I am so sorry you are struggling with exposure on YT. I am hearing many creators complaining about the algorithm. I’m sure you have put much thought into this before chatting about it openly. I am here to say I appreciate all you do here. You have been an inspiration to me on my watercolor journey. YT is terrible with the notifications!!!!! I rarely if EVER get notifications from ANY channel I subscribe to. Do not despair and please keep us informed where we can find you if you choose to move to a new address. 💕
I second these sentiments. You do beautiful work and I am just grateful of how generous you are in sharing your talent, but your time is worth so much too! Another platform might be what you need.

As a viewer learning watercolor I'm subscribed to 30-40 artist teaching watercolor. I'm sure watercolor teachers on UA-cam are in the thousands. Keep going, keep posting. The more you post the quicker you will see viewers. Try posting daily for a month and see if there is a difference. I know it's not easy and many watercolor teachers hit blocks and then have to take their own advice and just keep going. This is how I see it as a viewer. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Oh and even if we watch you paint you are teaching us how to hold the brushes and what strokes to make. Very helpful. I found you because UA-cam recommended you for me!
I rarely comment, but listening to you as I follow along with my five year old and I just want to say that I think perhaps the loss of interest is due to people going back to their old busy way of life post-pandemic. For a few years we healthfully embraced a slower pace and many of us picked up new hobbies or ventured more deeply into old ones. Your tutorials have been such a gift to me, and my littlest Hobbit has had a ball painting alongside me. You've inspired both of us, and I know we're not alone. Your work here is much appreciated!

I enjoy watching you work and am so sorry you are discouraged. As a brand new painter, perhaps I am not as committed to painting as others. During the school year (darker, colder months) I was watching and painting frequently. However, the summer changes have me outside, in the yard, traveling, mowing, visiting friends and family, etc. I know when the days get shorter and the weather gets cooler, I will spend more time painting. Don't give up. You do a lovely job and have inspired me to try new things!!! Hang in there!!

I know I haven't been watching everything I am subscribed to lately, but that is more a factor of wandering interests and also time (have finished school, and gave myself some time off studying, but am still working full time and am now studying for my national exam). I generally find the notification of new videos pops up on my phone, during work, which is inconvenient. I then have to go search in my subscriptions later to find it. I agree, the algorithm...is odd. I do enjoy your videos, even if I don't watch them when they are originally posted!

I love your videos also! My journey with watercolors may be enlightening for you to understand how much time it takes to gather over 100 thousand members. I first started with pandemic time. I subscribed to an artist for children and painted and drew like a child. Then I went to the nice lady in France with the animals, again it was a step up but very amateur cartoon like. Then I tried 2 more advanced tutors. But I want to do my own drawing and paint lovely washes and learn perspective and techniques, and when a student puts this or that color next to the wrong hue of green, for example, how it can push or pull. What I love about you Renata, are your colors and the light hand, sharing the mix and where. Now I’m painting pleasant scenes because of you. As far as You Tube goes you will do what you will. There are still many of your videos I haven’t gotten to that I love, like the galaxy series. 😢. God bless you in whatever way you choose ❤
UA-cam is pushing shorts for some reason but shorts aren’t great at all for tutorial channels. I’m hanging in with my channel because it has to shift back sooner or later. I don’t think people will hang in on UA-cam to watch shorts. I’ve seen channnels that have a bunch of subscribers from shorts but very low views on their tutorials.

I have been looking for channels that could help me learn how to work with watercolours and I only found your channel today. I feel that your videos are amazing and I found them easy to follow and re-created a painting that you taught. I was happy with the results that I got. I love the book marks. I know many people, like me, read audiobooks now. Mainly because my eyes are not so good. Dry Mac D causes night blindness and even in some strange ways with words. But the bookmarks can be used for more than marking a page in a book. It could have a new baby;s name on it and put into a baby book or the family Bible. Just so lovely sweetie!

From what I have seen from other art channels I follow they are all complaining about the algorithm and they have been noticing changes on how YT is not pushing their videos the same anymore. They are also saying that YT is pushing for shorts. I sincerely appreciate you, your art and your channel. Your painting and how you do it, explain it makes watercolor seem not so scary. I hope that you stay. Whenever I see a new video from you if I can’t watch it at that moment I save it to watch later so I do not miss anything from you. I hope that you stay, but you need to do what is best for you and what makes you happy too. If you change channels or platforms please let us know what you are doing or where you are going so those of us who love you can continue to follow you.
I often have to search for my favorite YT artists or would miss their content. No notification! Makes me so mad. I would hate for you to leave! Dear sweet Renata - You know I have loved your videos and even if I have not wanted to paint a particular one, I have so enjoyed listening to you and watching YOU paint. You seem like a friend, not just a (very talented) artist on UA-cam. I am very sorry you are feeling sad and I certainly can understand your feelings. I don't know anything about how UA-cam works, but if it is a platform that is always going to be frustrating and upsetting for you, then you need to do what makes YOU happy. I have always been amazed that you put so much effort into bringing us content with no expectation of compensation, just because you love creating art and sharing it with us. I would hate not seeing and learning from you, but I would also not want this to become a burden to you - it should bring you joy, not sadness. So, I guess I will hope that things work out for you to continue with your many fans - either here, if things change to be better for you, or elsewhere (as everyone is saying - let us know where you decide to concentrate your efforts - we will follow!). New subscriber here... Don't be discouraged. Your channel is still fairly young! I don't understand the monetization of a channel, but seek ways to make it make money. I see others in Patreon that helps boost the income. You are doing wonderful creations, would be a shame to lose you. I guess the best advice would be to learn the business. There's more to it than just creating...

I truly enjoy your videos! The UA-cam algorithm is horrible when it comes to most artist type tutorial videos. If you enjoy making the videos, keep at it. That’s what matters. Do what you enjoy!
I don't know enough about YT algorithms or how any of it works. But, I love art and you are very talented! I do not receive notifications from the majority of the art channels I subscribe to either. (As someone commented below) I guess YT does not prioritize us creatives!! :) Best wishes as you continue your journey through art!
I understand your frustration Renata. I just watched this video today because I simply didn’t have time so far. But I agree with the people here that the algorithm is horrible and always changing. Also what I notice is that people put some words in caps in the title because this is apparently also something what UA-cam loves (I find it annoying). I love for example your tutorials that you created for other platforms and I would gladly pay money directly to you. But for example the CF tutorial I can only watch again when I subscribe to the platform and I am not really interested in the other stuff so much. On the other hand the Artefacto one I can watch whenever I want. I know it is less accessible and not everyone will be able to afford it. But in the end it is you who has to stay inspired and not loose the will to do what you like. And if there is another way (either through another platform and maybe offering paid courses on your own website) then so be it :) Sending you lot of hugs 🤗

I just got to watch your video and, I hope you get this comment. I personally believe there are so many artists on youtube anymore, that people cannot get to watch them all. I only watch five artists but some people are subscribed to twenty or thirty channels and not watching all of them. Maybe that is something else that is going wrong. Another artist I follow said they are doing more "shorts" because those seem to attract more viewers. People apparently like shorts because they are more like TikTok videos. They said they use those shorts to attract more viewers to their channel.
Personally, I hope you stick around, but ultimately, the decision is one you have to make. I just recently found you and I like your art style. You are right in that UA-cam's algorithm discriminates. I subscribe to so many art channels but all they suggest to me is crap I wouldn't watch if I was paid.

So sorry you are discouraged. You put a lot of effort into your videos and it shows. I was watching another channel ( unrelated topic to yours), they noticed their subscriber list dropping etc. They did some research and found out that UA-cam is highly encouraging creators to make “shorts “ videos. UA-cam is favoring the channels that make them. More work for UA-cam creators!🤨 Just an insight… you do lovely work and I’ll always be a fan of yours!

Hi! Wow! I’m really sorry you are having such turmoil! There are probably a few things going on. It’s not you!! It is the algorithm, they aren’t sending out notices! They send out notices for “New” channels a few times then it stops! I’ve tried everything in order to get the channels I want to show up on my feed but it doesn’t work. Do you have a Patreon? It seems that’s where the push is- I don’t join Patreon cuz of finances. I noticed a few things right away… you don’t really announce yourself, you don’t say “please click like and subscribe if you haven’t already done so!” You have to promote yourself more. I love your paintings and art. Yes- you are complaining, sometimes that’s ok. Only you can make these decisions. If you have 70,000 subscribers then I think you need to perk this channel up a bit. If you do much emotional sharing that isn’t upper you will lose viewers. Life is really tough right now and most of us don’t want to spend what little free time we have listening to Debbie Downer I haven’t watched your channel for a bit- the bookmarks caught my eye. I downloaded it so I can paint these later. I don’t think you are normally down in the dumps. I’m sorry you are feeling down. Perhaps you should contact some of the other artists on UA-cam and compare notes and see what you can do to change it up. I have heard a few other artists discuss how and what they did when they became or felt burned out and stuck or wondered “why am I doing this?” Thank you for what you do and I hope you work out your dilemma.
Thank you, Karen, so much for the concern. I have work some things out in meanwhile. My intention wasn't here to whine, but just wanted to share my emotional journey with you here. I do have a Patreon as of recently, so I am focusing lot more work there. 😁 Many options out there and I am exploring mine.
This type of content will never have a lot of views, cause there is very little people who do watercolor and even less who try to learn it, that is just a reality of the kind of art you choose to do. Also you're talking very quiet and slow which isn't a cup of tea for a lot of people. Most often only the loudest of people get any type of traction. I have the same problem, I'm not a very interesting person to put online. I could have a lot of views from the popular art form I do, and great skills I have, but I'm just not made for it. Im not consistent, I'm not that interesting to be put online, so I just accepted that, but it took me a lot of time to realize that and a lot of burn outs. It should never be a reason for us to stop creating, cause in the core what gives us joy is the creating, not the views. We started to learn and make art cause it bought us joy, not cause we immediately put it online to get viewes and money, and that's what should be out focus. If that means realizing that we are do not enjoy making it everyone to see online anymore that's ok, we don't have to.

I had to turn the video off. I really do like your videos but i also personally create for my personal enjoyment. Not for "clout". I say paint for yourself and everything will come in time. I've had a page on fb with only 50 k follows for years. I still paint for me. I dont really post on youtube one day i will but either way painting is for me and my happiness and if it moves others during my process then cool but if not then i did myself a service taking time to paint for me.

I know I haven't been watching everything I am subscribed to lately, but that is more a factor of wandering interests and also time (have finished school, and gave myself some time off studying, but am still working full time and am now studying for my national exam). I generally find the notification of new videos pops up on my phone, during work, which is inconvenient. I then have to go search in my subscriptions later to find it. I agree, the algorithm...is odd. I do enjoy your videos, even if I don't watch them when they are originally posted!

I love your videos also! My journey with watercolors may be enlightening for you to understand how much time it takes to gather over 100 thousand members. I first started with pandemic time. I subscribed to an artist for children and painted and drew like a child. Then I went to the nice lady in France with the animals, again it was a step up but very amateur cartoon like. Then I tried 2 more advanced tutors. But I want to do my own drawing and paint lovely washes and learn perspective and techniques, and when a student puts this or that color next to the wrong hue of green, for example, how it can push or pull. What I love about you Renata, are your colors and the light hand, sharing the mix and where. Now I’m painting pleasant scenes because of you. As far as You Tube goes you will do what you will. There are still many of your videos I haven’t gotten to that I love, like the galaxy series. 😢. God bless you in whatever way you choose ❤

UA-cam is pushing shorts for some reason but shorts aren’t great at all for tutorial channels. I’m hanging in with my channel because it has to shift back sooner or later. I don’t think people will hang in on UA-cam to watch shorts. I’ve seen channnels that have a bunch of subscribers from shorts but very low views on their tutorials.

I love the book marks. I know many people, like me, read audiobooks now. Mainly because my eyes are not so good. Dry Mac D causes night blindness and even in some strange ways with words. But the bookmarks can be used for more than marking a page in a book. It could have a new baby;s name on it and put into a baby book or the family Bible. Just so lovely sweetie!

From what I have seen from other art channels I follow they are all complaining about the algorithm and they have been noticing changes on how YT is not pushing their videos the same anymore. They are also saying that YT is pushing for shorts. I sincerely appreciate you, your art and your channel. Your painting and how you do it, explain it makes watercolor seem not so scary. I hope that you stay. Whenever I see a new video from you if I can’t watch it at that moment I save it to watch later so I do not miss anything from you. I hope that you stay, but you need to do what is best for you and what makes you happy too. If you change channels or platforms please let us know what you are doing or where you are going so those of us who love you can continue to follow you.

Dear sweet Renata - You know I have loved your videos and even if I have not wanted to paint a particular one, I have so enjoyed listening to you and watching YOU paint. You seem like a friend, not just a (very talented) artist on UA-cam. I am very sorry you are feeling sad and I certainly can understand your feelings. I don't know anything about how UA-cam works, but if it is a platform that is always going to be frustrating and upsetting for you, then you need to do what makes YOU happy. I have always been amazed that you put so much effort into bringing us content with no expectation of compensation, just because you love creating art and sharing it with us. I would hate not seeing and learning from you, but I would also not want this to become a burden to you - it should bring you joy, not sadness. So, I guess I will hope that things work out for you to continue with your many fans - either here, if things change to be better for you, or elsewhere (as everyone is saying - let us know where you decide to concentrate your efforts - we will follow!). Don't be discouraged. Your channel is still fairly young! I don't understand the monetization of a channel, but seek ways to make it make money. I see others in Patreon that helps boost the income.

I don't know enough about YT algorithms or how any of it works. But, I love art and you are very talented! I do not receive notifications from the majority of the art channels I subscribe to either. I understand your frustration Renata. I just watched this video today because I simply didn’t have time so far. But I agree with the people here that the algorithm is horrible and always changing. Also what I notice is that people put some words in caps in the title because this is apparently also something what UA-cam loves (I find it annoying).
I love for example your tutorials that you created for other platforms and I would gladly pay money directly to you. But for example the CF tutorial I can only watch again when I subscribe to the platform and I am not really interested in the other stuff so much. On the other hand the Artefacto one I can watch whenever I want. I know it is less accessible and not everyone will be able to afford it. But in the end it is you who has to stay inspired and not loose the will to do what you like. And if there is another way (either through another platform and maybe offering paid courses on your own website) then so be it :) Sending you lot of hugs 🤗

I personally believe there are so many artists on youtube anymore, that people cannot get to watch them all. I only watch five artists but some people are subscribed to twenty or thirty channels and not watching all of them.

Another artist I follow said they are doing more "shorts" because those seem to attract more viewers. People apparently like shorts because they are more like TikTok videos. They said they use those shorts to attract more viewers to their channel.
That just sucks. I love making tutorials and chatty videos. Shorts are not my thing. 🥴
Personally, I hope you stick around, but ultimately, the decision is one you have to make. I just recently found you and I like your art style. You are right in that UA-cam's algorithm discriminates. I subscribe to so many art channels but all they suggest to me is crap I wouldn't watch if I was paid.

Thank you. I do appreciate every single subscriber and believe I am so blessed to have such community. But I have issues with YT sometimes not reaching those people, and that is what frustrates me.

I was watching another channel ( unrelated topic to yours), they noticed their subscriber list dropping etc. They did some research and found out that UA-cam is highly encouraging creators to make “shorts “ videos. UA-cam is favoring the channels that make them.

Hi! Wow! I’m really sorry you are having such turmoil! There are probably a few things going on. It’s not you!! It is the algorithm, they aren’t sending out notices! They send out notices for “New” channels a few times then it stops! I’ve tried everything in order to get the channels I want to show up on my feed but it doesn’t work.
Do you have a Patreon? It seems that’s where the push is- I don’t join Patreon cuz of finances.
I noticed a few things right away… you don’t really announce yourself, you don’t say “please click like and subscribe if you haven’t already done so!” You have to promote yourself more.
I love your paintings and art.
Yes- you are complaining, sometimes that’s ok. Only you can make these decisions. If you have 70,000 subscribers then I think you need to perk this channel up a bit. If you do much emotional sharing that isn’t upper you will lose viewers. Life is really tough right now and most of us don’t want to spend what little free time we have listening to Debbie Downer I haven’t watched your channel for a bit- the bookmarks caught my eye. I downloaded it so I can paint these later. I don’t think you are normally down in the dumps. I’m sorry you are feeling down. Perhaps you should contact some of the other artists on UA-cam and compare notes and see what you can do to change it up. I have heard a few other artists discuss how and what they did when they became or felt burned out and stuck or wondered “why am I doing this?”

Thank you, Karen, so much for the concern. I have work some things out in meanwhile. My intention wasn't here to whine, but just wanted to share my emotional journey with you here. I do have a Patreon as of recently, so I am focusing lot more work there. 😁 Many options out there and I am exploring mine.
This type of content will never have a lot of views, cause there is very little people who do watercolor and even less who try to learn it, that is just a reality of the kind of art you choose to do. Also you're talking very quiet and slow which isn't a cup of tea for a lot of people. Most often only the loudest of people get any type of traction.
I have the same problem, I'm not a very interesting person to put online. I could have a lot of views from the popular art form I do, and great skills I have, but I'm just not made for it. Im not consistent, I'm not that interesting to be put online, so I just accepted that, but it took me a lot of time to realize that and a lot of burn outs.
It should never be a reason for us to stop creating, cause in the core what gives us joy is the creating, not the views. We started to learn and make art cause it bought us joy, not cause we immediately put it online to get viewes and money, and that's what should be out focus. If that means realizing that we are do not enjoy making it everyone to see online anymore that's ok, we don't have to.
Yes, I know what you mean. Maybe, I am just not cut out for it. Or maybe just need to realize and except the situation and go with it. I guess, it is not in my nature. I am learning to relax and not control everything. This might be one of the harder lessons. 😂 Thank you for your comment. Made me question some things again.
I had to turn the video off. I really do like your videos but i also personally create for my personal enjoyment. Not for "clout". I say paint for yourself and everything will come in time. I've had a page on fb with only 50 k follows for years. I still paint for me. I dont really post on youtube one day i will but either way painting is for me and my happiness and if it moves others during my process then cool but if not then i did myself a service taking time to paint for me.
