Hi Saran! Thank you for stopping by to watch me be a goofball on youtube. 😂 I'm glad to see you on here and that you're going to do this trail. Let me know if you have any other questions (either on here or by PM) and I'll be more than happy to help you out.
I'm so glad you liked the video and felt that it covered everything. I really liked this trail, it's such a diverse area with so much to see! Thank you for the sub and for taking the time to comment!
Great video!! Thanks for reaching out to us! We will plan to do the trail in March or April as you suggested!!! That was awesome about the cemetery! While watching you explore it I was thinking it would be great to get a clean up together to work on the cemetery! So awesome to see people taking care of it!
I couldn't believe it when I was hiking back and saw it all cleaned up. It was like someone had pulled a magic trick! I know they could always use some help with trail maintenance, so if you get a little group together, let me know....I'd love to head down that way to help too.
Lisa, I really did enjoy the hike and the area. There is evidence all over the place showing how much love y'all put into that trail. Thank you for all you do, and for taking care of the cemetery. I heard yall found more headstones that were completely hidden under the weeds?
You definitely will! I bet it's not too far of a drive either. Definitely a place for you strange people who like to sleep hanging from trees. Looking forward to seeing y'all out on the OT!
Glad to see you post. Been too long! That snake that plays dead is an Eastern Hognose. They are totally harmless unless you are a frog. They have common names like "spreadin' adder" because they really flatten their head and look almost cobra-like. They do put on quite a show but rarely even bike humans. Just google "hognose plays dead" and enjoy. Not sure if you follow Midwest Backpacker but he is thru-hiking the OT soon. Excited to see your next OT adventure. Hope the weather cooperates. This winter has sucked. lol.
I do follow Midwest Backpacker, but missed that he'll be on the OT. Do you happen to know about when he'll be on the trail? Thank you for the additional info on the snake. I had talked a bit more about them on the video as well as about the fire resistance of the Long Leaf Pines, the carnivorous plants and much more, but would have probably been a 2 hour video had I put everything in. LOL, so in the effort of cutting content to shorten the time, a bit had to be left out. So thank you for sharing this info so others can read about it. I was really hoping to see one, but alas, I didn't. Thank you for being a great supporter of my little channel. ❤
@@jetgirlhikes9155 Late March is what he planned. Not sure if he's started yet but probably close if he hasn't already. His recent video is ua-cam.com/video/yFHIjmYSzqE/v-deo.html Ready to see more of your videos! I know it's easy to make them too long. Content just adds up quickly :)
Really funny mental image of a kid ghost in your vestibule. 😄😄 Thanks a ton Jetgirl! Lots of great info. I honestly didn't know much about this trail besides hearing the name before. It looks like a well maintained trail. You did a really good job getting video of your trip along with passing along all the details. Now I'm trying to see if I can squeeze it in my schedule in early spring!
This trail is definitely a hidden Texas "must do". Spring is definitely a good time since their trail maintainers work really hard, but there isn't a whole lot of them. Toward the end of summer, there's a lot of overgrowth that they work on cutting back throughout the winter to have the trail back in shape around spring. I hope you have a great time and that you're able to do a video on the trail to help get its name out there since you have a much bigger following. Looking forward to hearing how your hike goes!
Hey JG!!! Long time no see. Awesome to see a trail video! Hope to see some vids on your upcoming OT hike. Great video as always. Happy trails and god bless
Hi Dan!! Good to be back after my little hiatus. I've been busy backpacking and prepping for this upcoming 2nd attempt at thru hiking the Ouachita Trail. I tend to not shoot videos if I don't have some info to share, but I've got plenty to share about hiking the OT. Great to hear from you and thank you for your support.
Hi Adam! I hit up my friend Bryan (the guy mentioned a few times in the video) and learned he beat me to it and got back to you on the TBTL Facebook page. Usually with trail maintenance, October is when the weather cools down and maintainers can really get out there and start cutting back the Summer growth....but it's a slow process. They should have it pretty close to done by the end of February. Looking forward to hearing how your hike goes!
Enjoyed the video. Hoping to enjoy the hike sometime soon.
Hopefully you get to soon! Spring is a really beautiful time there with all the neat stuff popping up.
I’m just now finding your utube videos!
My trail heart feels 35 but my legs feel 65.
I’m planning to do this hike soon !

I hope you do hike this one. Would love to hear back about what you think after your hike. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.
Thank you for the great report!!
So excited for your upcoming OT extravaganza!! 🙌🙌🥰🥰😃😁
This is definitely a great trail and caching water took no time at all (if you don't include getting stuck in the mud). Excited about the OT!
So glad you enjoyed “our” trail here in East Texas. I enjoyed watching your video, beginning to end!!! Hike on! 😎👍🏼

Yay for hammocks! I'm originally from SETX; this trail looks like home to me. I might have to check it out this Spring.

Yay, new JG video!!!!
You need to show up in one of the upcoming OT videos!
Hi! I was reading there were tons of ticks and miles with 4ft tall grass. Was that your experience? Looking to hike the trail this week.
