@@crunchycrackers7364, “full-voiced” just means he didn’t use special techniques like subharmonics. Head voice is just a higher range but still full voice.
Yay! I've been hoping you'd react to Geoff's work again! Would you consider reacting to his cover of High and Dry? If you want to really be impressed by his range, that's the one to listen to. Great reaction! I agree with you that Sixteen Tons is perfect, but Geoff says one of the background singers makes a mistake near the end. I've never been able to catch it, but I'll take his word for it. 🙂
I'm old enough to remember the Ol' Pea Picker Tennessee Ernie Ford and have an old double album of his called "Yesterday and Today". Thanks for sharing this version of one of his greatest songs. Now I have to go put the old record on and give it a listen.
We love Tim and Geoff but I think you should react to "Black is the color of my true love's hair" Avi really has a smooth and round sound even in the lowest register, its worth a watch. Nice reaction as always btw
when i was younger, i had a very impressive range, with my lowest note at a high baritone/low tenor range and at the highest I sang Defying Gravity. I've always had this thing where when i get a cold, instead of really /losing/ range, it just... shifted. Down. Sometimes a couple notes, sometimes a whole half-octave, and once it shifted so low, I managed to match a Johnny Cash song. It has never happened again and I yearn for those days.
Glad you reacted to this. You have entertaining reactions to Morissette, Katrina, So Hyang and Geoff. Which made realize that Morissette and Geoff have the combined range that falls off the piano on both ends.
The only thing wrong was the final line in the last verse he got it backwards, it was supposed to be “if the right one don’t get you the left one will”

I see NO ANGELINA JORDAN ASTAR for some time... are you refusing to react to her original song/first release from Republic Records? I do not see it yet. MILLION MILES - written by Angelina Jordan Astar and a few collaborators. THERE are three versions out there. THE LYRIC video, with original artwork by AJA and her grandma.... The LIVE IN STUDIO (lightly produced) version, and the OFFICIAL VIDEO version where AJA is the star and shows the story point of view, with same full on studio audio as with the lyric video... YOU CHOOSE... cannot go wrong, unless you fail to react to ALL THREE!!!!!
Tennessee Ernie Ford sang the thing way up on the bass clef, in octave 3 mostly, or the top part of octave 2. Honestly I have no idea why his version is even famous; his voice is completely inappropriate for the song. Might as well have Mitch Grassi sing it in octave 5, that at least would have some humor value. Geoff's version isn't just better than Ford's; it's at least two orders of magnitude better.
I could clearly hear a subharmonic on the last, low bass note. I checked it with a spectrum analyzer and could clearly see the primary was at 80Hz and the sub was at 40Hz (E1).
@@lapislazuli2896, it's hard to get a clean spectrum on him. His timbre and harmonics are so rich, he throws spikes all over the place... this is why he sounds so damn good, though.

until you get mouth cancer and you have to get your larynx removed and you can't sing at all anymore. Some better advice if you really must are to eat a more testosterone rich diet or to have your voice surgically altered or get implants/fatty injections to bulk up your chords.
What's funny is you mention tricks to sing lower. Geoff himself actually has a video talking about a few techniques people use to sing low. A good example is Vocal frying. He explained it as similar to the same feeling of clearing your throat because it uses the same muscle groups. I had actually been doing it for years but never knew what it was called until I saw his video. I was like "I literally taught myself how to rumble my voice like that to try and make the grudge noise. I didn't think it was a singing technique." XD
The original was by Merle Travis in 1947 but it was a huge hit for Tennessee Ernie Ford in 1955. My late mother had both versions in her record library. This one is closer to Ford's version, but it pulls in something from Johnny Cash's version. "Low Bass Cover" indeed.

Your time sync is off by quite a bit. You obviously were hearing the low notes and reacting well before the viewers got to hear them. Just a nitpick, but pretty annoying.
Former bass singer with Pentatonix Avi busted quite a few speakers on stage with his low register. He sings lower than the bass singer of Home Free. Interesting history behind this song. In the end 19th and start of the 20th century the coal miners got everything, shovel, pick, lantern, boots, housing, groceries, medicine, clothes, etcetera from the company store. So no matter how hard or long they worked they never got ahead.
