This whole performance is proof that the younger Serj’s voice is coming back. His voice is much more strengthened, and he sounds much better overall.
It makes me happy, seeing older shows seeing how Serj was giving up and now he's trying again.

He can sing almost 100% like he did in the album recording, but his voice would die in less than 1 hour. Sometimes he may sound underwhelming, but it's on purpose to save his voice

Spiders was great, shows Serj's vocal range is still superb. If they ever did another album, I suspect it would be closer to that more melodic type of song than the angry stuff they started with. Works much better with his cleaner vocals.

@@TheMaxUNLEASHED After Toxicity, there were more songs which meant longer sets so he cut back on screaming and growling. That's why he started screaming less in 2003 onwards. Plus he realized if he kept screaming without a technique, he would've destroyed his voice. He definitely made a smart choice.
@@JordanBritt Apparently it isn't a voice preservation technique, Serj said in a live Q&A that his voice just evolved and if he does revert (or something like that can't remember) that it'll be musically redundant.

It's like all the different ways he has sang that part throughout the years.i find it very nostalgic and cool. Hence he has changed but kept all that he's been through and knows where he has come from. Recently he did say that he believes his voice has evolved quite a lot throughout the years and it is true. He preserves his voice now because he is in his near 60s and it's not worth taking the risk of tearing his vocal chords. But he did mention that he can genuinely do everything he has ever done in the past now too. It just tires him quickly which is understandable

Yeah that concert was awesome. The guy I was with knew literally everything about SOAD. And he literally shouted every single lyric possible lmao.
I see alot of "this is for people that think serj lost his voice"... he clearly didn't its just as he got older singing in the nasal range was more comfortable for him because he was at risk of rupturing his vocal chords as the singing style wasn't technically speaking safe at all... alot of his growl in his voice came from his throat and thats probably why its such a drastic change when he changed the techniques from pushing in the throat to singing with a nasal sound but with the diaphragm with occasional screams and growls here and there.
It sounds much different and better live. Online concerts usually don't have good sound balance. Ask anyone who was there how he sounded.
I keep coming back to these performances from 2018. Serj's voice is definitely getting better.
