Watched them in Los Angeles County when I was 11 in 1972…. It’s great to see Doug and EmmyJo, cannot believe so much time has passed, they look Great!!
I loved this show as a kid!!! I even got my nephews hooked on it!!! I was about 17 when they were about 5,6 and 7 . I was still watching it with them!!!
What a classic program. It was a clean and nice show. Life and being a kid was fun then. We would run home from school to look at and then call our cousins to discuss. No cell phones, no cable to pay to see.
I'm 52 ..I remember watching it before kindergarten...I had the t shirts and underwear too....I loved this show so much it brought tears to my eyes seeing this interview
I used to love this show! I'm 60 now and remember it being on weekday mornings at some ungodly hour! I'd watch before going to school. I was already in junior high school when I discovered it, but still enjoyed it. Years later while working on Wall Street, there was a girl who was "very large" and her dresses used to remind me of Henritta Hippo's. I started calling her "Henrietta", not to her face of course, but it became a nickname for her between myself and a few colleagues. And I can sing the lyrics to the opening credits, word for word! Thanks!
Wow!!! Great to catch up with Doug and Emmy Jo! How lovely they have been together all these years. I grew up with The New Zoo Review. Great memories 💕 so glad to hear there is a resurgence!!! Love that show and all the dear characters💕
Growing up in the NYC area, New Zoo Revue or the reruns were seen on channel 5, WNEW/WNYW. And to Doug and Emmy Jo...the years have been good to the two of you and you live in OHIO. I would've thought Hollywood would be your locale. And I never knew you were married and now have been more than 50 years. We gotta know...what's the secret formula that keeps it going? Oh...and Freddy is ALWAYS looking to cause mischief. And that Charlie the Owl...WHAT A HOOT. By the way, game show legend Chuck Woolery, before he hosted a little show called Wheel of Fortune in 1975, was on NZR, playing Mr. Dingle.
In Brooklyn in 1972 on Channel 11, I, and my cats, and my melted American "cheese " on Wonder "bread" would be in front of the TV 6am sharp for Henrietta Hippo. PS Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse was bad ass too.
Amazing! This was an important part of my childhood (although sorry, even as a 7 year old, I hated the music). They both look great. But Doug... if I ran into him, I'd know immediately.
A classic children's show...congrats to Doug & Emmy Jo on their 53 years together, and was it just me, or did the "Time" song from that one clip have kind of a Doobie Brothers vibe?
The show was syndicated in the Philippines back in the late 80s and early 90s on the former IBC 13. I thought this was produced in the 60s due to the fashion, but it was from the early 70s. Still, some of the best shows never dubbed in Tagalog that degrade the quality of the modern shows aired on local channel today.
Okay, you were part of my childhood and I am so grateful! Please answer this burning question I have always wondered about, why did Dougs clothes not change in the intro but the beautiful Emmy jo went from red, white and blue to pink?
Why was Doug, "the teacher" of the animals, while Emmie-Jo played the secondary role of "Dougs helper"? Its patriarchal and oppressive, not healthy for children.
I absolutely loved the show when I was a kid. I'm 61 and have very fond memories of it.
Emmy Jo is still beautiful!!
I loved this show!! I’m 56 and still remember all the words to the opening song! ❤
Watched them in Los Angeles County when I was 11 in 1972…. It’s great to see Doug and EmmyJo, cannot believe so much time has passed, they look Great!!
I watched it when I was little!! I loved that show!
WOW, Doug and Emmy Jo have been married for 53 years, the New Zoo Revue was a super awesome 1970's children's show!!
I am 52 and I will be 53 later this year. I remembered watching this as a child.
When I was 4 I had a crush on Emmy-Jo.
Who didn't, I wonder if she still has some of those mini-skirts.
I had a crush on her myself, at 8 or 9 years old.....but, who didn't, right?!
A show that I think gets very overlooked! Loved watching it weekend mornings where I lived!
My goodness. I was just watching some clips on UA-cam. I'm 55. Those were so much memories
Wow. I havent seen that show since I was real little. I almost thought I'd imagined it.
I loved this show as a kid!!! I even got my nephews hooked on it!!! I was about 17 when they were about 5,6 and 7 . I was still watching it with them!!!

I'm 52, and I know exactly what you mean...
This show was amazing. We used to watch it as kids.
I remember watching them on Saturday mornings as a kid. I loved Doug and Emmy Jo!!!!
"Emmy Jo" is from El Paso! I did not know! WOW! i'm in her hometown now,
p.s. I saw New Zoo Revue when it aired on Channel 62 I believe, back in the mid-late 90s.
it would come on Sunday mornings.
Loved this show when I was a kid!!! I’m 55 now and still watch it from time to time.
I LOVED this show growing up in the 70s. Henrietta Hippo…Freddie Frog…its the new zoo revue coming straight to you!!
Loved New Zoo Revue as a kid. Never knew Doug & Emmy Jo were married to each other till today !!

Great childhood memories!

I grew up watching this show! My favorite was Henrietta the hippo.
Big part of my after school tv watching
Love them
Omg. They’re married. I watched this as a little girl.
I love this show
Love you guys! 💕
Where did the time go? I love them as much as Bozo .
There are New Zoo Revue bloopers. Pretty hilarious.
I use to watch this show ❤
I was 17, living in San Diego. We would smoke weed and watch it. That was a whole new perspective.
I never knew they were married!!!
Same here!
In Brooklyn in 1972 on Channel 11, I, and my cats, and my melted American "cheese " on Wonder "bread" would be in front of the TV 6am sharp for Henrietta Hippo.
PS
Courageous Cat & Minute Mouse was bad ass too.
Freddie the Frog was my favorite.
Wow...Doug and Emmy Jo knew the KROFFTS?!? Yeah!
I knew they were bosses! These two are an amazing couple in real life. They've been blessed for sure!
Amazing! This was an important part of my childhood (although sorry, even as a 7 year old, I hated the music).

yo cuando tenia 5 años vi ese pograma
I didn't know it was on WGN!
I thought New Zoo Revue was only broadcast on WMAQ-TV in the Chicago area.
The show was syndicated in the Philippines back in the late 80s and early 90s on the former IBC 13.
I thought this was produced in the 60s due to the fashion, but it was from the early 70s.

WNEW NYC (now WNYW FOX 5)&HSN aired this.

Everyday before school
Chuck Woolery was one of the characters, too.
Emmy Jo was a hottie!
Still looking good.
For once, Dean Richards wasn't there, for the celebrity interview. Larry and Robin do just fine, without him.
Why was Doug, "the teacher" of the animals, while Emmie-Jo played the secondary role of "Dougs helper"? Its patriarchal and oppressive, not healthy for children.
I was so mad when they put this stupid show on in place of Mr. goober, and morning cartoons
It sucked then and it sucks now lol
