I just started iRacing 3 months ago. Got out of rookies after 4 races. Went to move up into D license races and realized that I could only race in one of the open wheel events unless I bought more tracks and cars. Had the, "Ah, so THAT'S how this works..." realization. Still haven't bought anything else, and pretty easy to see how people get trapped into spending all the money they do on it. I don't dislike iRacing, but for the pricing model, I expect far more than what is actually being given in 2024.
Because of everyone raving about the rain, I re-upped my long dormant iRacing sub (had it since 2008 but almost never activate)....tried again in both wet and dry conditions, bought Nordschleife and a Ferrari 296 GT3. The rain was pretty sweet. And it honestly may be the only GREAT part about iRacing. Reintroducing myself to the online behaviors and more importantly the absolutely asinine grip curves of the tires, shortly had me deciding to end auto-renewal AGAIN and head back to LMU, AMS2, ACC and even WRC. The great things about iRacing are: "it just works". (FFB, Configuration, multiplayer lobbies, etc), the new rain model, and the sheer # of racers online at any given time. After that, I really have nothing wonderful to say about it. I was told by another iRacing UA-camr that of COURSE I could expect bad driving in the rookie series. That's always the insinuation: if only you'd spend a ton of money and time ranking up, you'd eventually find heaven. Pretty sure your experience in this video proves that dead wrong, but by the time you realize you've been had, you're into this service for hundreds of dollars or more, and now you just HAVE to defend it because to abandon it would mean you are admitting to poor judgment and poor use of your money. It wouldn't be so bad if iRacing wasn't a) so stupid-expensive and b) had devs that actually paid attention to their competition and LISTENED to users instead of adopting the "we know what's good for you, and if it's not prohibitively difficult/impossible to drive near the limit, it isn't real". The need to take pride in difficulty for its own sake in order to form a cadre of elitist snobs who will defend you to the death is really just icing on the cake. Very happy to be spending many happy hours in competing sims that actually give a flyin' crap about vehicle handling at the limit.
I'm sorry but your comment is clearly a skill issue , real race drivers use iracing and its very clearly the best online racing simulator , you simply need to learn how to drive I made the mistake of thinking that other simulators like RF2/AC/LMU were realistic but in reality they are far to forgiving and simcade which is why I find them easer to drive. Frankly I think your comment is disgusting and really shows off the hate and vitriol that iracers have to put up with every day.

I must add, the real racer who sings the highest praises about iRacing is Daniel Morad, whom I respect as a 2-time Daytona winner. But when you drill in, it ultimately comes down to braking with him....and that's it. He really doesn't have much to say about the tire model, the quality (or lack thereof) of the opponents on iRacing, etc. Every single iRacing-love post comes down to "brakes are closest to my GT3". Maybe he doesn't realize it's just....sad..if all you've got is the braking feel and nothing more. I guess LMU/AC/AMS2 just need to work on the threshold braking?

Driving wise the tire model is the same rip off from nascar 2003 which is quite funny. if real tires were like iracing ones we would have decimated field in motorsport ahaha. in other hands rain is nicely done.
@@myronianny That's just it, because the tires fall off a cliff at certain slip angles,, anyone who is pushing it can expect to spin out and cause accidents and mayhem, leading to the kinds of videos we see. Some people have terrible racecraft, but even those that don't are just one push away from causing massive wrecks because they couldn't catch and recover. The service would be so much better if iRacing could swallow their pride and make a tire model that behaved more like a real one. Btw, one of those pro drivers is an IndyCar champion who has stated emphatically that he can hustle an indycar around a real track in a way that cannot be done in iRacing, but I guess his opinion doesn't count.
Thanks to the most dedicated iRacers for all your reasonable comments and tight logic that has made me realise how wrong I have been all this time. Obviously you get crashes in all racing games , it would be unfair to suggest that iRacing is any worse in this regard due to its very well designed car contacts , Netcode smoothing and hands off approach to moderation.

Every time I have a T1 pileup because of a zealous (but justified) late braking or being taken out by a completely incompetent (but justified) spin in front of me, I take a moment to appreciate the completely reasonable contact model and netcode of iRacing. Being towed back to the pits gives me time to ponder all of my transgressions, like when I brake 2 inches too late, or when I try to push my car .1% over the limit. Waiting for the 15 minutes of required repairs allows me to repent for my sins of questioning the tire model, as I should know better than counter-steering a slide does not work, and only sends the car into a spinning fury. Thank you GM. Praise iRacing.
You should be iAshamed of your iTransgressions. Having never played this game but seen tons of video footage, I don't see what the iProblem is here. The game looks like a absolute gift from the 90's that keeps on giving! You need to learn to duck, cover and roll out on the track. True iChampions understand this and make it a part of their daily training regimen! i was a iRacing racer for a year. got to B SR. Got fed up with the game and tried Asseto Corsa on LFM servers. I am Stoked. I tryed i racing this week again. ther is no chance whatsoever of comming back to iRacing. the Tire Model the physics and the force feedback of Asseto Corsa ara spot On. iRacing is BShit!
I tried Iracing a couple of months ago and I was honestly shocked by how bad it is. It feels like you are setting up a boat that just does its thing and don't you dare enter the corner with 1% to much break pressure or the physics simulation will let you hear about it by making you over and understeer at the same time uncontrollably for the next 100m and no thats not realistic. IRL and in other sims you actually have to drive the car, feel the grip, shift balance and modulate your inputs. Saying Iracing is the best sim is laughable.
I tried iRacing a couple of times, the onboarding was a bit painful & it cost me an arm and a leg. But it ran great and once I got it all setup I'm glad to report I had a thoroughly miserable time.
IRacings perfection is demonstrated in the bouncing and hoping, sometimes invisible racers. The realism this brings to the racing is unlike any other simulator. How dare you criticise sim racing perfection!
What a lot of people don't realise about sim racing, is that you have to race the titles you like the best. There are so many sims out there, all with their own very distinctive characteristics. If you look at each, each will have flaws but the trick is to pick which one you enjoy playing and keep playing it. That is all you need to know. Life is too short to play a game you don't like just because everyone else says you should.

Was an "A", got punted down to "C" due to ridiculousness and to be honest rage quitting. Just worked my way back to a "B". My first 2 races in "B" class (Super Formula) I started one from mid-pack, and the other from the back (intentionally) but with two cars behind. Long story short, I got wrecked from behind in both in a way I could not have done anything to save myself either time. Pity, I liked the car. But iRacing makes me want to gouge my eyes out.
I have 4500ir A licence now , This is the glory of the top split , i racing produces this entertainment in all splits and even more so with any car that has close driving. MX5,FF,FV,F4,SFL
Well for me IRacing maybe a great online racing venue but two things hold me back from investing in this game. First, which we all know, the subscription cost (monthly yearly) I do not want to do. I would rather do a one time buy of a STEAM game and be done with it. Also buying new content can be costly if wanting to do series racing. Second, I just don't have the dedicated time to try and get good in IRacing. I did have allot of Fun Online racing when NR2003 was active and the Sierra Servers were FREE to race on. IRacing is developing a PC Nascar game for the year 2025, so I will wait and see if this game comes close to what Papyrus NR2003 provided. I still have NR2003 on my computer and play this game from time to time. Take care.
You should be greatfull to be able to support a developer monthly and celebrate there accuret recreation of simulating the real cost of motorsport. There realisum specifcally the handling at the limit is why you will find it so hard to "get good" at iracing , this is just a skill issue and you should not ask them to lower the dificulty just to make the game accomodating , everybody knows that to drive a race car within 5 seconds of track pace requires one to have the skills of an F1 driver.
Not sure why so many people are emotionally tied to the idea that iracing is this perfect simulation. Regurgitating the gospel while having little to no real world experience. The fact is no game is a perfect sim and it doesnt have to be, its okay that the physics have their limits. Once those desperate disciples accept this we can have sim harmony.

Was an "A", got punted down to "C" due to ridiculousness and to be honest rage quitting. Just worked my way back to a "B". My first 2 races in "B" class (Super Formula) I started one from mid-pack, and the other from the back (intentionally) but with two cars behind. Long story short, I got wrecked from behind in both in a way I could not have done anything to save myself either time. Pity, I liked the car. But iRacing makes me want to gouge my eyes out.

I have 4500ir A licence now , This is the glory of the top split , i racing produces this entertainment in all splits and even more so with any car that has close driving. MX5,FF,FV,F4,SFL

There’s something about this that doesn’t feel genuine, I can’t quite put my finger on it. 😂
Well for me IRacing maybe a great online racing venue but two things hold me back from investing in this game.
First, which we all know, the subscription cost (monthly yearly) I do not want to do. I would rather do a one time buy of a STEAM game and be done with it. Also buying new content can be costly if wanting to do series racing.
Second, I just don't have the dedicated time to try and get good in IRacing. I did have allot of Fun Online racing when NR2003 was active and the Sierra Servers were FREE to race on.
IRacing is developing a PC Nascar game for the year 2025, so I will wait and see if this game comes close to what Papyrus NR2003 provided. I still have NR2003 on my computer and play this game from time to time.

You should be greatfull to be able to support a developer monthly and celebrate there accuret recreation of simulating the real cost of motorsport.
There realisum specifcally the handling at the limit is why you will find it so hard to "get good" at iracing , this is just a skill issue and you should not ask them to lower the dificulty just to make the game accomodating , everybody knows that to drive a race car within 5 seconds of track pace requires one to have the skills of an F1 driver.

Not sure why so many people are emotionally tied to the idea that iracing is this perfect simulation. Regurgitating the gospel while having little to no real world experience. The fact is no game is a perfect sim and it doesnt have to be, its okay that the physics have their limits. Once those desperate disciples accept this we can have sim harmony.
LOL!!!!!! Again, watching the drivers in this clip, That is why I don't waste my money on IRacing. I will stick with my other STEAM Racing games, thank you.
