I hate to be that guy but the Marshmellow experiment was proven to be not actually conclusive about the long-term success of individuals. Malcolm Gladwell got into how there's a stronger correlation between how much money the families of the kids have, and the actual ability of the kids to delay gratification. They tried reproducing this experiment with larger sample sizes and the results were more inconclusive IIRC. The message is good though.
Money is not the determiner of strength or weakness. That's a correlation someone wantedvl to make politically, almost exonerating the poor from being able to choose effectively. If we are taught we're taught.
Maybe, but children are the focus of this study. Children who are born into poverty don't usually have a say or an effect on whatever choices their parents made, both the good ones and the suboptimal ones. Of course, I can hypothetically imagine parents who can teach their kids to be patient and resolute regardless of whatever environment they grew up in. It's just harder when you can't guarantee a certain amount of meals for your kids every week.
Thank you Charlie Harary
Amen.
