    You could just use a suitably rated SSR solid state relay and enable it from the old spindle DC drive. Cost me a little over £5 ($7) + a bit of mains cable. Works perfectly for automated start + stop.

      Sooooo….. I haven’t really looked into it but I have a feeling it has to do with the Laser $31 setting. I think (don’t quote me) it’s acting like the laser and shutting on and off between passes. I’ve been lasering a lot lately so I haven’t messed with the switch box yet.

    I don't know how I feel about the router powers down intermittently

      So that was my fault! I had the settings wrong in my GRBL. Had it on Laser mode and in turn the Router turned on and off in between segments. 🤦🏻‍♂️

    Great job in explaining how it works. Just got mine and was going to install it this next week. The shut down between changes in carving locations would have made me stop the whole thing mid way. Thanks for explaining that in the video. I do have a question on the board shown in the video that goes down the left side of the machine. Was that for keeping the shavings out of the belt? How is that working for you and what size did you use? I keep cleaning out the channels as the cuts are being made but if this board works it would keep me from having to get close to the machine as it is on.

      Thanks so for the comment! Yes…. I made a simple L to hang over the left side of the rail and it helps substantially! I found that the left side gets a lot more dust build up than the right side. I made some from scrap wood but you can almost use anything like cardboard or corrugated board. I highly suggest using compressed air to blow out the channels regularly. The cover makes a huge difference!

    Any updates regarding the router switching on and off during the program 'rapids'? Thank you.

      The short answer is no. I switch so much between the Router and Laser I don’t hook it up. I’m going to have a dedicated CNC machine soon so I’ll definitely hook it back up and see what happens! Stay tuned because I’ll be reviewing a new FA machine in just a couple weekends!

    What software do you run with this machine? Have not purchased a machine yet, but I'm looking into the software.

      I’m a simple guy so I really like Easel for CNC and LightBurn for the Laser.

    question, those rubber belts on the rollers, how often do they have to be changed, the other machines didnt have them?

    • @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman
      @TheCrawlspaceCraftsman  Рік тому +1

      As long as they’re tensioned correctly you shouldn’t have to change them that often. It also depends on how often you use the machine.

      @@mtz3843 just make sure it’s not over tightened. Too tight will cause too much fiction on the wheels and track causing your Y axis to stick. Too like and it’ll slip which I turn can tear them up.
