- The full trailer has been released for Diego Maradona, a feature-length documentary about the Argentinian legend's time at Italian club Napoli. Produced from over 500 hours of footage from Maradona's personal archive by the Academy Award-winning team behind Senna and Amy, the film will trace his on and off the pitch exploits in Italy during the 1980s. Diego Maradona will premiere at the Cannes film festival, before hitting cinemas on 14 June.

True. That's what made him the GOAT. But talent wise, Messi is better than any other player in the history of football. He just hasn't been able to live up to it in crucial moments.

I mean, Diego in this barcelona side would've shattered every possible record Messi has. The only thing messi has on Diego is the merchandising machine barcelona backed him with. Check a video where a spanish journalist compares the two, and the kind of things Diego did, Messi has never done.

He delivered when it mattered, no one comes near him, he did things we will never see again.
Was very inconsistent, disappeared in European Cups and was a drug addict. Quality wise he's a B grade Messi, except with great leadership skills. This is a fact. Half his goals were against farmers in Argentina. You may rack up likes, simply because here is full of his fans who understandably do not want to let go of their precious past.

The extreme poverty and ignorance in which he grew up shaped him and could not prepare him for being the most adored figure on the planet. The English will obviously never forget his betrayal of sportsmanship but that’s what Maradona was, a flawed genius, and that makes him more human, without justifying him for his behaviour. On a football level I have not seen since any player like Maradona capable of winning games on his own so consistently. He had the talent and the strength to do what he wanted. His understanding and usage, not only of the ball physics but also his body and the ground on which he played all contributed to his dazzling skills. With Maradona The ball would touch the ground and swerve just the way he wanted, he would slice the ball to effect and dose absolute delicacy or strength as necessary. He could do with his feet more than most people can do with their hands.
I mean you literally describe messi when talking about Maradonas play. Both great and so similar that i personally would give the edge to messi because competition is better today and he dominates and has for a decade plus now

I have never seen a better player than Maradona and so consistent as Messi is. They re both wonderful players. But my vote goes for Maradona. And football was harder and more difficult back then.

Very aptly put. Infact his influence was beyond cultures and geographies. Even now, in my native Bengal, an obscure corner of the world, kids look up in awe to his apologetically drawn wall paintings and grab their football a little bit tigher. Enfant terrible, no doubt but even more than that, a human being who gave more joy, to more people, than anyone ever can. An enigma in himself.
Stunning to watch
I saw this documentary on a plane. Wow I totally misunderstood him. I was too young to see him play but only heard stories about him and videos on youtube. But man I judged him too early. Now I'm spreading the message to everyone who thought the same way as I did.

I was only 6 when the 1990 WC happened. I was sitting in India, miles away from Argentina when i became fan of the original GOAT. This bond had no logic but emotions always defies logic. Since then Maradona and Argentina is synonymous to my existence. I read the book El Diego several times and cried..cried like a child.. this one will surely make me emotional.
