There's this special thing about the way Frieren recalls Himmel. For someone who's been around for over a thousand years and is accustomed to time flying by, we can see how much she hold onto those tiny moments they shared (+ the hero party) It's just so lovely, yet filled with the heartbreaking realization of a love recognized way too late. Delving into Himmel's character through Frieren's memories, especially as she discovers more about humanity, is a delightful surprise every time. The recent manga chapters are also killing me but no spoilers! Thank you for this beautiful edit ; - ;

The kicker for me, and the moment in episode 1 that I realized Himmel loved Frieren, was that he was a lonely old man. He never married, never had children, and never moved on from Frieren, because he was content with waiting for her to return to him.

@@muwnleyet that feeling when a manga you love got an anime adaptation that surpassed all expectations honestly the manga felt amazing already, didn't even thought it'd get this amount of effort put into the adaptation like man the anime is so colorful to the point the scenes just hits harder the soundtracks gives so much atmosphere too it feels so immersive to me it made me want to stand on a field of grass beneath the wide blue sky

This series subtly did the best “what does it mean to be human” trope ever. Frieren meeting Himmel gave her perspective that Serie will never understand despite her vast and endless knowledge.
I just realized the clock tower symbolizes the only thing that stands between them - time. Time for Frieren to Love. Time that Himmel doesn't have. Time that stands between them. Time that will take them apart.

It’s really cool to see how Himmel even after his death, changed something in everyone of his party. Not just because of what he did, but because who he was

I'm very obsessed with the bit at 0:41 where Himmel goes to kneel down with the strum of the guitar and how the softness of the song from this point matches the softness of the ring scene so well! You have an impeccable sense for timing and flow that I am very envious of haha

Himmel was synonymous to what Ai was in oshi no ko. Both characters died in the first episode and continued to influence the rest of the story in every way imaginable.

The right person, not enough time.
For a character who died on episode one, he is quite popular if not the most popular. I feel like he is so popular because of the memories and impression he left before leaving us on episode 1 being so great that it lasts a lifetime. And just like frieren, we only knew him from one episode.
And this is why immortality is a curse. Watching all your loved ones leave and be left alone. I could never live like that

I cried by seeing frieren crying like the entire anime is soo beautiful and it's a sad story
I couldn't help but think that the memories left behind by someone, truly is something so precious to be held by the person it was left for
This reminds me of how my father used to take so much pictures and records of our family having fun, always asking why he keeps taking pictures and recordings everytime we're having fun. Only to realize that all of these pictures and moving memories of the past are the golden essence of our lives, it was only when my father passed away that we realize.. the memories he's been leaving for us, the hard work he's been doing for us, and the smiles he has left for us, is so that we won't be so lonely the moment he passes away
Himmel wasn't trying to pose so the statues would look cool. He did so only to make the statues emmit a similar energy of emotion Himmel always gives off back when he was alive. He did so to remind Frieren of a certain part of the memory their party once shared in that place. He did so to remind Frieren, that Himmel was once alive.

Beutiful, never thought an anime would make me think about how i live fr, it hurts the fact the we sometimes dont give value to those who love us, and this hitted me hard cuz i know ive done somw shit in my life that i regret, and the worst one was not spending much time along with the people who loved me, i wanted to go to the path fr, well, i hope everyone who read this or watched the series can reflect a bit of how u want to spend ur time, cuz we dont last forever, no one, spend time with those you love, everything can change fast sadly and time doesnt wait for anyone.

Their story is so good I’d actually Watch a one or two season long spin off of the party of heroes and them defeating the demon king. Frieren is so good that it could perfectly cook up a prequel.

Frieren is so dense that she didn't realize that Himmel really love him. Yet she realized that she should have known him better but even though their ten year adventure is nothing to her.
Spoiler, she did actually realise she loved him by the way. They were once both caught in a dream state by the strongest sage and Frieren leaned in for a kiss but he pulled away. So she did know she had feelings but she ignored them because he also ignored them. They both knew they would not live long enough to love
