- This was supposed to be a simple review of my sought after awesome Nikon coolpix 990, a 3.34 mp old school digcam from 2000.
But..... the Memory card made me smile, the images were amazing and I'd like to share them.

Cool Video. I picked up a Coolpix 995 in like new condition on eBay for $7 from the Flint Salvation Army store. It was listed for parts/not working but when I got it, it was like new. New battery and it works great. Only downside is the internal clock capacitor is fried. So, every time I remove the battery, I have to reset the date and time but other than that It's great. Mine also had some old images on it but nothing nearly as interesting as what you found. Thanks for sharing!
AND , you contributed to a great charity ! Just had word that one of our family, a world traveler and photographer who sadly passed during the pandemic had a collection of SD and CF cards in storage…. I’m pretty excited to glance through his work… these old cards and memories are gold ! Oh and I’m reviewing the 4500 next week ;-) …. Also from a charity store
This was my first digital camera. I wouldn't buy one until they reached 3mp. When the 990 came out, I spent the $999.99 to get one. I loved it. I just wish the video had audio. I still have it. I followed it with a Canon EOS Rebel XS, and now a Canon R6 Mark II.
I still have the only SLR I bought, a Pentax Super Program. All still work.
I love the super program for its size and snappy functionality! Wow 999 , that’s big money for the day heck it’s big money now
@robbellphoto Digital wasn't cheap when it came out, just like the first HDTVs about 32 inches cost $20,000.
I worked in computer distribution back then. 128mb memory cards were hundreds lol ! Flat screens were insane. Crazy times
yes this photo is fking crazy. i don't know why my coolpix 990 can hold 32GB CF CARD but the card only read on window

:-( sounds like she’s dead in the water. Cut your losses and grab another one. They sell for sub $20 so not worth the trouble I’d say for sure ! I actually have one boxed for $30 that works if you’re interested DM me ;-)
