  • I show you step by step how to remove a super turbine 400 (brother to a TH400) out of a 66 Buick wildcat! This video would apply to most muscle cars of the 60s and 70s with many similarities for this procedure. Off to be rebuilt at the trans shop. 💪🏼 #musclecar #projectcars #carcommunity

Love that Wildcat! I didn't know those had a two piece driveshaft and the switch pitch converter. Very cool. Those mid 60s GM B bodies are high quality classics and were just built beefy. I had a 66 Pontiac Starchief 2 dr hardtop with a TH400, it was a fantastic running car, I should have never sold it.

Thanks my man! This car has a lot of cool features, factory sway bar, front and rear coil springs, full chassis, AC, gobs of torque! That’s a cool car wish you still had it too

Good job on pulling the trans out. FYI 2 things, the wire on the side of the trans the switch up top is for the kick down or passing gear. The wire rappd around the linkage some one did that cause the linkage was missing a tension spring at the pivot rod. Chances are the pump is good as the pump on this unit. The trans might be neeing an overhaul or something stupid like the filter in it fell out causing a no suction of fluid from the pan. Good luck....MOPAR 4 EVER.

Thank you for the comments, and yes you’re correct that goes to activate the kick down to the trans from the carb setup. Hopefully the pump is good the trans shop said they think it’s likely something else that the pump is hard to kill, we shall see soon. Will post an update video when I get it back! Thanks again man

When we were young and stupid, in early 1980's high school, a friend of mine inherited a '67 Riviera with the brand new 430 engine & the last Super Turbine 400 with switch-pitch. It kills me to think that car went to the junkyard, because even THEN It was difficult to find a new head for the engine after he cooked it after, get this, doing his due diligence and checking all the fluids before leaving on a road trip - but also leaving the rag under the hood, which got sucked in and popped the fan belts. Oh, and another reason it was hard to find the part was because it was also a GS! More power, posi rear end, and the one-year-only red plastic fluted dual snorkel air cleaner with the big chrome knob in the middle, AKA the 'Star Wars' air cleaner. It is to weep...
