  • If you're taking the time to write things in a journal, why do so in a boring, cookie-cutter design that anyone can go pick up from the store? Instead, follow along as I walk through how to upgrade your journal covers to a sturdier, much better looking material. You can even take it one step further and engrave or burn a design into your new wooden cover (I don't cover it in the video, but I used my laser engraver on a couple).
    If you want to try it out, here's a journal on Amazon that should work (affiliate link):

      Haha, yeah. Oddly orange has been my primary wardrobe color since at least middle school... I'm just glad there's wood that matches 😅

      Thanks! And yeah, the temperature went from the teens when I started this, down to just above zero when I finished filming. 🥶

    Thank you for making me appreciate my basement shop.... Minnesota is not ideal for a garage shop. Woodworking with winter gloves is an extra challenge but you seem to do fine anyway.

      Haha, you're welcome 😅. And I'm doing what I can to set my basement up for other non-woodworking styles of making. So I can make stuff and not freeze.

    I have a couple granddaughters that may like to have a personalized note/sketch book.

      It's a pretty simple build! I encourage you to give it a shot. If don't want to tackle it yourself, I will have custom journals for sale on my website soon, but you can email me and we can work out the details before I get that listing ready also. 🙂👍

      @@BearMaked I would probably customize them on the laser or CNC for the girls

      @@ericjohnson6456 that's a great idea. I've already made a couple with custom covers via my laser.

    Very interesting Bear bottom, i mean Bear maked😜😎. Hope you are going to do some projects with the longmill cnc. Its going to be a couple months before they have stock so i`m hoping to see youtubers like yourself show a couple projects and give us your overall review after working with it for a bit.

      Haha, thanks! I just finished up my second project with it, unfortunately, wasn't planning a video for that one. But there will be some coming up! So far, I really like having this thing at my command.

    • @BearMaked
      @BearMaked  4 роки тому

      Haha! It's a Craftsman something. Akin to the Rikon 8" model, I believe. The guy I bought it from said it was exactly the same saw, I just don't have the model number handy.

      @BradsWorkbench 4 роки тому

      @@BearMaked ahhhh the 10"... i know exactly the one you're talking about. I had given them a look but didnt think the resaw power would be there. Maybe ill have to look again

    • @BearMaked
      @BearMaked  4 роки тому

      @@BradsWorkbench Yeah, 10" seems right. And I haven't maxed it out, but it's handled resawing this paduak, and some walnut, and red oak pretty easily.

    • @BradsWorkbench
      @BradsWorkbench 4 роки тому

      @@BearMaked whats the thickest resaw you've done? Pretty slow going?

    • @BearMaked
      @BearMaked  4 роки тому

      @@BradsWorkbench Probably 8". Yeah. I don't have a lot of experience resawing anyway, so I take it slow to be safe. But the saw came with a beefy blade, so that helps.
