great help great video and all your videos are just fabulous. I request you to do a video on the detailed explanation of the wet mount technique and how to do it under the micropscope pinpointing each and every detailed point. i watch your vids again and again to be sure i dont miss out anything
Great Video, I'm already suscribed. Thanks for explain it, it was very clearly. However, I have a question about the Pl/gr, What happen if at a determinated age it has a less animals than suggested?; I must emphasize that at the market it has become normal, for example at PL8 has a 450 PL/gr even less.
in a farm setting, only by stocking two different genetic strains in a large number of ponds around the same time, which is logistically complicated. Or in an R&D facility.
thanks for video' i have question for determination the Total vibrio count in shrimp post larvae shall we use sample whole bodies or remove carapace then rinse with sterile sea water
Hi Enrique, for that you would need to weigh 30-50 shrimp individually (instead of counting how many pieces in 1kg for instance), then calculating the % in each class. The size classes you are referring about I suppose to be the ones used by processing plants (number of shrimp per pound, e.g. classes 41/50, 51/60, 61/70, etc.)
Hi miss , excuse me may i ask you ? Do you ever hear SALT MIX ? I want to make brackish water for culture larva macrobrachium rosenbergii..can i make the brackish water use SALT MIX ? can the larva grow at the brackish water use salt mix ?
First That's is 1000 PL per m2, it is okay for 2 3 week's but then the carrying capacity will be compromised. This density is not commercially viable for the entire grow out period, just for pre nursery, maybe PL 40. Size disparity at start means likely you end up with shrimp of all sizes at the end.
Hi Poi San Mok. Currently Giana and I are not directly involved in production (we are now full time researchers), so we don't buy PLs. It depend on the country you are in, of course, but above all you want to visit the hatchery yourself, see if they are biosecure and do routine testing for SPF (if you have closed systems), and do a PL quality check like what Giana explained in the PL Quality video, to see if their PLs are of good quality.
Thank you Dr Giana Gomes
It was very informative video ! Thanks for sharing

Hi Ali, sorry late reply. Please email us and we can arrange a call if you loke to follow up. We won't be able to make the requested video...
Thank you very much for a very well organized and informative video
Thanks Victor

Thanks for sharing such information's.
Great video professor Giana!

Gracias, genial vídeo, saludos desde EC, ? Como evaluar la calidad genética de postlarvas ?, gracias

Hi, you can do total vibrio count using TCBS agar of water (CFU/mL), not the animal (it doesn't make sense).
Please write about mineral and vitamin which important for larvae to make it better.
Including for koi fish if possible
Hi please do a brief testing steps of PL
Hi, we just explained all the PL tests to be done on this video, start with the stress test then the microscopy test
nice video !
Thank you for the information. How do you determine the # of size classes in a biometry?

What will happen if we stock 10k pl in 10m2 pond with pl size variation more than 4

How many days can shrimp be consider under PL (Post Larvae) stage before it will be called as juvenile?
Where do you buy the Vannamei PLs?

i want to know about exactly how to determine the numbers as well, please let me know if i can reach you directly also.
counting you mean ?
Dear Madam,
I would like to make a lab to check for shrimp farm, please help me to list machine and check list.
Thanks you very much
