I have the joy of doing this job on the son in laws freelander this week. Only problem is I am doing it on the deck , I have a 3 ton trolley jack and heavy duty axle stands but I bet its going to be a B*****D getiing them out and back in. Thanks for the inspiration and cussing nice to see someone who is a real mechanic these days. Cheers Fella.
Graeme Keenan lol you will have no problem with that mate I think I've done a wheel bearing on this vehicle have video it can't remember if not I have done wheel bearing videos and they are pretty much the same
Great video.....love the 'real' troubles and torments. Just bought a Freelander for my daughter and we are going to be working on it together. Lots of info on here and other videos you have posted. We don't have a lift but almost everything else so it might take more time but we should get there eventually. Keep posting, please!!
Done mine a few times over the years. Found it a lot simpler if you drop the prop off the Diff. Made getting the Front Mount off easier. You will need a TORX socket to get it off.
thanks for vid....I found it easier to axle stand so both wheels are off the ground....undo all hanger bolts then removal of old mounts was easier due to more movement....also easier to fit new ones....quite an easy job...thanks for heads up on what to expect....
Mate, great video, with a good honest approach. A bit of swearing when it doesn't work out .. confession when it's your fault. Great viewing. Thanks for putting it up. I wish real bodge mechs could be half as good as you.
Brilliant - mine were shot - I got my hands very dirty! - Now wondering what damage this bushing being buggered has done to my diff and how I can tell..
another great vid...thanks...i think the front diff mounting is a weak point as i had mine changed under a year ago and its already gone..i intend to now fit a polly duraflex one to stop this problem repeating again and again..they are only about 15 quid but will last a long long time i recon.
get a 800mm long or there abouts put it between the subframe and diff and lever the diff upwards and you get enough room to get the mount out. it works cos I dunnit
Hi great video, the Mrs TD4 failed it's MOT today due to this as one of the reasons. I tinker with both her TD4 and my D3 TDV6 what are torque settings of the bolts on both the 13 and 15mm bolts? Thanks. Keep up the good work
Great & very helpful videos ,I have to do this job on the sisters freelander at the weekend.Just one question .Do you use a 13mm & 15mm socket to remove the retaining bolts on Diff mounting bushes .Thanks for your help .Peter.
osama alm hi mate unfortunate I don't really understand what you are trying to say if something is gone then replace it if your bushings are worn replace them
bodgit and leggit garage . Hi i just want to ask . I have freelander 1999. The four support mounts engine is very bad . There need to replace it . But they are very expensive. Could I rebuild them by putting polyurethane in them ?
osama alm well it's definitely possible but you have to make sure you get them 100% lined up which will be very difficult if you can do this then go for it
very good videos on what i have seen on internet they say use a jig or take measurements to keep the diff central . is this really important when freelander has been converted into two wheel drive cheers
bodgit and leggit garage i was thinking about getting another landy, a freelander, might think twice about it lol, good vids mate, educating the layman
You said you did that bushing wrong to show us . Dont lie Leon. You made a mistake so tell the truth .your a great mechanic. We all make mistakes we are only human. 🤔
I'm not sure if you're actually being serious you could see I was being sarcastic of course I made a mistake that's why I made a joke about it in the video you obviously don't get sarcasm
There's always a balance between comfort and and reliability or how things left what I mean by that is the harder rubber you put in the stiffer the ride will be more uncomfortable

thanks mate and thanks for watching
Release back mounts and the diff moves enough to get out and replace .... no need to drop sub frame
Brilliant - mine were shot - I got my hands very dirty! - Now wondering what damage this bushing being buggered has done to my diff and how I can tell..

Hi mate this is when it pays to get the more expensive main dealer parts or the equivalent OEM parts they do last longer
thanks that is my next project still not looking forward to it. but i know what coming
well have fun mate and get your hands dirty lol
My td4 freelander 1 failed mot Friday due to these mounts so got to do these when they arrive 🤦♂️ on the ground with jacks
Wish me luck
Easy on the ground. Remove wheels and exhaust mounts . Long extension bar for the back mounts .. copper grease bolts on install
get a 800mm long or there abouts put it between the subframe and diff and lever the diff upwards and you get enough room to get the mount out. it works cos I dunnit
Sorted
A question - when refixing the old bolts - do you use any molygrease/copperease to ease later dissasembly?

A want a ford hat
Ok go to the shops
Only 1 bush for the front seems like a poor design. Also the original bush has gaps in it. Is there any way to upgrade the front bush?
There's always a balance between comfort and and reliability or how things left what I mean by that is the harder rubber you put in the stiffer the ride will be more uncomfortable
You need a 'swear box'
Hablas mucho pero haces poco, muestras poco, de como hay que desinstalar e instalar los tacos…friend.
