One of Rogue Creamery's blue cheeses won the World Cheese Awards last year. First time an American winner, first time a blue cheese.. Also everything they make is amazing just saying.

I used to make deliveries to G.P. back in the mid-''80s and I'm glad to hear that aspect hasn't changed. I loved driving into your town back then, I was delighted and charmed, I loved it.

@@rory4814 I personally know that feeling. I lived in CJ for 10 years. GP is a step up, but not much better. It only seems "not poor" because literally everyone under 40 is splitting rent X ways for a home that has X-1 rooms.

Also, Rogue Creamery legit won an award for the best cheese in the world, and it is totally worth the farts.
I work in Central Point and our business does work for the Rogue Creamery. Actually just went there for the first time today. My mom was up from right over the border in California and she wanted to check it out.
I love getting cheese curds there, then heading over to Lillie Belle Farms for some amazing hand-made chocolate, another award winning shop.

Dr. Codd at Lincoln Road is the best veterinarian! And laugh if you will, but the Enlightened Living Faire is fun. :-)

Moved there in 1959; GPHS class '67! My home is now Southern Oregon Bigfoot Center!
One other fun fact about the town, they have an In-N-Out burger place. It used to be the most northern restaurant in their chain. Now its the Kaiser, Or restaurant a little North of Salem, Or.
When you visit the area don't forget the Oregon Caves in Cave Junction!
Then get on Hwy 62 (near Medford) and head up to Crater Lake national park.

@@codywebb3610 lava tubes are out by klamath falls well kinda. The Oregon caves are limestone and very beautiful costs like 20$ for a guided tour.
Grants Pass is a small town?? With more than 30,000 people? Well, I live in Coquille, Oregon, and we have a little over 4,000 people! THAT is a small town!
To big city folk, anything under 100,000 is small.

The farmers market moved indoors from November - May. Iʻm headed to the Grants Pass farmerʻs market in the next few minutes.
The Grower's Market in Medford opened last week.
Funny you should mention that because of the recent riots between normal people and fanatical pro-lifers at the saturday market.
Grew up in Grants Pass and after living all over the state of Oregon I came back and live here now. I love it here as it is a beautiful place to call home. Ty Burrell went to the same high school that I did. Hidden Valley High School represent!

Great bit! Loved it! My family is from that area, though I now live in Portland. Grants Pass was named for the path that Captain Ulysses Grant took from the Oregon Trail to Fort Humboldt in Northern California, where he served as Commandant for a couple of years before resigning his commission. He was later recommissioned as a general during the Civil War. You may have heard of him.

When I was in high school, we used to call their marching band Grass Pants.

Ironically, no. Their high school also has a turf field, so you wouldn't even get grass stains from marching there. Their uniforms last I checked are black jumpers and shoes with blue and silver tops. They've been in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade within the past 10 years, so imagined if you googled it, you would be able to see a clip of them. I think they were the first Oregon band in the parade in something like 40 years.
We do have the best marching band in oregon tho

Grants Pass is a short drive from Ashland where they have the Shakespearian Festival including 4 or 5 theaters and almost year-long plays. It's a very active, vibrant community.

Both. I know Oregon has the most breweries of any state, not sure about vineyards but probably the most dispensaries as well.
Medford has definitely transitioned from pears to wine. Not sure what's happening out in GP though

I was born in Escanaba Michigan, but I grew up in Springfield Oregon, known for absolutely nothing! (Except for being across the river from Eugene Oregon, and right next to Glenwood) and having the Broiler Festival, to eat murdered chickens.
Its also the Springfield the Simpson's is modeled after :) Grant's pass native here.

Growing up in Oregon, we thought it was so funny to call Grants Pass, Grass Pants.
I loved Ty Burrell in "Out Of Practice". Such a shame they only made one series.
