- A 13-minute visit to the rue Mouffetard in Paris, a small street in the Latin Quarter famous for its food shops. The video starts just outside the Maubert-Mutualité station of the Métro and then works its way down towards the south, following the street that eventually becomes the rue Mouffetard. Other things seen include the former École Polytechnique (1:55) and the rue du Cardinal Lemoine and place de la Contrescarpe (4:21), where Ernest Hemingway used to live (4:36). The market porition of the street, the rue Mouffetard proper, begins at 5:56.

They are beautiful videos. No frills or music cluttering the experience. I have never been and hope to one day. These videos make me feel as if I am there already.

Excellent video! We stayed in this neighborhood, on Rue Tournefort, last summer---and will return this summer--to a flat on Rue Descartes. I love the area, the ambiance....a little gritty, but very Parisian. Thank you for sharing!

I miss that little street so much. I stay on or near it every year ( except this one because France won't let me in the country). Wish you had stopped and turned the camera towards the interior of Verre A Pied, my favorite little family owned place. It's so charming. And I don't think I saw Dose. Otherwise, you got it all. Great to see this- thank you so much for posting! I haven't been in Le Mouff since 2002, but it's good to see some things haven't changed. The Cinema L'Epee du Bois, the L'Arbe de Voyageur bookstore, even the raclette restaurant are still there. However- Subway?! Arrrrgh- what an excrescence!

@moofushu You're right. Several scenes were filmed on this street. One was a scene in a phone booth on the rue Clovis, which isn't seen in the video (it was on the intersection seen in the distance at about 3:10 in this video). The other was at the Verre à Pied restaurant, which you can see in this video on the right at about 10:40 (green facade with some people sitting in front).

Thank you so much for this excellent video which took me very close to a hotel I have stayed at several times. St. Medard church was very close to that hotel. Metro line #7 was the line I used frequently from Gobelin Station. All of your videos are excellent and some of your captions are rather humorous too.

@Spartan01117: I no longer have the dailies, but as I recall it was shot mostly late in the summer of 2011, around August/September.
@TheFraigo I try to make videos for two groups: People who have never been to these places in Paris, and people who have. In both cases, just a simple documentary video seems to work best, and memories (or dreams, for those who haven't been here yet) do the rest.
I do have a gadget that stabilizes the camera quite well, but I rarely use it because it attracts too much unwanted attention. This video, like most of my videos, was shot using just the built-in optical stabilization in the camera, which works pretty good but isn't perfect.
Thanks again for another walk through my favorite city!. Perhaps you could walk along the Rue Saint Antoine or Boulevard Henri IV, s'il vous plait?

Si vous voulez vivre en France, surtout n'habitez pas et ne travaillez pas à Paris, vous allez devenir fou. c'est une chose de faire du tourisme, c'est une autre chose que de vivre dans une ville où il faut toujours courir.

The stabilization is just the stabilization built into the camera (a consumer-grade Sony Handycam).

there is a hostel called the young and happy on this street it is not the cleanest or m

We wee there in, I think, 2011, 8th Ard. Man, I love Paris. We did the trip all on our own, via the Internet. Stayed at the 7th Ifiel Hotel, near the Le Infidels house (sorry, my memory and French are horrible). Anyway, if I had to escape, it would be Paris or southern Italy (another post). Cheers!!!

Ce n'est plus du tout la rue Mouffetard de mon enfance. J'ai grandi dans le quartier, à l'époque c'était un quartier populaire. Maintenant ce ne sont que des magasins chers, des bobos et des restaurants pour touristes. L' âme véritable de la rue Mouffetard a disparue, hélas 😥

the real amazing street is rue du pot-de-fer which is perpendicular to rue Mouffetard, just goes there and head to La Montagne Sans Geneviève

It's possible to squeak by in Paris with just English (like Emily in Paris on Netflix), but it's obviously a much nicer experience if you learn some of the local language.
