Berluti - The Iconic: Andy - Part 3

Step inside the Manifattura Berluti in Ferrara, Italy, to discover one of our best-kept secrets: the handcrafting of the iconic Andy loafer.
Selecting only the best Venezia leather hides, Berluti artisans then choose a last, creating a 2D shoe pattern with the utmost precision, and translating it onto a flat surface that will serve as a blueprint to cut each leather piece.
Once every shoe piece is cut out from the selected Venezia leather hide, the upper is sewn together and the lining is secured. Then, the assembly process begins: using time-honoured bootmaking techniques, the insole and outsole are pieced together one pair at a time, smoothed over and perfected before the finishing touches are applied.
Once Andy is entirely assembled, the edges are smoothed over and the outsole is tinted. Then comes the patina, a variety of pigments carefully applied with cloth and brush-polished to achieve the perfect colour depth and richness.
Voilà, a pair of Berluti Andy loafers is born.
