Its been 5 years and Im STILL in love with the aesthetic of this video. I was a game artist (with a lot of focus on pixel assets) and its clear that the pixel animation has so much detail thought into it (not counting all the bkgds where she's holding someone's hand, like do yall notice how the initial pixel background changes based on time of day and weather, the clothes on the clothline even get FUCKING taken in when it's raining (1:18)) . The pink/orangey filter that covers everything. The art of symmetry (1:18) (1:21) (1:35) (1:56) (2:44), small nostalgic moments (1:27), adorable transitioning (1:31) (1:45) (2:36), framing (hell, that's like the whole damn video but shout out to 0:18), and just so much more. It's hard to put it into words, but the video is so charming and whimsical, and it feels familiar like the artscape from childhood (pixel art, the colorful bedrooms, flowers, hearts, karoke, things that are handmade). Of course, that makes sense. It's going for retro, but it does it in a really tasteful way. Not only through props, costume, and background, but through things like the clever aspect ratio pixel frame that eventually falls away at the end. And in general, kudos to the direction for coming up with this concept for Leehi's song specifically (like.. be honest with me, what would you have come up with?? especially for an almost ballad-esque song?), I really don't think I've seen anything quite like it.

This is one hell of a transformation from about 4 years ago. Lee Hi should have a genre of her own. Just an incredible voice and she's become an absolute heartbreaker. It totally amazes me to no end, to see how Korean music has evolved in just the past 5 years, especially the ladies of K-pop. Kudos to the ladies, I'm hooked.
