This *really* needs to be on the Tribute catalog. It would wipe the floor with *all* the Squiers: Awesome pickups that sound great both clean and dirty, the PTB system, and a trem that actually works!

Well, you must be pleased with the recent news.
I have 6 Comanche's and 2 ASAT Z3's, G&L is still "the best kept secret" in electric guitar making and evolution. Great instruments and now I want a Doheny.
I just snagged one off Reverb. Looking forward to receiving it this week.

Finally, something with my favorite body style. Always found it to be the most comfortable, and it sounds great too!

Man - I gotta tell ya - G&L kicks butt! I have a G&L ASAT Bluesboy, and it is way better feeling, workmanship, and sounding than any Fender product. And they don't Price gouge you like Fender does. I wish G&L was sold in more stores. Reverend is another brand that just kicks Fender and Gibson's Butts! I have a Reverend Jetstream and it's quality is far superior than Fender or Gibson. Every guitar I buy from here on out will either be a G&L or a Reverend. The heck with those $3500 Custom Shop garbage Axes.
Agree with you esp on Reverend guitars. I have three of 'em already! LOL. I'm looking at the Doheny because the Charger 290 doesn't have a trem. Can you tell me if the neck profile is any chunkier on the G&L Doheny vs any bolt-on neck Reverend? The neck's on Revs are nice, but a bit too small to be 'inspiring'.

For the folks at G&L - why is this model only available with the Modern Classic neck profile? I was all set to order one and then told I couldn't get it with the Classic C shape. That's a deal breaker for me, the MC shape is too thin.
I'm wondering how quiet those P-90s are...?

The aren't p-90s, they're MFD pickups. G&L pickups are some of the quietest single coils out there

I have been looking everywhere for this 3 tone sunburst with the white pickgaurd and I can't find it anywhere! Was this a limited run finish?

I have the Doheny V12 it comes with 21 i must say that's all it misses manageable but 22 would be sweet a bunch

these are not all created equal, I just got one expecting those pickups and I get 2 single coils and the hum is horrible. 1,600 dollars apparentlyfor another hundred or two you get the humbuckers.
I'd like to see this as a Tribute model for guys like me that can't drop $1K and up on a guitar.

Why? The beauty of Jazzmaster type guitars are the pickups. Why not just get an SG if you want humbuckers?

It starts at the same price as S-500.
+ Shimby G&L are made to order so price will depend on what level of customisation you want. In Australia Ithe distributor has suggested these are going to be selling for around $US1600 and up. So typical US made guitar price from any of the usual suspects.

Owning a surfboard does not make you a surfer. Making a "surf-inspired" guitar and not making a video of it playing through a spring reverb tank does not make it a surf guitar. Please make another video and play it properly.
I liked and sub’d, for the sole reason that you called the bridge system a vibrato at the end. The only thing that Leo did that I don’t like is he reversed the terms “tremolo” and “vibrato”

Nice guitar and a good review, but the recording in the background of the video is extremely annoying and detracts from it.

YES!!! The manufacturer's website writes it up as a guitar inspired by the 60s surf rock genre and names it after a famous surfers' beach. You've got my attention G&L! But no videos of it playing through drippy spring reverb!? I want to be convinced to buy this versus of a Mosrite clone, but need some aural persuasion.
Killer guitar. Odd name, for a guitar anyway. Doesn't really jive with the other model names too. Shouldn't matter but it bothers me.
...i love everything about g&l guitars except the clunky, chunky, noisy design of that dual fulcrum trem bridge. i own a number of ASATs but, sadly, i've had to sell all my legacies. i keep hoping they will re-think it.
CrossCurrents Caledon I have a 1994 Legacy. The bridge is the smoothest, most amazing vibrato I've ever used. Better than prs
