a brave man. Thank you Mr. Morantz.
Just finished watching Oxygen’s Deadly Cults episode about him and Synanon. Can’t wait to buy his book now!
rest in Power Paul, thank you for your struggles and sacrifices.
An incredible story. Thank you Paul, I look forward to reading your book soon.
It's worse now that they're mixed into respectable roles and have state bar licenses and local authority and influence. They don't look cultish. That's their kicker. As ND multiple layers of fake protect the character who, actually, is the creepy, against common reason kind.
Amazon says the book is out of print, although the entire book seems to be available under their 'preview' feature. I'd love to get the book. A Kindle version would be perfect :) Anyway, thank you, Paul Morantz, for all the good work you've done fighting and exposing destructive cults.
Currently reading Mr. Morantz's book, "From Miracle to Madness" about Synanon. It is very engrossing and thorough. Recommend it completely.
Wow! So informative and interesting. Religious cults can do so much harm!
@I. Wynn Wynn No it doesn't. Mad people do
Paul you are a hero
looking forward to reading his book. what an interesting career/life
career?????????? what career dear?.......he writes like a 15 year old
"...the only cure is that no one ever leaves." This is so true...for many insular organizations.
There old be no dark without the light & Paul is the light - will surely read his book - thanks for the video - only if soldiers were fighting the same war - lithe world would surely be a better place! Peace
thank you paul morantz
Excellent, thank you.
I went to a Synanon type place in NYC about 10yrs ago. It was intense! But it did in many ways save my life.
Thanks !
Synanon "...like Nazis." A great tale about which more needs to be told. Congrats to Paul Morantz.
who wrote "the true believer"?? eric hoffer??
Yes, Eric Hoffer.
Reminiscent to Scientology...
Synanon developed their business model after Scientology.
in college i went to square games they laughed at us .and said you think you are hip?? "you nothin' but hippies".sandiego state 1964-5.....more. then kairos.... then reading yablonsky's "the tunnel bank" the book read very well, i never met dietrich i know a saying attributed to him ,meaning he said it all the time i heard,"power corrupts absolute power corrupts absolutely"
he was smart he started of well but lost it on the way.......seems he ran into his own words didn't he?
what a shame for Synnanon....i just hate vultures like paul making a life and money for themselves off of this.
Charles Dederich was a friend of Cesar Chavez. Two cult leaders.
