Great help. My daughters messed up the SIM reader (it's a micro and T-mobile has a nano - you need an adapter). I ordered two for their Motorola XT-1540, got it in two days. Followed the instructions (the disconnection of the screen=LCD was a little hard to follow) and replaced the SIM+MicroSD reader. Now instead of two pieces of malfunctioning electronics my girls have their phones back. Thanks for the great Video.
Thanks for the overview. One recommendation for those replacing the screen. go ahead and take off the main board. It is difficult to reconnect the screen cable. i tried for 30 minutes to get it. Once I took off the main board, the connector for the screen comes off very easy. Take it off, connect it to the screen cable and then reconnect back to the main board. Would have saved myself over half an hour. Good luck and take your time as you work with the heat gun.
I found I was able to reconnect the screen cable with the board still attached to the phone, but it was kind of tricky. It helped to put the phone backside-down on a flat table, and then bring your eye level down to the level of the table, and from there you can hold the screen just above and use a finger to slide the connector in. Might be useful to get someone else to hold the phone down so it doesn't move while you re-attach the screen. It's a PIA but it works and didn't take more than 5 mins.
thanks alot for the video i just bought this phone only had it two weeks dropped it A SINGLE TIME and it would not turn on. I figured it was a poor connection i proceeded to repair and could not figure out how to get inside once inside i found the battery connection had come loose remade the connection phone works normal and this is after throwing across the room several times full throw into the wall :) needless to say i was pissed but all is well now thanks!
hoodaly ya, they keep making them smaller and using up less of the circuit boards as they go. It's more cleaner but the smaller they get, harder to replace individual parts on the board itself.
hey my phone blank out on me and never came back on, does not want to charge or reboot and I really want to keep my information I don't wanna reset it. is there any other way if my battery died?
BRO MY GRANDMA AND GRANDPA HAD THIS PHONE XD, bringa back good memories when me and my sister borrowed their phones, it was a good phone honestly, i also remember that the back plate fell all the time
After dropping my motorola moto g 3rd gen there was no sound coming from the speaker at all! I've removed the back case and only seen a few screws by the charger port and by watching this video it helped me locate the speaker and simply pressing hard on both sides from the screen and at the back, it must have been a lose connection or something because it's working again. Thanks 😃
Thank you for your video. I removed the screen but I need new seals and rubber under the display and speaker and mic cover - the one that I ordered arrived without it. Is there any way to buy it? Do you have any tips? Thank you

I find voice call quality is not that good and thought it might be a separate earpiece speaker problem - if the phone only has one speaker than it looks like poor audio voice call quality may be entirely due to signal quality. ( The speaker appears ok for non voice call usage) GH
we didn't use any extra glue, we just reheated the original adhesive. It all depends on how your adhesive is holding, if it has too much dust n debris on it, it wont hold as well and would require you to apply new adhesive. If you are worried, its always best to apply new adhesive to ensure a strong hold.
great video! Thanks for sharing! You mentioned that you can take out the battery, but did you actually try doing this? Does it damage anything else? Could the same battery be removed and put back in without damaging it (I would use a new battery of course but just want to understand what it takes to get it out and back in again)? Thanks!
+LOOregano Thanks, If you look in the video next to the battery there are some gold colored screws, if I'm not mistaken taking those off will release the aluminum frame the battery sits in which is attached to the back housing. I'm pretty sure the battery also has adhesive on the back of it that keeps it attached to the aluminum frame. You would definitely be able to remove the same battery without damaging it and reuse it. You would just need to be careful when prying it off that you apply some heat beforehand to make it pry off easier so you don't bend/warp the battery too much to damage it. :)
if the original adhesive around the inside of the frame is still good you can reuse it but if you want to ensure a good bond, you will need to reapply new adhesive/tape
just one more question, you know how in the video you are showing how to replace the led. what if I only want to replace the front glass screen , is there a different tutorial for that, thanks
you would need to replace the entire LCD assembly with touch glass. they are fused together and would require special tools n skills to separate and replace only the glass.
And the last question is, how about water resistancy after reassembling the phone? I mean the adhesive thing, will it provide some waterproofness after re-heating?
+Matthew Wsky I don't know what temp we used, but you can use a hair dryer if you don't have a heat gun, and also the usb port does not require any soldering.
Good evening. My phone got wet and the screen has gone unresponsive most of the time and it touches itself. II did a factory reset and now the phone boots by itself three times before eorking everytime i try to turn it on. Should i just replace the LCD to get it working again or should i buy consider buying a new one? Thanks for the video!
+Conrado Peñaloza You should take it apart and use a tooth brush or soft brush to clean out any corrosion on the connectors or main board that might be shorting the phone.
well if you use a blow dryer/hair dryer there really is no temp you can adjust. You just heat it up to a point that you can tell the screen is hot to the touch. You dont want to heat it up too much and make sure you aren't holding the blow dryer/hair dryer in the same spot. Circle it around and gradually heat it up. Then you can try prying it up gently. If you see its too hard you can apply more heat and keep going. Excess heat will either make the glass too brittle and break when prying off or will melt off the digitizer glue and separate it from the screen or just damage the part in general. Thats why I suggest a blow dryer/hair dryer instead of a heat gun because less chance of causing damage if you don't know how to properly use the heat gun and temps.
Can I put a thin grille of the two holes? And what i can use? I accidentally broke the small clear plastic and just want to put a normal protective grille on holes for speakers. I must say that I do not care that will remain waterproof :)) Too much dust is collected and should be regularly clean. Is there enough space between the display and the phone's body?
+Niki Letov I'm not sure what your trying to do exactly, but you can try searching for mesh grills or mesh filters etc. However I'm sure they will start releasing replacement parts on ebay and such so you would be able to find the original soon.
+pwrdbykyank thanks for the reply. I do not like the original nylon waterproof thing. That's why I want to put some grill/mesh grill ...yep. i think I found a solution-will cut from "Shaver Razor Replacement Foil For BRAUN"-found on ebay. sorry for my bad english :)
If your adhesive isn't holding well anymore, yes you will need to apply new adhesive. You can use smartphone Red tape which is sold on ebay. Its a strong adhesive tape you can cut to size .
Hi, Sorry for being repetitive, but i made by accident a smal hole in the top skeaper, the one used to calls, can you explain if that would kill my phone if it gets wet?
Yeah, that thin, horrid film is a real PITA. If it's that easily broken (like mine) it seems you can also easily get a non "water resist" G3 in a hurry, turning it into a senseless feature, because just replacing that PITA of a thin film is also a PITA of a darn process. And then, that PITA film can be easily broken. Again. So I'm thinking on just leave it alone... or replace that film with something else and turn my G3 into a full ordinary, non semi-water tight phone... or not bother at all and simply get rid of the whole device. Yeah, I'm really that pissed off. Sorry. Quite happily, I still have my (better built) G2...
+Sconeikiin look online on ebay or so forth for those black 3m adhesives if you can find them, those would be the best to use. If not I'd say any thin 3m adhesive will work fine.
Thanks! I didn't break my phone's screen, but it's nice to know now i don't need to worry how to fix it, because now i know how to fix it just incase :)
+Fay Isn't working as in its not clicking or it clicks but just doesnt do anything? Or is the button jammed? The clicker is soldered onto the main board so you would need soldering skills to install a new one. If the button is jammed you would need to disassemble the phone to un-jam it
I really appreciated this video. My speaker was cutting out and I learned from another site that there were two prongs that needed bending upward to tighten the connection. This video helped me get to the offending prongs and all is working. A couple of points though - I used a Torx T5 driver not T4 as mentioned here. Could not find T4. Also one corner of the screen did not glue back down properly when I replaced it and I can see light inside the device . There was very little adhesive there in the first place. What sort of adhesive can I use to seal the screen piece?
I personally dislike phones where you cannot access the battery readily. Whilst I understand they did this so the phone would be waterproof but i rarely ever have my phone near water so i would rather they made a version where the phone is not waterproof and has easy access to the battery.
The worst is when you need to remove the screen to replace the damn battery -_- it's one thing if it's like my old Nexus that you just removed two screws and pry the back off and you're done, but even then, like why not just cut a freaking hole in the back and slap a back plate on
Really nice guide, camera quality, not the best, but that's understandable since you are not a really big channel. Might want to consider placing son light music in the background is not really nice to hear all the background noise.
I removed my SIM card from my Moto G and it broke off one of the 4 connector pins, you mentioned that the part is removable but didn't show it. Just to be clear, I can order in one of those parts once they're available and repair it?
+Jake VanBuschbach I also accidentally removed a connector trying to remove a SIM card.. Is this not a construction fault by Motorola? See also:www.reddit.com/r/mobilerepair/comments/3hov0x/broken_sim_connector_3_day_old_moto_g_2015/ which describe a simiar incident.. I have never had a phone where the SIM card is so difficult to work with. I talked to Motorola, and the company I boght the phone from, and they both say that there is no warranty... Breaking a brand new phone simple by changing SIM card should not cause so many problems...
+Jake VanBuschbach Yea it will be replaceable, its a mini board connected over the main board, so that mini board containing the sim slot and micro sd is removable/replaceable. It has I believe 3 screws holding it down in place, you remove those and pull off the connector. If I were you I would try calling motorola and arguing that it was a manufacture defect due to the fact that all you did is take your sim out and that happened, see if they would honor it. I know someone else mentioned motorola didn't honor it for them but usually they should, and if not they will offer you a repair solution and give you an estimate of the price of repair.
+Thomas Mejer Hansen Have you tried talking to another rep at moto? Also they usually provide a repair option and cost if they deem it not covered under warranty.
hello, i accidentally made a rupture in the plastic-like coverage of the top speaker. I was wondering if my phone is still waterproof. it seems like the bottom speaker hole doesn't have a plastic coverage, but a see through grid. so maybe either the rip in de upper speaker also doesn't affect the water resistance of the phone. but I don't know much about phones so maybe you can help. thank you in advance!!
Hi, thanks for the reply. There are no replacement gaskets on eBay jet. And I'm afraid that when I open my phone, to repair it, it won't be water resistant anymore. But thanks for helping!! :)
hey,,,my moto g turbo also doesnt have any plastic coverage in the bottom speaker hole,,,,but upper speaker has it,,,,Could anyone confirm if it normal.
Can the charge port be replaced without tearing down the whole phone? Mine is loose and I'd like to replace it, but not if I've got to take the whole thing apart.
Hi you can find it on ebay, search for moto g3 lcd flex and you will see it. And yes its easily replaceable. You just peel that yellow/orange sticker off the cable, left up the black lock in the side of the connector, pull out the old cable and insert the new cable to the motherboard slot, push down the black lock and put the yellow/orange sticker back over.
Dear friends, i read through many of the commentaries but i'm not secure of the answer to my question: I need to switch the headphone jack, so i'll proceed just like the video so i can open the back and switch it. I'll lose the "water-safe"ness of the phone on the process, right? If so, how can i make it water-safe again? Is putting some new adhesive tape where you cut at 7:30 enough? I'm a little confused. Thanks for the attention!
My phone get wet. After six days it worked again. All seems to be right till I found that vibrator dosen't work any more. Where is the vibrator motor in the mother board? Its changable?. Another question: What temperature do you use in the heat gun to take off the screen?
Hi, the vibrator motor is right above the LCD connector on the back side of the mother board. If I remember correctly its soldered onto the board but is replaceable. Maybe it just has corrosion on it, you can brush it off and should work again. I'm not sure on the temp, but you can always use a hair dryer to heat it up
I need help. I hope you will reply. My phone fell by accident hitting a wall on the way down. All of a sudden I lost sound. I smacked my phone and the sound came back. The sound had stopped a few occasions and I took my case phone case off and hit and then the sound was fine for a good while. Recently it stopped working due to me gently throwing the phone on my couch but this time the sound wasn't coming back when I smacked my phone. So I took the cover off and smacked it. I learned that smacking my phone where the three screws were (where you said the charging port was held) was were the sound issue was happening. Tapping that area made the sound come back and holding it for a bit then letting go seems to bring back the sound and it doesnt go back to no sound. My question is if I tighten the area with the 3 screws will this permanently fix the problem or would I have to open it all up and see if the speakers wires etc are disconnected. I don't want to put my drop my phone gently on something soft like a couch or bed and the sound goes back off again. By the way can you recommend a good screw driver to open my phone if need be.
Shade On A Cool Day hi yes it you tighten those screws it should help fix it since the contacts that touch the speaker to give it power are on the back housing. If it doesnt fix it, then maybe the speaker is going bad and need to be replaced. As for tool to use, husky brand has torx screw driver set you can use or different brands as well. T4 or T5 would be used for this phone
@pwrdbykyank Thanks. If you want some interesting youtube channels to watch check out the channels Vrillex and Black Child. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway I just find them interesting.
+Anurag Choudhary I did the same and had the same question. It is a pretty bad design. It makes no sense to put such a delicate screen where users will eventually reach for cleaning the ear piece.
I bought the Moto G Turbo Edition (the G3 on steroids). Unfortunately I used it to goof around in a pool and then water came inside the phone (I swear the back cover was correctly closed). Then what appears to be the touch component started to malfunction (like if the screen was pressing itself...like possesed by a demon, seriusly). I thought it would pass away with time but now it doesnt work, it doesnt even charge, howewer it looks like it can ve saved. What do you recommend me to do?
Jimmy Ramos best bet is to take it apart and use a toothbrush to brush off all the corrosion around connectors and chips. Then put phone back together and see if it will work.
it will still stick without it just won't be as good of a bond as before as long as you don't damage to adhesive too much by touching it and getting it dirty etc.
+Jitendra Raghuwanshi ya the adhesive is strong it will hold just put the LCD back onto the frame and reheat it a bit and put some pressure to ensure it makes a good bond
Oh, greath :) And one more question, Can I get a warm adhesive directly when the screen is removed and then back the screen? It seems to me that this is a better way to heat adhesive, but I am a beginner, don't know if that is possible... Thanks a lot for fast answer, and for greath video too ;)
I need to replace sim reader, and procedure is this: 1.Heat the glass 2.Remove the screen, then take off flat cable 3.Remove the motherboard 4.Take off battery connector 5.Replace sim reader 6.Connect battery cable 7.Screw the motherboard 8.Connect flat cable for lcd and return the lcd 9.Heat again to reactivate adhesive 10.Done And, can I first do point 9. and then point 8., i.e. 1.,2.,3.,...,7.Screw the motherboard 8.Heat again to reactivate adhesive directly (before putting back the screen) 9.And then connect lcd flact cable and put back the screen I'm sorry for my bad english :)
+Luke Stranksmufc The glass is only changeable by a professional with the right tools and machines. Or else it will be a micky mouse job and touch wont work right, dust under lens etc. Your best bet is to just replace the entire lcd assembly.
FubarMike if you reapply the adhesive with heat or replace the adhesive with a new one I don't see why not. It didn't have any special seal to completely prevent water from going inside so I'm assuming they have some special coating over the chips and board and that the shields over the chips are better at keeping water out.
Ya the 'x' is because its not dust proof. But the 7 means it is waterproof upto 1m depth. Ive tested it is waterproof. I was just wondering if it remains waterproof after screen replacement.
hello friend , after screen replacement , the mobile won't be waterproof anymore , but now there is machine to make mobile waterproof again , any question , welcome for inquiry ! : )
+Raymond Zhao If you replace the adhesive with new one or if you make sure you dont dirty the adhesive much and reapply it firmly with heat, I don't see why it wont hold out water.
Is the audio jack even replaceable? It looks like it's just stuck in there, and not really removable. I don't think I'll be doing all this for just a bad audio jack either way but such a stupid reason for needing a new phone. Mine keeps having issues where it doesn't register that headphones are attached. And when it does and I get to listen to music it then goes to pausing the music because it thinks the headphones were unplugged. Next phone I get I'm going to look into how repair friendly the phone is, because this is way too involved to be worth it for a cheap part.
Good to know thanks. I've been wanting to upgrade phones for a while now so might do so when i have the funds. 1gb of ram doesn't cut it and most of the time even just typing on my keyboard is really laggy. Can't afford it now so it's good to know its fixable.
The assembly of this phone is it's only real con. great all around for 200 bucks. I mean the screen resolution and the battery size only give you a longer lasting battery, but as that degrades over time it kind of kills the longevity. The G4 battery us an easy swap abd I mean the iPhone battery isn't as hard to get to by far. But given how good the battery is you can probably go two years and still get a better battery life than most flagships
I'm not 100% sure but I would lean toward that it would still be sufficiently safe. If it bothers you though, you should open and replace it with a new mesh
my headphone socket seems blocked/ broke it won't accept headphone jack can't see any blockages can this be easily looked at without tearing the whole phone apart sorry if this is a silly question
Reading some reviews about supposedly waterproof phones or photo cameras, there's always some people whose device died when used underwater, and (depending on manufacturer) often denied warranty because of "water damage"! On the other hand, I've used my Garmin Montana waterproof GPSr while riding a motorbike in tropical rains for years, washed it with soap and water under the tap, for 5 years already, with no ill effects. Recently had to disassemble it to replace the body (rubber coating is crumbling after all these years in hot and humid tropics), and it's quite impressive how big effort they put into waterproofing. Double-lip silicone seals, all the ports are sealed/potted with some hard clear compound. Of course, that makes it a real pain in the ass to service!
Basically the part of the phone where you connect your headphones is giving problems(only one side of my headphones for) so I wanted to replace it so........ Is it possible cause you didn't say anything about that?
madam I have one doubt how to change menu of Moto g3 plz reply for me plz this is my first mobile moto g3 and I'm big fan of moto so plz reply for this I hope u reply me Tq
Probably the gold contacts behind them either have gotten dirty or bent down a bit so its not making a solid connection. You would need to take the phone apart to be able to get access to where the flash is and the contacts to make sure its cleaned out and properly making a connection. Not sure if its worth risking taking the screen off for just the flash issue etc. if accidentally it cracks and the fact you will need to re apply new adhesive. But its up to you. If your careful its doable.
I took my Moto G3 to get the SIM card reader replaced and when I went to pick my phone I noticed that the ear-speaker and the mic weren't working. I couldn't hear while in phone calls and people couldn't hear me either. Only the main speaker worked but that is useless if I can't make calls or record audios in whatsapp. So I took my phone back to the service center and the man told me that the SIM card reader pops out of its place (that doesn't sound possible because there are some screws that prevent that popping) and that the sound isn't working because the same SIM card reader is connected to the "sound card" (if that exists). Could you help me verify this info he gave me? I don't want to be fooled, and if he broke my phone more than it was (it only had the sim card problem) he's gonna have to pay for it.
Hi, I'm not too sure on that, I haven't ever herd of that sim reader board being the issue for something like that though. Also the mic and speaker are located two different places so the chances of them damaging something related to both of them would be small. Maybe they forgot to put in the earpiece again? or maybe your headphone jack might be bad. Hard to tell can be a lot of things causing it.
pwrdbykyank I went to the service center today for nothing. The man hasn't figured out a way to place the reader without it popping back out, he said that the pins are smaller than the ones from the original resder. He also said that in the module there are some contacts that connect the mic and speaker. Is that true?
Hmm not too sure, its possible but I haven't worked much on these phones to know more about that. Can't they just get another reader board from elsewhere? maybe finding a parts or repair phone on ebay and taking it off one?
Great help. My daughters messed up the SIM reader (it's a micro and T-mobile has a nano - you need an adapter). I ordered two for their Motorola XT-1540, got it in two days. It's really cool that I can find a useful video like this. I mean, it would be useful if it weren't such a difficult process, but the video is great.

I found it to be quite impressive how few components are on the board and how thin the shielding caps are

Thanks for showing the whole process! People jump around and skip steps which leads to confusion
No problem :)
Excellent video. Thanks mate. I don't understand why it's so complicated. Other brands are very easy to change battery.
Motorola are a pain in the ass! I have had two of their phones, never again.
Nice to know what to expect, I am going to give it a go. Parts ordered.

i actually think its easy to do than most thank you, you guys are great
Thank you and your welcome :)
I can't believe you need to remove the screen to disassemble the phone - I was thinking of getting a G3, but won't now
Thank you for your video. I removed the screen but I need new seals and rubber under the display and speaker and mic cover - the one that I ordered arrived without it. Is there any way to buy it? Do you have any tips?
Thank you
Thanks for the video! My replacement battery does not have that red film cover the original battery has. What is that red film for?
Hi, I think its just a protective film over the battery. You can peel it off the original battery and place it on the new one.
damn you had crazy views man!!

Thank you for the guide. I was able to replace my battery using your video guidance. My screen now has purple tinted lines all over though. You think my screen is busted or a cable adjustment issue? Thanks.
Maybe the cable is not in correctly or all the way. I would first look at the cable. If still issues then maybe you damaged the cable.
do you have to take the first 3 screws off to replace a broken LCD screen ....cheers
no I don't believe so
you dont need to remove the 3 screws, and it wasn't too difficult.
Great Video!

Great video, really clearly explained. Do you know where I could get a replacement screen? All I can find are 2nd gen screens.
thanks, excellent video.
i have a question, will that affect the ip68 protection
I'm sure to an extent it might affect it, but if you have the replacement seal then you can apply new adhesive seal to it and should be good to go.
hey, do you use some extra glue to reassembly the new screen or Will the heat just do its work to stick everything together?
we didn't use any extra glue, we just reheated the original adhesive. It all depends on how your adhesive is holding, if it has too much dust n debris on it, it wont hold as well and would require you to apply new adhesive. If you are worried, its always best to apply new adhesive to ensure a strong hold.
Great video. Very informative and well done.
Buen video, quiero preguntar que pegamento usas para volver a colocar la pantalla. Agradezco tu respuesta o alguien que sepa.
Thanks, 3M Smartphone Adhesive.
Y el pegamento B7000 serviría para esta reparación?

How much will it cost
Missed the on thing I wanted to see you talk about. Can you replace the headphone jack?
yes it's on the back housing you can pop it off and replace
just apply heat to put on the new display?? or need a special glue?
if the original adhesive around the inside of the frame is still good you can reuse it but if you want to ensure a good bond, you will need to reapply new adhesive/tape
just one more question, you know how in the video you are showing how to replace the led. what if I only want to replace the front glass screen , is there a different tutorial for that, thanks
you would need to replace the entire LCD assembly with touch glass. they are fused together and would require special tools n skills to separate and replace only the glass.
I have usb port broken. Does the replacing operation require any soldering, or is it only unscrewing and changing the part?
And what temperature were you using during lcd removal with the hot air?
+pwrdbykyank thank you for your answer. I'll do as you say and hope it works.
HI, This video was really helpful, but do you know where can I get a new screen?
+Ivan Rodriguez Hi, there are some on ebay, search for Moto G 3rd gen lcd and you will see them.
What temperature did you put on the blow dryer when the screen was warmed up?
well if you use a blow dryer/hair dryer there really is no temp you can adjust. Thats why I suggest a blow dryer/hair dryer instead of a heat gun because less chance of causing damage if you don't know how to properly use the heat gun and temps.
no problem. :)
Can I put a thin grille of the two holes? And what i can use?
I accidentally broke the small clear plastic and just want to put a normal protective grille on holes for speakers.
I must say that I do not care that will remain waterproof :))
Too much dust is collected and should be regularly clean.
That's why I want to put some grill/mesh grill ...yep.
i think I found a solution-will cut from "Shaver Razor Replacement Foil For BRAUN"-found on ebay.
sorry for my bad english :)
while replacement do I need to apply adhesive (Glue or something) on the edges of the body?🤔
If your adhesive isn't holding well anymore, yes you will need to apply new adhesive. You can use smartphone Red tape which is sold on ebay. Its a strong adhesive tape you can cut to size .
@@PBKreviews ok thanks
Which adhesive should i use after replacing the screen? Do you recommend any?
+Sconeikiin look online on ebay or so forth for those black 3m adhesives if you can find them, those would be the best to use. If not I'd say any thin 3m adhesive will work fine.
Thanks! I didn't break my phone's screen, but it's nice to know now i don't need to worry how to fix it, because now i know how to fix it just incase :)
i cleaned up my earpiece with a brush and it made some holes on its plastic cover does it affect on its water-resistant
I'm not sure, shouldn't affect it much
no it does not. Unfortunately i have tored mine down too and it did not affect it at all
Did you expose it to water
dear Tushar mane did you expose or submerge your Motorola Moto g3 to water
If the on/off button isn't working, would it be easy to replace it, and what part(s) would I need to buy to fix it?
What sort of adhesive can I use to seal the screen piece?
so just wandering, is it possible to replace the headphone jack, do I just pull it out and put the new one in?
Yea after you disassemble the back, you can pop out the old headphone jack and put the new in place
+pwrdbykyank thanks man,
I personally dislike phones where you cannot access the battery readily. Whilst I understand they did this so the phone would be waterproof but i rarely ever have my phone near water so i would rather they made a version where the phone is not waterproof and has easy access to the battery.
assinne Yes it is annoying
The G4 play is almost the same phone but with a removable battery.
+Gibrán Abner Abud Alcalá I agree
Hi, I'm not sure if it will affect it or not but have you checked on eBay or online to see if they sell replacement gaskets?
Hi, thanks for the reply. There are no replacement gaskets on eBay jet. And I'm afraid that when I open my phone, to repair it, it won't be water resistant anymore. But thanks for helping!! :)
no problem, I'm sure soon they will have it available to purchase
hey,,,my moto g turbo also doesnt have any plastic coverage in the bottom speaker hole,,,,but upper speaker has it,,,,Could anyone confirm if it normal.
Can the charge port be replaced without tearing down the whole phone? Mine is loose and I'd like to replace it, but not if I've got to take the whole thing apart.
+St. Misery Yes should be replaceable without tearing the whole phone down.
Very thorough, thanks
your welcome
the cable which you are pointing at 8:51 where can i buy that cable?...and can it be replaced easily?
Hi you can find it on ebay, search for moto g3 lcd flex and you will see it. And yes its easily replaceable. You just peel that yellow/orange sticker off the cable, left up the black lock in the side of the connector, pull out the old cable and insert the new cable to the motherboard slot, push down the black lock and put the yellow/orange sticker back over.
@@PBKreviews is the cable same for Moto g3 and Moto g turbo edition?(I own turbo edition)
Yea should be the same, I don't think they would make a different one for such a similar phone.
@@PBKreviews thanks man... appreciate that you're still replying to the comments for a video published 3 years back😀
no problem :)
Great! It is still useful, even today, in 2018 (laugh)
Thanks
This is very helpful.
Hi!! Do you have the same prodcedure to the Moto X Play 2015 (XT1563)?? Thx!!!
Yea its in my other videos
Dear friends, i read through many of the commentaries but i'm not secure of the answer to my question:
I need to switch the headphone jack, so i'll proceed just like the video so i can open the back and switch it.
I'll lose the "water-safe"ness of the phone on the process, right? If so, how can i make it water-safe again? Is putting some new adhesive tape where you cut at 7:30 enough? I'm a little confused. Thanks for the attention!
THANKS FOR SHARING!
Your welcome
My phone get wet. After six days it worked again. All seems to be right till I found that vibrator dosen't work any more. Where is the vibrator motor in the mother board? Its changable?. Another question: What temperature do you use in the heat gun to take off the screen?
Hi, the vibrator motor is right above the LCD connector on the back side of the mother board. If I remember correctly its soldered onto the board but is replaceable. Maybe it just has corrosion on it, you can brush it off and should work again. I'm not sure on the temp, but you can always use a hair dryer to heat it up
can we replace the battery??? and if where can i get the new battery plzz tell me.???
but does it still stay, ipx7 approved and water proof?
+Arnab Dey NOPE
Will it still be waterproof afterwards??
Unless you use proper adhesive all around the screen when reinstalling, I wouldn't risk it being water proof after you have taken the screen off
I need help.
Will this method remove the water proof capabilities of the phone?
@pwrdbykyank
I accidentally torn down the "Grey" coating near ear piece , that is the ear speaker grill, would that affect water resistance of the phone?
+Anurag Choudhary I don't think it would affect it much.
i also did the same it should have been more durable. its just a piece of plastic. I'm also in a doubt about it.
+Anurag Choudhary I did the same and had the same question. It is a pretty bad design. It makes no sense to put such a delicate screen where users will eventually reach for cleaning the ear piece.
Atleast motorola should replace it for free and give instructions to clean it
Is it the same procedure for a XT1550 4G?
yea same
Thank you
I bought the Moto G Turbo Edition (the G3 on steroids).
Then put phone back together and see if it will work.
pwrdbykyank thanks, I'll try whatever I can. By the way thanks a lot for the video, it was really well done. Very helpful.
anytime, thank you.
Do i really need to apply a new adhesive? or it will work fine w/o it?
*don't care about ipx7.
it will still stick without it just won't be as good of a bond as before as long as you don't damage to adhesive too much by touching it and getting it dirty etc.
+pwrdbykyank are you sure it won't come out?
+Jitendra Raghuwanshi ya the adhesive is strong it will hold just put the LCD back onto the frame and reheat it a bit and put some pressure to ensure it makes a good bond
+pwrdbykyank alright thanks for replying you earned a sub! :)
+Jitendra Raghuwanshi anytime, and thanks for the support :)
What brand and model # is your heat gun?
+Gary Beavers I used a w.e.p. 858d
Hi. Can I use hair dryer to disassembly LCD?
Yes you can use a hair dryer to heat it up
Oh, greath :)
And one more question,
Can I get a warm adhesive directly when the screen is removed and then back the screen? It seems to me that this is a better way to heat adhesive, but I am a beginner, don't know if that is possible...
Thanks a lot for fast answer, and for greath video too ;)
I dont understand what you mean, please explain
I need to replace sim reader, and procedure is this:
1.Heat the glass
2.Remove the screen, then take off flat cable
3.Remove the motherboard
4.Take off battery connector
5.Replace sim reader
6.Connect battery cable
7.Screw the motherboard
8.Connect flat cable for lcd and return the lcd
9.Heat again to reactivate adhesive
10.Done
And, can I first do point 9. and then point 8., i.e.
1.,2.,3.,...,7.Screw the motherboard
8.Heat again to reactivate adhesive directly (before putting back the screen)
9.And then connect lcd flact cable and put back the screen
I'm sorry for my bad english :)
pwrdbykyank hi where is the gps attenna. i need it very urgently.
i just wanted to know that how to open up the camera trim in motog3??
its held on with adhesive, you would need to pry it off.
+pwrdbykyank thanx .. its done ..
no problem
Que destornillador uso?
T4 torx screw driver
my glass on my phone is broke not the screen do i have change the whole lcd or can i just change the glass?
+Luke Stranksmufc The glass is only changeable by a professional with the right tools and machines. Or else it will be a micky mouse job and touch wont work right, dust under lens etc. Your best bet is to just replace the entire lcd assembly.
After doing this is the phone still as water resistant as before?
FubarMike if you reapply the adhesive with heat or replace the adhesive with a new one I don't see why not. It didn't have any special seal to completely prevent water from going inside so I'm assuming they have some special coating over the chips and board and that the shields over the chips are better at keeping water out.
+pwrdbykyank when you do this are you not afraid of getting this special coating on you and in you? and that the chemical will give you cancer?
Lol I've taken hundreds of phones apart and I'm fine, there's no such thing.
Could you test if the Moto G3 remains waterproof(IP57) after screen replacement?
It's not IP57, but it's IPX7. I don't know the answer to your question
@Nancy, could you please give me more details on making the mobile waterproof again? What kind of machine is that? Is it DIY'able?
Could you add my skype (nancyyang9308) or whatsapp (+8613590439558) , and then we talk more details ? Waiting for your news ! : )
so is the phone still waterproofed after I got everything apart
+Raymond Zhao If you replace the adhesive with new one or if you make sure you dont dirty the adhesive much and reapply it firmly with heat, I don't see why it wont hold out water.
+pwrdbykyank OK thanks cause I need to replace my screen and headphone jack so I was a bit concerned
Yes the audio jack is replaceable, it just sits in the back housing, but you can pull it out and replace it.
Good to know thanks. I've been wanting to upgrade phones for a while now so might do so when i have the funds. 1gb of ram doesn't cut it and most of the time even just typing on my keyboard is really laggy. Can't afford it now so it's good to know its fixable.
i have a problem that film above speaker grille is scratched out. how can i change that ?
+Athul Krishna Warrier you would have to take the LCD off and replace it from underneath.
My moto g3 loudspeaker has small mesh and i can see green component a bit.So, my question is will it safeguard from water?
I'm not 100% sure but I would lean toward that it would still be sufficiently safe. If it bothers you though, you should open and replace it with a new mesh
no I haven't yet but will just in case cheers
Sorry, where can i buy the teardown LCD replacemen :)
+Enrique Martin best bet would be on ebay
my headphone socket seems blocked/ broke it won't accept headphone jack can't see any blockages can this be easily looked at without tearing the whole phone apart sorry if this is a silly question
+Garry Cowan The only way would be to replace the headphone jack unless if you can see an object in there and can pull it out with a small tool
Thanks never had this happen before it's a strange fault to happen
Can you make a video of the same phone, but do a dunk test?
I take my Moto 360 in the shower with me everyday
Yea the headphone jack is replaceable. It sits in the rear housing and you can pull it out and replace it when you disassemble the phone.
continue whith the water resistan???
Nop, i dont think so.
is there any light behind Moto g3 speaker
muchas gracias. Fué muy útil. Saludos
Hi , got a problem . My phone is frozen with a black screen since android 6.0 update .Wonder if it's possible to off the phone manually
+brandy daryl you can press and hold the volume down and power button at same time to reset the device.
Great thanks. I've just replaced SIM card reader
Hi Rafael, where did you buy the SIM card reader ? I couldn't find yet from google?
It's at eBay
Hey man ? the camera flash slit on the back of my g3 is a bit loose is it just with my device ?
+Naveed Beigh didn't notice this one being loose, might just be your device but wouldn't worry too much about it
+pwrdbykyank okay thanks :)
+pwrdbykyank what about Audio Jack is it replaceable?
yea but you would first need to take the phone apart.
+Dheeraj Mawa do you have this phone ?
Now G7, G Power 2020, and One 5G Ace are much easier to disassemble
Disculpa donde puedo comprar la parte donde va el SIM? Para el XT1540? Ayuda :(
Heat gun temperature setting please.
madam I have one doubt how to change menu of Moto g3 plz reply for me plz this is my first mobile moto g3 and I'm big fan of moto so plz reply for this I hope u reply me Tq
What do you mean change the menu?
where to get those tools
you can get them most places online, easiest place would be ebay.
PLSE MAKE A VIDEO OF HOW TO REPAIR TORN WATERPROOF EARPIECE COATING ON MOTO G3. PLSE ITS A REQUEST 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Where is the gps antenna. i need it very urgently. thank u
Flashlight of my Moto G3 Turbo suddenly stopped working last week. It lit up only when I put pressure on the back near the flashlight.. please help
Won't heating damage the display........?
If you heat to much, yes you can damage you display.
hi how can i re[pair moto g that had water damage 4 months ago but now turns its self off everytime i make a call
Nice education
Can't they just get another reader board from elsewhere? maybe finding a parts or repair phone on ebay and taking it off one?
what to do if display is not stick property after i open ????
add new 3m adhesive
