This original song was composed by a Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and was originally sung by another great artist Basil Valdez. Very few singers in the Philippines attempted to cover this song due to its difficult melody that demands a high level of vocal prowess along with the emotions needed to deliver it properly. I believe it was only Regine who has the ability not only to sing the song properly but giving it a new dimension, character and relevance.

Saw Her just weeks ago and she still sings that way and more even -- If that's possible.
I remember seeing her for the 1st time as a teenager and i was sitting near the speakers. I probably suffered short-term hearing damage but it was all worth it hahah. Hearing her live in person is OLYMPIC- like in the presence of greatness.
She's actually a very jolly individual and laughs like there's no tomorrow. A gem of a star, yet is very kind and down to earth.
Probably the best reaction I've seen of you guys --- just fully absorbed in the performance! The head and lip gestures spoke volumes hahaha
So many great singer everywhere that makes people jump off their feet and go 'wow'. Actually, almost every famous singer gives us that feeling. But then I can only pick a handful of people who can make me drop my jaws and go speechless. Like 'dont talk to me for 5 minutes let me absorb what I just watched. Wth did I just watch?' I want someone who could touch my heart and make me proud not for my nationality but for humanity itself. Regine Velasquez I love her!!!

Just a trivia though, Musicman@50 is the 50th anniversary concert of the country's most renowned musician and conductor Maestro Ryan Cayabyab where several artists performed. He chose Regine to give the final performance. All the artists who sang before Regine went out to the bleachers just to witness her. The audience that night described it as hauntingly beautiful. There was even a moment of silence followed by a standing ovation from the audience. 10 years later, Morisette was chosen to sing this song for the Maestros 60th anniversary concert. Truth be hold that this is one of Regine's very best performances of all time. From her whispers, to how she opens her mouth, with no unnecessary movements, and still maintaining an osculating and resonating quality all through out her crescendos. I tell you that is very very difficult. Like what Ovela said, her control is just superb. And also Regine is a known LEGATO singer..
Celine is not. So I agree with you that Celine could never pull off this arrangement.

Nice vid. Amazing singer of regine! No one can belt like her even lots of belters are popping around right nw. The way she does her highest notes is superb and incomparable.
She plans to hold her 30th anniversary concert sometime soon. So if you plan to visit Manila, better have it in time with that grand concert. And yes, she still sings as awesome as before.
Her sound is now more fuller, low notes have become rounder and darker. She's developed some raspiness because of her acid reflux, however it did not in any way affect her range. Rather it has become more lovely to hear, there's thickness and fullness to her sound nowadays. It now has more character.
She got married several years ago to another composer/musician and they had kids, so I'm sure she's super busy with her family, but she still performs. I love that other people around the world have realized the sometimes unparalleled talent we have in Regine. Keep it coming, I feel like I could hang out with you guys!

Regine is a national treasure. And yes, you guys are right. You don't get to sing like that. You're born to sing like that. What's mesmerising is not just how she belts out so effortlessly, but also how she tells the story of a song whenever she sings, not to mention her vocal and facial expressions. She'll be half a century old soon and her singing is still incomparable to a lot of singers today. I would always joke that she should already retire to give way to other singers coz while she's still around, no one else can reign haha

Queen Regine grew up idolizing Queen Streisand. They have the same style in singing, and since both of them are actresses, they could really put so much emotions and passion in every song they sing. They both sing like telling a story.

trivia: regine's voice started to get damaged by acid reflux when she gave birth.. her "let it go" video was taken just recently so I would not think you will like it as well as you liked her older videos.. :( but she can still sing, not as good as she used to though.. dont get me wrong im a fan, she's on the top of my list of awesome singers.
qwerty59191 I beg to differ. Regine's voice has not been damaged. She's had episodes of acid reflux, but that's it. Ovela and M-Angel can probably vouch for that since they already reacted to Regine's performance of 'If You Go Away', which happened just last year.
9thoctave regine fans know that regine's voice is not as crystal clear as before.. even regine admitted that her singing is not as effortless as before.. well she can still sing with unbelievable high notes nowadays, but regine on her prime was just magical and flawless in every aspect of singing. she's the queen
I agree that Regine's voice and range isn't what it used to be. She still sounds great now, and she will always be my favorite singer, but when when she was at her peak (like in this video), no one was better. A talent like her comes once in a lifetime.
