Wow. He was my 12th great grandfather. I was researching about him today and stumbled upon this video. How remarkable this information is availability.
Thank you so much for sharing! I just found out that I’m the direct descendant of SirJames Henderson, the 3rd Baron of Fordell! He was my 13th Great-Grandfather!
I stumbled across you totally by accident and subscribed immediately! I love your stories of history as several have already related to my family history as well. Sir John Henderson, 5th of Fordell is also my 11th great grandfather. Please keep up the fine work of telling the families stories . . . so many get lost through the generations.
Ryan Henderson, aged 34 from Chattanooga, TN. North Carolina and Virginia are where I know about my family coming from. I would love to talk to you one day.
Hi Greg, John is my 11th Great Granduncle, I descend from one of his sisters Euphanie. I like your videos and I have noticed we have many ancestry connections
Oiiii mates. I'm a direct heir to the line of John Henderson. Through his son James Henderson, whom emigrated out of Scotland to Maryland and his decsendants who ended up in North Carolina; where I now reside. Sir John Henderson's father was supposedly named Jeshua Henryson.
His son John died in 1678 @ 22. Leaving only one son. Still in Scotland. Captain William. Capri william should have been the heir to the the title baron & get the castle, but being 7 when his grandfather died. His uncle got it. Captain William also diedin Scotland, but his son William went to the US & into VA. He married into the Hughes family. Getting a large farm. His daughters all married McComb’s. Their descendants still farm the shanadoha valley in Augusta county & are buried at tinkling springs Presbyterian church. I know bc my dad grew up on a large part of said farm. Maybe another son went into Maryland/nc but idk why a family wouldnt stick together. Maybe your line migrated down later then the early 1700’s. Maybe we’re all cousins.
Hey, Matt. I wonder is John Henderson was a younger son of his father? My grandfather was directly from Scotland and he said family tradition was always that the first son be named James no matter what. That seems to match your ancestor who immigrated.
He is also my ancestor I have been to fordell Castle many times and I have seen a lot of Henderson headstones in the Castle always good to know where you come from
Hi, Sir John was my 10th great-grandfather. I would like to visit the Fordell Castle next year but thought it was privately owned and did not think it was possible. How would I go about getting a tour of the castle?
@@brendapartain2247 it is privately owned and you must have an invitation to go to it. I toured Fordell castle with Clan Henderson in 2017 and it was amazing!
I’m sure they went up through the Red Sea & then over land- possibly back by boat in the med- to Alexandria. Hell maybe even using the Nile. If they went south around the Cape- I doubt they’d go into the Mediterranean at all, bc England is just north of Spain. Also I can’t even find who was royalty in Zanzibar then! What’s this princess’ name that saved my great x a ton- grandpa?
@@77rehenderson Well if it gives you hope, my dad is still alive & kicking in his late 70's despite being a heavy smoker. His grand-dad also a Henderson lived well into his 90's. So some Hendersons do have the long life genes.
Cleopatra was Greek & the first in her family (who had ruled equities for sometime) to speed Egyptian. Also maid- is not like a housekeeper, but a lady in waiting. Also white folks can be native to Africa. How many generations does it take till it’s your home land? 2? 100 yrs? 500 hundred? I like how you commented on that but not a white guy being inslaved in Africa. Also Zanzibar is the place we’re the most African slaves were exported into to the Middle East. Freddie mercy (lead singer queen) is from there. Maybe she’s of middle eastern decent. It’s very close to Yemen.
lighthouse laura lol this is funny “how many generations until it’s your homeland”? I ask myself the same thing when racist people yell “go back to Africa” to me, considering that my family has been in America for centuries you’d think this would be my home country. But alas.
England? John Henderson was born in Scotland. You could say the UK or Great Britain but Scottish folk would not take kindly to you calling Scotland "England" instead.
Thank you cousin! He is my 11th Great-Grandfather! My Mom's a Henderson :) Still alive at 95!

Hi Robert! I had an uncle "Bob", Robert Henderson. Sadly passed away too young but nice to see another of the namesake.
@@TheWBWoman Good morning!
Yea, it seems the Henderson Bloodline from my side anyway, the men tend to pass early, I hope to break that tradition! Lol

My 9th Great Grandfather
Hello there!! We have common ancestors!
Hello cousin!
Hi Greg, I have a FB page called Before me - a journey of discovery You may like to view it sometime 😊
so hold on your telling me the lady on the left was the princess of Zanzibar/unguja and the lady on the right was a maid in her native land?
Maria Tariq research that princess by name
