Thankfully I was a fully aware kid in 2000. Great times - best TV shows/cartoons and movies, best music whether rap or rock, video games were in their absolute prime - and so much to do in the outside world; back when shopping malls were still cool, video stores were still hopping, skate culture was at it's peak, etc... basically there was more to do back then before the internet replaced all of those forms of physical shopping. Many were just beginning to use internet - the world was definitely less consumed by technology.

Though as we got closer to 2000, we knew that was never going to happen, since it looked like the video. Didn't stop us from celebrating; pop videos had a sort of futuristic look to them in 1999.

Life got bad in 2013 and onwards for me, although in late 2018 I joined uni and I'm so happy again. I hear people say "80s were the best, it's shit now", now they say "2000s were the best, it's terrible now". Soon people will start saying 10s were the greatest. The thing is that our time we live in is the best one, so enjoy today. In 20 years people will say 20s were awesome, because it's always great to live if we make sure to enjoy every bit.

I know a couple of days ago I randomly thought of the 80s and I counted back how much time it was ago and I was so surprised I couldn't even believe it was that long ago

That’s because security cameras save literal years of footage. If all the footage was such high quality then there wouldn’t be any viable method to store it without spending tens of thousands on hard drives.

Its because when we were 10 a year was 1/10th of our life and felt longer. At 40 a year is just a small portion of that life and doesn't feel as significant. I remember in elementary a 2 week winter break felt like an eternity. Now the weeks just fly

Because time feels shorter as you age. The days felt longer when you were a child because you haven't even lived a quarter of your life yet. Once you hit 25 years old the years go by in the blink of an eye
