I really enjoyed your thumbstick video. I noticed a few knobkerries in your workshop - would love to see a video on how you make those, including how you select the right wood for them.
great video and craftmanship, I use acrylics a lot and make my own palette with kitchen towel (wet) and greaseproof or tracing paper on top, also you can get an extender for the paints which prevents them from drying out too quickly giving more working time too which is always a bonus. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Simon. Good to see how you do the painting. You make it look sooooo simple! I am very happy with the one you made for me. I was half expecting to see it, when you were showing various designs that you have done.
Absolutely brilliant! Your a natural in what you do but also a natural in the manner in which you are able to put it over. Thanks alot, you've already inspired me to make my own sticks.
Thanks so much Paul, I love hearing comments like tis. ~Its one of the reasons i do the films, to encourage others!!👍🏼👊Thanks again and good luck with the sticks👍🏼
Great addition to your first video with really practical advice on the paint, never tried it before but you’ve widened my horizon to infinity! Anything is possible!!!!
Just goes to show you don't have to wear a berret and studied at a prestigious art establishment for god knows how many years ! Very talented Simon cracking range of subjects you showed on the sticks at the end of the video.👍
Hello Simon, You've done a cracking job of those thumbsticks, You are a very talented person, whether that be in the photography or artistic fields. I always love your videos, they are always of interest...😃👍👍
That's some talent, the only sticks I have made are with antler. As a knife maker, I keep all my stabilised cutoffs from my handles. So I'll have to make some tumbsticks 😊
Superb tutorial, fantastic results,, sadly, paintings like this, are beyond the skill of ordinary people.. The main element required, is artistic skill, which 99% of us, don't have. !! You're a lucky man, to be born with this ability, it's something you either have, or you haven't.. Imho.. So, I for one, will be giving it a miss,, rather than carrying around a stick, with a red blob on, which looks like something a 4 year old, has daubed on,, Ha ha ha....
Lovely work! As soon as that varnish hit the robin, I half expected it to take flight. Made a world of difference. It really brought out the grain in the oak as well. I don't have access to hazel here in the states, but I do have yellow birch which makes beautiful sticks. That spacer of buffalo horn made a great transition between the two. I'll have to try a horn spacer on my next yellow birch two-piece stick.
Hi Simon Andrew in Ottawa Canada, We have messaged before Wanted to say what a great video and your creativity is amazing along with your talent Cheers for sharing If I am able to purchase one of your sticks, let me know Cheers Andrew
Simon ,what a talent you are. I'm referring back to your new camo jacket, is it as quiet as wool when moving through thick dry bush? As I'm now living in Aus the weight sounds perfect. Thanks & atb .
Fabulous videos Simon, if you don’t mind me asking what price do you sell your walking sticks for ? Just a rough idea I have made one or two but don’t know how much to charge! 🤷♂️ thank you regards Steve
Sorry my message was cut short , should have said excellent value for money, mine are more £30 maybe 🤷♂️ but great videos please do more regarding sticks. Regards Steve

@@simoneardley No there not going to be cheap, what with the multitude of different skills that go into them, but like I said "you can use yours as sticks" they are only display pieces but just the same, one in the corner of the room would be nice $$$$$. Tek care
Hi I enjoy your stick making videos, just a quick question do you have the painted side towards you or on the other side away from you when using the stick.

What a beautiful job, I love the hand crafted staff. Do you intend to sell these on your Etsy site.
Thanks Steve, no plans to put the sticks on at the moment but possibly in the future. There are a couple on there at the moment but not thumb sticks.
Fantastic from start to finish. Please can I ask if you used a primer before applying your paint ?
Hi Simon do you sell the sticks am a salmon angler wouldn’t mind one for wading I fly fish a lot let me know these are brilliant
Hi I enjoy your stick making videos, just a quick question do you have the painted side towards you or on the other side away from you when using the stick.
Hi, I generally have a design on both sides of the stick so its just personal preference. I'll be honest I dont really think about it.
Simon, that is such a talent you have but, Galeria is 'Galla reeah' and not 'Galeeriah'.
Thanks, however its pronounced its good paint 👍🤣🤣
Damned.
After watching this, even writing my name seems hard....
🤣🤣
How much do you sell the thumb sticks for I'm interested in a buzzard or a kestrel one , my name is paul
